5 out of 5 eggsGreat Buy on Sale

Pros: *Thin
*Relatively light
*Extremely fast (see other thoughts)
*10 point touch
*m.Sata port
*Hyper-threaded dual-core i3 yielding quad-core performance
*Pretty good graphics for the price-point

Cons: *Screen res could be better, but even at 1366x768 the picture is crystal clear (no points off for this because I knew the screen res before I bought it)
*Touchpad could be a bit more responsive
*Sometimes difficult to use mouse clicker
*Fan is making a very faint clicky noise, though it's hardly noticeable

Other Thoughts: I tested this thoroughly right out of the box and it performed quite well.
To the person saying that it's slow, keep in mind it's a nothing special 5400 RPM mechanical HDD that just happens to come with an 8GB SSD Cache. I really didn't notice any SSD-like speeds when I was using the stock SSHD.

I did, however, take out the provided SSHD and popped in my own 120GB Adata SSD. Threw 8.1 and Linux Mint 17.1 on it and it works beautifully. Boots in under 3 seconds from cold start and no issues after 9 months.

I plan on purchasing a 42mm MyDigitalSSD mSata SSD and throwing that in the mSata port, upgrading the RAM to 8GB and picking up and installing a 1 or 2 TB storage drive and putting that in place of the current SSD. Will be running Mint 17.1 exclusively because of how well it run on this laptop.

Even though the speakers on on the bottom of the thing, the sound quality is still quite impressive.

To anyone thinking of getting this on sale and upgrading parts of it:
*you have to take off the entire bottom (which is quite a pain in the a*se) to get to everything
*There is only one RAM slot
*The mSata slot is in the middle of the laptop after taking the case off
*There are a couple good YouTube clips showing how to properly upgrade parts on this specific model ultrabook

I picked this up for $399.99 on sale summer '14 and believe it's quite possibly the best $400 I could have spent on a budget ultrabook.

4 out of 5 eggsUbuntu machine

Pros: I bought this for $400 on sale from $480. I immediately installed Ubuntu 14.04LTS. Everything functions well with Ubuntu. The touchpad doesn't have great driver support ATM so its limit to the functions of a generic mouse (no two finger scrolling...). I use this laptop to browse the internet, play 1080p videos, and listen to FLAC music files. It does all this very well. I love the HDMI out... I can hook it up to a HDTV very easily. The boot time is very quick. Really happy with this purchase!

Cons: I wish the screen was better. The resolution is limited to 1366x768. Also it has a blue tint to it... but not very noticeable and you get use to it very quickly.

1 out of 5 eggsHORIBLE screen

Pros: Lenovo, nice specs, slick design, competitive price

Cons: HORIBLE screen. Very pixilated, very narrow viewing angle. Adoptive backlighting makes it even worse.

SLOW! Must be related to the hard drive, but it's significantly slower than my 3 yr old x60 (Core 2 Duo) with SSD drive. Task manager was showing latency as high as 10sec (!!!!)

HUGE. I didn't realize how huge 15.6 laptop would be. Not really a con, but worth mentioning.

Other Thoughts: Purchased it as a cristmass present for my significant other and will have to return it. One of the deciding factors for me was that it's a Lenovo and, as someone who's been supporting enterprise computers for 15 yrs, I am very fond of IBM / Lenovo brand. I was VERY surprised to find such a horrible quality screen on Lenovo device. Viewing angle is about 90 degrees, after that colors get messed up.

Additionally, 1366 x 768 on 15.6 screen is auwfully pixilated. You can distinctly see each and every pixel on the screen from about 3 feet.

It also feels unreasonablly slow. CPU behaved well and once apps are loaded, it was quite snappy, but starting apps or loading the updates was painfully slow. Task Manager was showing disk usage at 100% at all times and latency was going up and down from 500ms all way up to 10seconds (!). I am guessing this could be just a faulty drive in mine, but even if that was not an issue, I can't get past the screen...
