1 out of 5 eggsNice Paperweight

Pros: Seeing as this computer was defective when it arrived, I have nothing positive to say about it OR about Acer's customer service. The only positive side is the way Newegg handled the situation.

Cons: I purchased this computer after reading several reviews on multiple websites. Unfortunately, this computer arrived with a defective internal battery. On the initial charge the battery only charged to 70% and then said “plugged in, not charging.” I called Acer’s technical support. That was a NIGHTMARE! I’ve never been that frustrated with ANY customer service before… and that is saying a lot. The first guy had no idea what he was talking about. He kept telling me to take the battery out. I kept telling him the model number and that it has an INTERNAL battery. He talked down to me as if I did not know what I was talking about and finally commented, “Until you are willing to listen to me and take the battery out, I cannot help you.” I hung up. I called back. The second guy at least was aware that this model has an internal battery. His suggestion was to send it to them to be fixed. Mind you, I had only opened the box earlier that day, and it was defective on arrival. I paid for a new computer, not a refurbished one. I contacted Newegg, and they helped me to return the computer the next day—and verified that it was defective. As they have d/c this model (perhaps others have had the same problem??), they refunded my money instead of issuing a replacement. Unfortunately, the whole process from order to refund has taken a month.

Perhaps this computer works for some. However, the absolute frustration of the matter coupled with the way Acer handled customer service—I can guarantee that I will not be purchasing a computer from them again any time soon.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Ultrabook

Pros: Thin and light. Fast SSD. Decent battery life. Nice screen. OK speakers. Windows 8 touch experience. Pretty much all the specs I was currently looking for at the right price for my budget.

Cons: Fingerprint magnet of course but I knew that with a touch screen and glass on the outside too. If you understand that this is an ultrabook going in and know what that entails, there aren't really any major cons.

Other Thoughts: I really liked the overall look and specs. I currently on another Acer laptop and I've owned other Acer computers and overall have had good experiences.
