5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop

Pros: This laptop has a beautiful monitor. The keyboard is lit, (As all should be) Set up was easy and backing up the system on a flash drive was flawless and quick. Purchased this for my husband and I was so over joyed with the touch screen I ordered a touchscreen for my desktop. Windows 8 is a new learning curve over 7 but is quick to adapt to. We discovered when trying to download the windows upgrade to 8.1 that there is not enough memory to make the installation. Therefore the comment below. We paid $349.00 at another vendor which made this laptop an excellent item at an excellent price.

Cons: You really need 8 Mb of memory. Make that a priority when purchasing to order another 4 megs.

Other Thoughts: If you can find it on sale you can't beat this for a laptop.

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding value

Pros: A very handsome looking laptop for the price. Solid and sturdy construction yet remarkably thin. Oversize touch pad, responsive touch screen. Back-lit keyboard is a nice touch.

Cons: Poor viewing angles on the screen. Not a particularly powerful laptop with a very average hard drive. Be prepared to occasionally wait 3 or 4 seconds for a program to open.

Other Thoughts: My wife says the touch pad placement occasionally interferes with her typing. Her left palm tends to rest near it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat machine for the price

Pros: Price: Got it on sale at a local store for a little less than NE, and added an all inclusive 2 year warranty to cover things Acer doesn't cover with their warranty. The deal was too good to pass up and I snagged the last one.
Aesthetics: This is one cool looking laptop. Very sleek and lightweight, the screen looks great and maximizes the whole area. The LED lighting of the keys is a great effect.
Speakers: Laptops are generally weak in this area but this computer is loud compared to my 3 year-old MSI.
Touchscreen: The only way I was going to get a PC with Windows 8 was if it was a touchscreen. There is a bit of a learning curve with the new OS and I can see how those w/o a touchscreen would hate it. After a while I've become quite adept at navigating though Windows 8 using the touchscreen, and there are free apps in the windows store that help you learn. The touchscreen is very responsive and I have not had any issues with it or the mousepad when it comes to highlighting text as I've read in other reviews.

Cons: As expected with a touchscreen, the fingerprints tend to pile up. This isn't really a problem as you can just wipe them off, but they get really noticeable when it's being used as a family PC due to the super glossy screen.
The mousepad can be a little sensitive and takes some getting used to.

Other Thoughts: Performance-wise, you get what you pay for. It's not for gaming and falls a little short for entertainment purposes, but as an everyday, family PC, it does the job just fine. I bought it with my young son in mind as he's learning new things and this computer can be utilized as a great learning tool for toddlers. There are plenty of free, interactive learning games that allow him to use the touchscreen feature.
I've read that there are empty slots to add more memory sticks which is a nice feature but I haven't checked myself, and I don't need them...yet.
If you're looking for a touchscreen PC/laptop but are on a budget, for the price, it doesn't get any better.
