4 out of 5 eggsNice laptop

Pros: -Good processor
-Good amount of starting RAM. I upgraded to 16GB as soon as I took it out of the box
-Nice Nvidia graphics GeForce GT 730M
-Great value for the price when I bought it

Cons: -Nvidia graphics 4GB is a little misleading, doesn't seem like it uses the 4GB at all
-Windows 8 has a hell of a learning curve
-Battery life, but for the parts inside, plus my settings, it's not too bad

Other Thoughts: Overall a great buy and value for the price. Very happy with this laptop.

5 out of 5 eggsI adore this laptop

Pros: Fast, good looking, easy to go from Windows 8 to Windows 7 because Acer has full driver support for the two OS, and it has a decent nVidia card that can handle games just fine. Oh yeah, the screen is very bright and crisp.

Cons: The keyboard could be a little better and the hinge definitely isn't special, but it all works fine and dandy and should last a long time under average use.

Other Thoughts: I'm actually pleased my old laptop died and forced me into an upgrade. I bought a Samsung 840 Pro Series solid state drive for it here and went from Windows 8 to Windows 7 and wow... it's SO quick!!! It handle Battlefield 3 no problem as well. Sure, you could wait for some Haswell stuff, but if you need it now and can afford this then I say get it.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Laptop

Pros: Full HD screen
Second HD Bay (means you can put an SSD in there for your operating system along with the 1TB hard drive
730M graphics
Core I7 processor

Cons: WINDOWS 8!!!!! worst operating system ever

Other Thoughts: Had this laptop for about a week now. After going through the long and tedious process of downgrading from Windows 8 to Windows 7 I absolutely love this laptop. I've alreaddy added a 120gb SSD to it which was easy with the extra hard drive bay. She is pretty heavy but you should know this with buying a 17 inch laptop. The screen is awesome and the 730M with 4 gigs of graphics memeory is perfect for playing games.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for price.

Pros: Relatively inexpensive for what is inside. Full HD resolution at 1920x1080. 2xusb 3.0 and 2xusb 2.0.
GT 730M really shines.

Cons: Preferred the matte finish of my previous Acer laptop, but not a big deal.

Came with windows 8

Other Thoughts: First thing i did when i opened the box was made sure everything worked the way it should. tried my way around windows 8 for about 20 minutes before becoming completely frustrated.

its a good thing i prepared for that by getting a new copy of windows 7. i changed the bios to "legacy", then installed a 64GB SSD. installed win 7 on that, then reinstalled the TB HDD and reformatted completely for storage.

Acer had all the drivers necessary on their website for download. i did that on my desktop, saved them to a usb flash drive, then installed them one by one on the laptop. everything works perfectly.

Runs skyrim at 1920x1080, ultra high settings at 25fps, if i turned it down a little its gets in the 40s. just have to remember this is not a desktop replacement, but it can handle things pretty well.

overall very satisfied. will comment back if anything changes.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Nice advertised features for the price.

Cons: Received the laptop on Thursday tried to do system image/backup and the ACER backup software failed. Contacted Acer and they agreed to send restoration disk. On the following Tuesday I just tried powering on the laptop, and there's no display on the screen. I was able to get system to display by connecting to an external monitor and see the display just fine, but nothing on the laptop monitor itself the ACER Aspire V3-771G-9441. After trying to update drivers and spending 2 hours with online with Acer support it I was issued a RMA and now I am waiting for the my laptop to be repaired. Oh yeah still no restoration disk. Waiting to see how good this thing really is...

1 out of 5 eggsLucky it gets a star for WIndows 8 .. BUT .. Windows 8 Pro,

Pros: on Windows 8 .. gaming is awesome . i get 120 FPS .

Cons: but once i installed Window 8 pro ... FPS dropped to 15 FPS
Tried re-installing drivers found at ACER's web site ... still didn't fix issues

so ... after 3 days of web searching ... i finally chat with "support at ACER ...

here's how that went ...

LEVEL 1 ....

