3 out of 5 eggsBorder line not worth the price...

This review is from: Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 14 (2-in-1) Ultrabook - Core i5 8GB Memory 128GB SSD 14" Touchscreen Windows 8 (59395988)

Pros: 1) extremely dense, meaning theres not a lot of wasted space which in most cases is bad but for portability...
2) the touch screen made me start looking for touch screens for my desktop because that how windows 8 is meant to be used it really does bring together the "bad" two desktop thang.
3) Its actually a lot faster than I woulda though being comparable to even a modern budget rig.
4) is insanely cool unless ur doing anthing that makes it work graphically which is expected in sucha small package, watching movies and stuff doesn't stress it though so...
5) really good battery life even under load.
6) got it for 600ish.
7) almost forgot the build quality is freaking amazing (minus the one thang listed below) ive spent way more on computers that felt cheap even the keys feel good on this.

Cons: 1) the air that comes out is hot enough to almost instantly liquefy a chocolate bar... so im told lol I almost didn't want to list this because I don't eat chocolate but they really should of made the vent larger its so condensed that the air is like super heated its almost not an option to use this under load on ur lap I was actually a lil shocked
2) its kinda a funny size for cases and stuff though this is almost good because its a lot smaller than it "should" be.
3) a lot of trial software I mean if ur gonna load a pc up with crapware at least give the current version for free like idk almost every other pre built company has been doing since forever.
4) the one glaring flaw (only glaring because of the quality of everything else) is the hinge, this thang has literally the most breakable looking hinge, if anything on this laptop go it'll be the hinge.
5) the way the screen bends a lil in the middle every time u use the transformation which isn't nearly as useless as its made out to be considering the exhaust problem.

Other Thoughts: I know I shoulda known this but the ssd is really small for windows 8, would been cool on 7... so buy a good usb thumb drive pref, because it'll have pretty good transfer or an external for storage because when u fill up an ssd its almost impossible to get them back up (not so much anymore but just tryna drive the point home lol) to speed. but basically a really well built laptop and if ur not into finding deals and stuff this one even normal price is a pretty good deal and when its on sale its almost a steal. I think the coolest part is the creative way they solved the vent problem even if it was unintentional, im talking about the way the screen bends back but not all the way really makes playing touchscreen games ok on the go.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome deal and performance***

This review is from: Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 14 (2-in-1) Ultrabook - Core i5 8GB Memory 128GB SSD 14" Touchscreen Windows 8 (59395988)

Pros: impressive specs for 6 beans ... nice touchpad, easy keys ... ok battery life ... bright display

Cons: a little bit of a chintzy feel ... low res of display ... PRIOR to being upgraded and tweaked windows 8 is a nightmare for power desktop users 9see thoughts below)

Other Thoughts: when I first got this I was seriously thinking about returning it bc windows 8 is such a nightmare ... I had problems with my hotspot wifi access from my phone too ... but after getting a stable internet connection, updating, installing 8.1, installing classicshell and 8gadgetpack, I have this laptop configured exactly like windows vista/7 look and feel ... it is awesome now ... yea it took about a day or two of configuring but its well worth it ... win 8 is actually a great platform once properly configured, ms just got a little too ambitious out of the box trying to serve so many masters ... buy this and do the tweaks and you will b very happy ... great deal

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Workbook

This review is from: Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 14 (2-in-1) Ultrabook - Core i5 8GB Memory 128GB SSD 14" Touchscreen Windows 8 (59395988)

Pros: - Fast processor
- 8 GB of RAM
- SSD
- Solid Design
- Thin
- Long Battery life (7+ hours of normal use)
- Surprisingly Loud speakers
- Touch Screen- works very well for a touch screen.

Cons: - Touchpad and keyboard are average, but you can't do much with a laptop this thin anyway
- Screen has small viewing angle
- SSD is not the fastest
- SSD is only 128 GB, which is more like 100 GB after formatting and OS. This is fine for a smaller music library and work/school documents.

Other Thoughts: If you're looking for a workbook, this is a steal at $600. If the price returns to $800, I would expect to see at least a faster, 256 GB SSD. It is highly portable, and the battery life is excellent. 8 GB of RAM is more than enough for this notebook. Although the body is plastic, it feels solid. Also I recommend buying an external HDD, due to the small storage space. I never use the touch screen, but if you are into that, this one works well. The "flex" part is innovative, but not very useful.

5 out of 5 eggsawesome deal

This review is from: Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 14 (2-in-1) Ultrabook - Core i5 8GB Memory 128GB SSD 14" Touchscreen Windows 8 (59395988)

Pros: this was an awesome deal when it was on sale for 599 and was really surprised that it wasn't better advertised. Its got great battery life and speed for everyday users but is still powerful enough to run most games fine on normal graphics mode. so far I've only played battlefield 3 and tomb raider(which has beautiful graphics even on normal setting) and it runs fine. plus with the ssd, everything boots up fast. for the price, i have not seen another touchscreen this nice. just make sure you have an external hard drive because the there is only like 80gb hard drive space actually available. at 800 dollars this laptop is okay but at 600 its a steal.

Cons: i had to upgrade to windows 8.1 which takes a few hours because 8 is unbearable. after the upgrade i had to find and re-install Bluetooth driver.

Other Thoughts: if after upgrade keyboard/mouse don't work, don't freak out . Have you tried turning it off and on again?

5 out of 5 eggsGreat machine

This review is from: Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 14 (2-in-1) Ultrabook - Core i5 8GB Memory 128GB SSD 14" Touchscreen Windows 8 (59395988)

Pros: Outstanding price / performance if you can pick it up at the $599 price. Lots of guys around the office kicking themselves for not jumping on board.

Easy upgrade to 8.1 and plenty of horsepower to run it smoothly.

Cons: Expected the plastic feel for the price. The Microsoft button on the monitor will cause the screen to flex a tad when pressed. No need to press it though as their is a Microsoft key on the keyboard.
