4 out of 5 eggsGood for the price

This review is from: Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 15 Core i5 4200U (1.60GHz) 8GB 128GB SSD 15.6"Touchscreen 2-in-1 Ultrabook (59391568) - Black

Pros: This is a fast computer. It boots up in about 5 seconds. It has all of the specs I was looking for SSD, 4th Gen Haswell, 8 GB Ram. It's my first laptop so I wasnt sure how much power I needed, but for this price it made it easy made the purchase.

Decent battery life

Cons: Not having a backlit keybaord is kinda annoying, Windows 8 is still sort of painful, but I think I could like it one day.

125gb isnt alot for storage, but you can always get 128 gb micro SD card.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this computer. It's got some pretty decent specs and should hold up for a while. Windows 8 stinks, but its getting better

3 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 15 Core i5 4200U (1.60GHz) 8GB 128GB SSD 15.6"Touchscreen 2-in-1 Ultrabook (59391568) - Black

Pros: Decent specs for the price (sale)

Cons: A little over a month of use, there seems to be something wrong with the keyboard matrix. The volume keeps lowering, and the mouse has stopped working. This laptop was very well cared for.

Other Thoughts: It's a shame that my first experience with Lenovo is not good, considering how much praise I've heard of the brand.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's Perfect

This review is from: Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 15 Core i5 4200U (1.60GHz) 8GB 128GB SSD 15.6"Touchscreen 2-in-1 Ultrabook (59391568) - Black

Pros: I bought this device for $469.00 (on Black Friday) at Staples this year. I was pretty impressed with the pricing for such a good looking laptop.

The laptop feels very rigid and strong. It actually is. It's handling all applications I am throwing at it and it runs them smoothly. SSHD is a big plus.

Since this machine isn't optimally designed for gaming, I am excluding that from stressing the system.

The only difference my model of the laptop has is the SSHD capacity. Due to SSD pricing, this is good steal.

The unit has many more features yet unexplored by me, but overall, highly recommended if the price is right.

Try to find a model with the hybrid drive though. Storage capacity is critical for this system if you'll depend on it.

Cons: Had problems with the mouse pad drivers which suddenly stopped working and nothing would respond. Restarted the system and still no response.
Had to plug in a back up keyboard and mouse and re-installed the drivers downloaded from Lenovo's site.

***
Yes, I did checked with the buttons to disable/enable keyboard and mouse and played with the configurations settings for mouse and keyboard in Windows Control Panel, no success.

Since I was able to recover functionality, no eggs deducted.

Other Thoughts: Excellent device for those looking for a strong and reliable laptop to do heavy performance out of the desk.

4 out of 5 eggsFlex your muscle

This review is from: Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 15 Core i5 4200U (1.60GHz) 8GB 128GB SSD 15.6"Touchscreen 2-in-1 Ultrabook (59391568) - Black

Pros: Flex your muscle with this Flex 15. Very good graphics performance from the i5 and integrated 4400 intel gpu. The ssd model boots and loads Win 8.1 in 3-4 seconds. Great touch screen. Theater mode is cool for touch screen only or watching video. The aluminum body makes very nice looking unit. Battery life is 8+ hours using performance settings.

Cons: No optical drive or caddy for hdd. A eSATA port would be a plus. Over half the 128gb ssd is used by OS and oem programs, a 256 ssd would be a nice options. I will add a 2.5" external hhd using USB 3.0 and possibly a optical drive.

Other Thoughts: I've had a old Dell running Vista for years, this new lap top is a significant upgrade. Great bang for the buck.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's a great machine...

This review is from: Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 15 Core i5 4200U (1.60GHz) 8GB 128GB SSD 15.6"Touchscreen 2-in-1 Ultrabook (59391568) - Black

Pros: It's FAST. I get to the Metro UI in 3 seconds from the time I turn it on.
It's FLEXIBLE. In laptop mode, it's a 15" beast with a touch screen. In Stand Mode, it's like a small LCD TV.
It's LIGHTWEIGHT. For a 15" machine, it weighs 5 pounds while most machines in it's class weigh over 6.
It LASTS. The battery life from the Core i5 Haswell CPU is just amazing.
It's LOUD. Dolby v4 audio fills the living room, truck or whatever I am in with high-quality sound even at high volume.

Cons: Low-resolution (1366x768) screen. But that's my only con for this. It still beats all other machines in it's class (15" 2 in 1 Ultrabook).

Other Thoughts: I received mine as a prize from Lenovo with clementine orange trim instead of silver. You will likely have to turn off "tap to click" when you first set up this computer, because the touch pad will be very jumpy if you don't.

The touch screen supports 10-point (2-hand) multi-touch, which is great for photo and video editing.

Overall, this machine needs much higher reviews than it is getting... I believe some of the reviewers at C|NET and Laptop Magazine are being really nit-picky about this machine... they might just be biased towards the smaller, 4-mode IdeaPad Yoga, the 3-pound brother of this machine.
