2 out of 5 eggsPrice is great but you are getting what you pay for

Pros: The biggest pro of this machine is that it is dirt cheap. It's fairly quiet as well. Other than that I don't have many good things to say.

Cons: Where to begin... Ok, I understand that this is a bare bones laptop, something that is not designed to blow any minds, but it is possibly the slowest computer I have dealt with since the 90s. It can't handle having more than 2 windows open at once, hell, it can barely handle having 1 open. Now I am by no means an expert on computers, but I checked the Task Manager one day when things were going particularly bad. I had two windows open at this time and the thing almost had a heart attack when I pressed Ctrl+Alt+Del. I opened the Task manager because I wanted to see what percentage of the CPU I was using, and while it was fluctuating, I was more often then not using 95-100% of the CPU Power with only 2 windows open. Call me ambitious, but I think it should be less than that. However, I did only spend $180 on this so.....

Other Thoughts: All in All, I would not buy this computer again, I would spend more money for something better.
2 Stars because of the price.

4 out of 5 eggsnice compromise between a netbook and a notebook

Pros: size/weight, keyboard, HDMI, fit and finish

Cons: maybe a tad slow but as a general purpose computer, it's adequate.

Other Thoughts: I am moving up from an Intel Atom netbook, and this Lenovo slots in perfectly in size between a netbook and a traditional laptop. I love the "catch weight" size of it.

The keyboard is awesome. There seems to be more space in between the keys than even in larger notebooks. At least for me, I am enjoying typing on this Lenovo over over past laptops that I've used.

You won't be disappointed, I think, as long as you are not looking for a gaming laptop. I think I am going to connect this to a 23" LCD monitor at my house and enjoy its portability when I leave the house.

5 out of 5 eggscan upgrade to above 4GB RAM

Pros: Sturdy well built netbook, if your reading this you've probably decided on getting this. Where else are you gonna get a ideapad at this price. I got lucky and got the correct AC adapter.

Everywhere I looked on the Internet says this netbook supports a maximum of 4gb of RAM. When I opened this thing up to stick an SSD in I noticed the extra RAM slot, no where on the net is this extra slot mentioned (so I was thinking...) Fortunately I had also ordered a 4GB DDR3 so-dimm RAM made by Gskill (you might even see it somewhere on this page as a suggested product... get it).I moved the original 2GB stick to the other slot and stuck the new 4GB stick in it's place. Reassembled the netbook and fired it up, all 6GB registered in BIOS as well as Windows. This in my book is a major undocumented (till now!) pro. Only the S205 (without the 2nd 'S') is 'supposed' to have the 2nd RAM slot, not this model. Guess we get lucky!

Cons: As others have said it is a minor pain to take apart but not as bad as Apple laptops and MAC minis.

Only 2GB RAM on a 64 bit OS, at this price not really a con.
Get that 4GB Gskill RAM you see on this page as a suggested purchase (I consider it REQUIRED)

Other Thoughts: Even without my suggested upgrades this is a nice netbook.
Add in the extra 4GB RAM and the SDD you will have a highly usable machine that boots up to a usable screen in under a minute and runs for 4 hours in high power mode.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat little laptop

Pros: Sturdy, reasonably fast, bright screen, nice keyboard and touchpad

Cons: Hard drive was a pain to upgrade to SSD

Other Thoughts: Bought 32 of these from Newgg to put into a laptop cart at our local school. Was a little nervous about buying refurbished, but the majority of these are in like new condition, with a minority being in only slightly less condition (though still excellent). Couldn't beat the price. Upgraded to SSD. Battery life is right around 4 hours. Couldn't be happier with this purchase - we have yet to be disappointed by a Lenovo product.

5 out of 5 eggsWhat a great little machine.

Pros: It came in great physical condition, unlike a couple others I got the correct charger. Everything worked right out of the box. Comes with a windows 7 Key.

Cons: Bloatware/drivers. Ran poorly upon start up and internal fans ran non-stop. Intel software was causing very high cpu usage and high temps. Initial sweep was to remove all the bloat.

Other Thoughts: Put on a fresh version of windows 8.1. It immediate ran much quicker and had zero cpu usage issues.

Remembered I had a spare intel x-25 laying around (80 gb ssd). Threw that in and put on windows 8.1 again. Instantly ran much snappier. Took maybe 45 minutes. Not as easy as some Lenovos to replace the hard drive but it was a max of 20 screws and a little prying with a credit card.

Really a nice little computer for less than $200 dollars. Couldn't be happier.

2 out of 5 eggswrong power cord

Pros: none

Cons: Laptop was shipped with the wrong power cord. Plastic cover shows several scratches.

Other Thoughts: I should have read previous customer reviews since I'm not the first in this situation. First and last time i buy a refurb laptop.

4 out of 5 eggsWrong cord

Pros: Cute little thing! Light, small, and the feet on the bottom are positioned in such a way that it has good ventilation. Good for traveling, I'd imagine. Even though it's refurbed, it's in pretty dang good condition. Only a few scratches on the outside, and they're barely noticeable.

Cons: Got this refurbed, the price was right- the charging cord they sent was not. Too big for it. I'm moving at the end of the month, I don't have time for a lengthy RMA process so I just ordered what I hope is the correct cord on A Certain Other Online Retailer for $20.

Other Thoughts: Looks adorable, feels adorable. If only they'd sent the correct cord. Thank goodness the prices of chargers have gone down- at least for this little guy.

4 out of 5 eggsBought it. Own it. Love it.

Pros: Portable, Windows 7 Home Premium - 64, Price Point, Lots of external ports, excellent keyboard.

Cons: Memory - 2 Gb.

Other Thoughts: We went from netbooks, to tablets, now we are at surface. Seems like we have gone full circle. Not a speed demon, but adequate. I write a lot of papers and do a lot of research - working great for me. Out of the box, it was slow, took off the bloat ware, messed with the memory manager, cleaned the registry, defragged the disk, Bingo! it is working well. Will probably upgrade the memory to 4 GB.
