4 out of 5 eggsNice hardware

Pros: Nice design, full sized keyboard, great monitor size and plenty of specs for day to day use. Overall, a nice laptop. Sound is surprisingly good for a laptop.

Cons: No SSD.

Richland APU support outside Win8. I've tried using a few flavors of Linux and even going back to Windows 7 and I've been running into driver issues left and right. Linux issues are mostly graphics and Windows 7 doesn't seem to have an Acer USB 3.0 driver available (that I can find, anyway).

Other Thoughts: I know not everyone wants to switch from Win8 or put a solid state into the machine. For those that do, expect some challenges. Maybe the driver support will improve and this is a moot point down the line.

Also, this computer is capable of three monitors. Two external + the laptop monitor. This does NOT require "DisplayLink".

The "dongle" that was mentioned on the page is apparently just a mini DisplayPort (same as Apple is using). You can get adapters to go to VGA, DVI, or HDMI in various lengths. Plus you have a dedicated HDMI, which is always nice.

Also, I don't like UEFI Bios..

4 out of 5 eggsReally Nice Laptop

Pros: -Latest AMD mobile APU is very impressive and responsive
-Backlit keyboard
-Stays cool
-Dedicated 512MB Graphics Memory
-Extremely thin and light
-System starts up in about 4 to 6 seconds after a complete shutdown
-Approx. 5 hours battery life
-Touchscreen is very responsive and is useful in some situations

Cons: -Integrated battery, will need to be sent to Acer if I ever need a new battery
-Touchpad, I do have a bluetooth mouse but when I use the touch pad it drives me nuts. The area where you click the left or right button is touch sensitive, so when you try to right-click on something your cursor moves slightly off the object you want to right-click.
-Bloatware-McAfee and some Norton junk, easy to uninstall though

Other Thoughts: Make sure to update to Windows 8.1, you need a certain KB hotfix from Windows Update in order to see 8.1 in the Store. Once updated to 8.1 I set it up so that it automatically boots to the desktop and not the Start menu. Switch Chrome to Desktop mode and everything seems to behave pretty much like Windows 7. Touch pad gestures to switch between apps and bring up the Start menu can be more annoying than helpful.

5 out of 5 eggsGood power for the price

Pros: Back-lit keyboard, Touchscreen, Dedicated graphics (512MB for those that are wondering), Thin, sleek, and very portable. The battery can last a good amount of time (from what I've seen ~2hrs gaming, 4-6hrs of normal use).

I really have to make a special note about the speakers. They have quite the amount of volume for such a small piece of hardware. While they cant hit the very high notes and the bass very well, they do provide a rich quality of sound on almost any surface. This thing can fill a room, and not many laptops can say that.

Really, this laptop gives you alot of bang for your buck. My friends have all commented on how nice it is, and for only 550$ (on sale) it was a steal! I use this for notes and homework around campus, but I have the option to play games such as kerbal space program, League of Legends, and Diablo 3 in my downtime.

Cons: The touchpad can be frustrating at times, but I've gotten used to using the touch screen for most things. Also, the lack of an optical drive can be a bit of a downer, but I have yet to encounter an issue with that. Nowadays almost everything you need is online somewhere. Honestly, its not that bad without one. Windows 8 can get annoying at times, I have run into an issue with the login. I have to press CTRL + ALT + DEL in order to put in my password. Normally this is an easy fix, but for whatever reason the option to change the setting is disabled in this suite of windows8. I tried tech support, and they suggested I re-install win8. No Thanks.

Other Thoughts: As for heat, the fans work very well. It seems as if the center of the keyboard near the 'jkl' keys gets the warmest. Really this is only an issue when the laptop is on a cloth surface (like my bed) where it receives poor ventilation, or during a gaming sesh. My little bug with windows 8 has been the only issue, and that really has nothing to do with the laptop. It's a great buy.

4 out of 5 eggsAcer touchscreen

Pros: Nice laptop for the money. Plenty of RAM, touchscreen works flawlessly. 1 egg off for no optical drive, and the need to purchase a proprietary "dongle" to connect an external monitor.

Cons: Dongle needed

Other Thoughts: Light and thin, backlit keys nice.

5 out of 5 eggsWindows 8 laptop

Pros: Touch screen laptop, quad core CPU, 8GB RAM. This system has the ability & power to last 3-5 years. Windows 8 works great with the 10 point multi-touch screen.

Cons: Windows 8 is clumsy when using touch-pad though touch-pad works well itself.

Other Thoughts: Bought this as a laptop replacement for a 3 year old HP with power/video issues. Wife found using touch screen made learning Windows 8 easy. Windows 8 has come on strong with this mobile app targeted Operating System.
