3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Quad core Touchscreen at a decent price

Cons: no dock-station which is where the CDDVD is yes the screen is small but is advertized as 12.1 mine I paid lest for with the fringerprint scanner CD/DVD ,4G MEMORY but unfortunitly has win32 OS so if you want to increase the ram to the 8g limit you will need a new 64 bit OS

Other Thoughts: GOOD LAPTOP but need a lower price

1 out of 5 eggsshaken my confidence in newegg

Pros: Digitizer touchscreen works great with MS Onenote for taking notes in class. Adequate performance.

Cons: Not as advertised, smell, refurbished items are sometimes well past their useful life.

Other Thoughts: The first unit I received was a glorified paperweight and was sent back for replacement. Newegg refunded return shipping but only after I called, this should be automatic on RMAs. The processor is 2.00Ghz not 2.13 as advertised. Also conspicuously absent is the DVD RW that was promised though it came with burning software pre-installed as well as CDs for Windows. The computer is still decent but if the specs had been legitimate I likely would have gone with my second choice of the Samsung ATIV. I need a computer and this has already taken too long thanks to the RMA so I will keep this one but this has shaken my confidence in Newegg. They should reevaluate their relationship with this seller if they can't provide accurate details of the products they are selling.

1 out of 5 eggsAbsolutely Unacceptable

Pros: It boots.
Quad-core processor.
Active digitizer tablet.
Win 7 Pro.

Cons: Actually 2 ghz, not 213.
Offensive odor, obviously human in origin.
Extensive cosmetic damage

Other Thoughts: I was excited when I received the box. Then, I opened it to an incredibly strong and offensive human odor-- one I regularly associate with used sweaty gym equipment with rubberized coating (note that this has a rubberized coating). Strike one.

I opened the laptop and was about to lock it into tablet mode, but then I noticed that the case housing around the tab which locks the device into tablet mode had been cracked, and was almost falling off. Strike two.

I carefully rotated the screen, and began examining the device for other possible damage. At this point the unpleasant odor was somewhat overpowering, not just offensive.

I found a corner had been scratched so badly that it wasn't just missing rubber coating, it was missing the plastic as well, and had chipped down to the greyish 'inside' casing that houses the computers innards. Strike 3.

When I booted the PC up, I found that the clock speed of the processor was 2 ghz, not 2.13 as advertised. Strike four.

I flipped it over to remove the battery after shutting it back down, then found that the battery-lock switch was completely missing. There was no sign of it in the packaging, or any other paint, plastic/detritus. Therefore, this could not have been the result of 'carrier damage.'

Strike 5. I was planning on the RMA after strike 3.

I understand that refurbished items have sometimes seen extensive use before resale. However, there appears to have been NO attempt whatsoever at actual refurbishing done.

It's as if they blew it off with a dust gun, reimaged the hard drive, then advertised it as 'refurbished.'

I am extremely disappointed with this purchase and the quality from Newegg. That I am expected to pay return shipping on a device that was obviously not as advertised or even inspected prior to shipping is absolutely ludicrous to me.

I will be contacting customer service and if they are unwilling to pay for the return shipping, I will raise issue with the BBB.

1 out of 5 eggsThere is allot lacking

Pros: It looks good. The return of the first one went almost seamlessly and they were very helpful.

Cons: The first one I recieved was beyond the lifecycle of the machine, so I returned it for an exchange. The second one I recieved didn't have a cdrw drive and according to windows system report it is only a 2.0GHz Processor. The hard drive was not the size listed either, so it is likely not OEM. Overall the unit runs well (so far) so I'm not sure what to do about not having an optical drive. Lucky I have an external drive that I can use till I get that figured out. The unit at least looks near pristine. For this reason and because the first one looked SO BAD, I'm afraid to ask for something else. Well, once I get this ironed out I will change my rating.
