5 out of 5 eggsGreat Tablet once upgraded to windows 8.1

Pros: I work at a call center as a network admin and this handles everything i normally throw at a desktop besides creating databases obviously. Runs multiple java programs great whill having IE and AIM and even excel running. I Tried to max out the 2gb of ram but 8.1 manages it all so well.

Cons: Now what this thing has in computing power lacks in graphics even the the windows rating system tells you otherwise. This will play tablet games like halo spartan assault and angrybirds. It will play CS and garry's mod but thats and low-med settings and thats where you have to draw the line. It cant hadle source games. But obviously this isn't a gaming tablet.

Other Thoughts: Also can handle bluestacks pretty well.
1280x800 is just right for a 8.1 inch screen. people gotta remember this is a windows tablet and windows doesn't like high pixel density.

4 out of 5 eggsIt's About The Product, Not The Service

Pros: Overall performance better than I expected after researching this product.

Atom is quick and responsive.

Graphics are very smooth. Sound is acceptable.

Battery life excellent after several discharge/charge cycles.

Case is sturdy, feels well made. Easy to hold considering it's slightly heavy.

Office 2013 a bonus.

Cons: Most complaints are about the screen. Rumor is new model will have improved screen. I'm OK with it, it's not suppose to be HD people!

The 64gb model has a recovery partition but no recovery DVD, the 32gb model has no recovery partition but has a recovery DVD. You will need a powered hub, USB keyboard, external DVD drive and a micro USB adapter to restore the 32gb model.

Other Thoughts: I don't know why people use "product review" to review service or delivery issues. Don't they realize it distorts the rating of the PRODUCT!

I added a micro USB adapter, a micro HDMI adapter, the Acer Bluetooth keyboard and a Bluetooth mouse. Connected the W3 to my flat panel TV without issue.

Overall I have not major complaints about the Acer Iconia W3.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible Customer Service

Pros: There is no Pros to working with Beach Audio, very slow shipping and terrible customers service. Product was not shipped for approximately two weeks after ordering. Beach Audio is a third party vendor of Newegg and I will not be ordering through any third party vendor again.

Cons: Took over three weeks to receive a defective tablet. Beach Audio has very slow shipping three weeks to receive product. has terrible customer service, absolutely does not return emails or phone calls. I will never order from Beach Audio or any other third party vendor again. Make sure that your order is from Newegg direct and not any third party vendor.

Other Thoughts: Never order via third party!

3 out of 5 eggsNot bad if your Windows tablet expectations aren't overly optimistic

Pros: - This tablet, while one of the low-powered full Windows tablets that use Atom processors, was very responsive for me and never felt slow. I expected it to perform much worse than it did.

- While mostly plastic, I liked how it felt in my hand.

- Speakers performed fine considering the price, and headphone performance was great.

- All media in general played smoothly and as expected.

- Being a full Windows PC in your hand, this tablet gets around 5 hours on a full charge. Not bad. Not great, but not bad IMO given its inherent processing advantages compared to Apple and Google tablets.

- Wifi radio performance was very good and this thing ran web pages just as fast as my iMac.

Cons: - Like all Wintel products even in this age of Apple design, this device comes slathered in stickers touting each individual component it has built into it. This practice has to stop. Guys, I know what I'm buying already; I don't need it confirmed for me after receiving the device.

- The screen is definitely the weakest part of this device. You kind of feel like there's some sort of overlay on top of the LCD that skews things slightly. That said, the 1280x800 resolution works fine for me, and it's fast to change orientations.

- In terms of weight this tablet is also likely one of the heaviest in the sub-10" segment, but it does feel substantial.

- Make sure you have micro SD storage, as the 32GB on this device gets eaten up fast just having Windows, OpenOffice, a couple browsers, and some basic apps. I have only about 5.5 GB left, which could be variable depending on virtual memory settings. That said, like so many Windows products it comes with software you likely don't need and can delete.

- The cameras are pretty bad, but I've found that most mobile device cameras are not good generally speaking.

- The mobile app ecosystem for Windows 8 just isn't there yet. Case in point, the Wikipedia app only shows the day's top stories and images; it doesn't let you search Wikipedia and pull in articles. But, the Weather Channel app on this thing was well designed and ran 100x better than it does on my iPhone. Hit and miss.

- Other downsides are inherent in Windows 8's design and not so much device related.

Other Thoughts: Overall, while this tablet has similar specs as small tablets from Apple and Google, it's not going to win many value per dollar contests UNLESS you need a full Windows PC in your hand. If you have that kind of need on the go but don't want to spring for the whiz-bang Windows 8 touch-based ultrabooks that cost 2.5-3x more, this should fit your bill. It has full Windows and everything that entails, whereas the Apple and Google alternatives are much less work-capable and are more cloud-reliant. This tablet can be as well, but it has some capacity to stand on its own, if that matters to you.

This tablet has gotten a bad rap from reviewers and I think it's somewhat undeserved. I enjoyed using it particularly for its power, but admittedly the Apple and Google competition I have access to have much more robust app and media libraries that are available at the touch of a finger.

Consider your needs carefully, but this tablet showed stronger for me than I thought it would based on reviews.

**I did not get to test its HDMI-out and Bluetooth capabilities, nor its built-in mini-USB port.

1 out of 5 eggsscreen is poor

Pros: Price

Cons: Screen is nasty poor looking and very washed out.

Also if you ever want to format and reinstall windows you need a micro usb adapter and a powered usb hub along with a usb keyboard just to reinstall windows.

Other Thoughts: they should have shipped this with a usb adapter and a windows 8 recovery usb stick . You should not have to go through all that work to reinstall windows