ACER SUPPORT. Saran RajR.: 1.Click Start and then Control Panel. Select Classic View from the left side of the window.

Richard : lol u r funny
Richard : start? .. this is WINDOWS 8
ACER SUPPORT. Saran RajR.: I know it is Windows 8.
ACER SUPPORT. Saran RajR.: Richard, just now realized, I have done typo error.
ACER SUPPORT. Saran RajR.: I am sorry for that.

. now to level 2
Michael C: Hi, my name is Michael C. How may I help you?
Richard Saulnier: hi .. have u read the case?
Michael C: No, how may I help you?
Richard Saulnier: when i got this machine ... with Windows 8 .. it was awesome
I was getting 120 FPS in gaming ...
Richard Saulnier: I upgraded the Machine to Windows 8 Pro
installed using the driver at ACER's WebSite
my FPS as dropped to 15
Richard Saulnier: also change Nvidia to be primary card didn't help
Richard Saulnier: this was a new WIndows 8 Pro install .. you cannot upgrade this machine
Richard Saulnier: per your web site
Michael C: So you've installed a retail copy of Windows 8?
Richard Saulnier: yes
Richard Saulnier: with updates
Michael C: Our support is limited to the factory installed hardware and software.

5 out of 5 eggsI like it a lot.

Pros: It does everything I want it to do with particular ease. Windows 8 is fine, minus a couple of little crossover compatibility issues (see cons) but it's honestly not that bad and nowhere near a turnoff for me. I use this thing all the time on some taxing stuff and it runs like a dream.

Cons: Windows 8 has a couple of small issues (ie Win 8 Skype muting everything when I switch to desktop mode) but most of that can be fixed by replacing the win 8 version with a desktop or win 7 version. Honestly, there are very few issues I have with this thing, and none of them are huge problems.

Other Thoughts: Trying to convince a friend to replace their mac desktop with this bad boy or a slightly downgraded version.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: This is a highly capabable gaming laptop for under $1000, which is not easy to find. It may not play every new game out there on ultra craziness settings, but it does a good job running just about anything with decent frame rates and quality gaming experience. It is what is advertised. I have had Acer laptops before and they just last forever. I bought a refurb from another site 6 years ago and it's still running strong. This laptop has good build quality, fairly light for it's size. Heat is blown out the left side mostly, which is unfortunately where your USB3 ports are :(

Cons: No SSD, no blu-ray, manufacturer's website makes it neigh impossible to find compatible RAM to upgrade it yourself if you wanted to. Oh, yeah... it never said it came with any of thos things and it's only $900!!! If you want ultra-high end and have more money than brains, you can get a custom SLI laptop with a 3D screen and 32 GB of RAM for about $4000!

Other Thoughts: I was looking for a solid mid-range gaming laptop that I wouldn't need to replace in a year. I looked at a lot of sites and various models. You absolutely cannot beat the bang for the buck on this model. I ordered this on Thursday and it arrived Friday afternoon! No special shipping options requested, it just got here overnight anyway- very impressed with Newegg on that. I don't normally write reviews but if something is really good (or bad) I think others should know. I have absolutely no regrets whatsoever with this purchase.

2 out of 5 eggsNot what I expected

Pros: Fast, speedy response, good features for the price

Cons: Bad Nvidia video card out of box, code 43 no matter what operating system or drivers used. Now I have to deal with Acer support to RMA it.

Other Thoughts: Iffy hardware reliability, as is usual with Acers i have used before.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Buy

Pros: You can't find a much better laptop for the $900.I7 processor with a 4 gig dedicated Nvidia card.I'm runnin Devil may Cry in Ultra settings in 1920x1080 but games like farcry 3 and The Witcher 2 lag a little but I don't have a SSD either.

Cons: Windows 8...BOOO!Not to worry.Windows 7 install was easy thanks to another review on here.F2 on startup and change too legacy.Drivers are all on acer website even the driver for the Nvidia 730 which I though was weird. The driver from Nvidias website did not seem to work.
