2 out of 5 eggsGood but cheaply made

Pros: Very lightweight. Plays games decently. Amazing battery life. Pretty quick laptop.

Cons: Screws holding the corner of the laptop together somehow snapped which created an opening in the corner. It got so bad I had to superglue it together. Now the fan scratches against the inside.

Other Thoughts: Pretty good laptop for the money but wouldn't buy it again.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop! Glad I bought it!

Pros: Looking for a lightweight semi gaming laptop? This is your laptop. I purchased this laptop to travel with me for work in early 2014. I play FFXIV, Minecraft, 7 Days to Die, The Forest on medium settings and receive no lag. If I change it to High settings I run into some lag, its usable but I don't need the full settings. Lets face it, its not a pure gaming laptop but if your looking for someone light and on the go this will do great.

Streaming Full 1080HD movies off battery will let you watch between 2-3 hours.

Word docs and office productivity, general surfing you will range 3-4 hours depending on how much multi-tasking your doing.

This laptop was one of the best laptops I've used. I did not use the standard hard drive it came with. I replaced with a scandisk 128gb ssd. 8 Second boot into windows 8.1 and 15-25 extra seconds to fully log into a game.

No LED indication lights on the keyboard. In fact no lights at all. I can't tell if caps/num/etc are on sometimes. This may be a con for some but I like a cleaner looking laptop.

Cons: Windows 8.1. Although I am use to it, I still dislike using it. It is actually very stable for me. Only 1 crash in 4 months, there are some QoL issues that bother me.

Mouse Pad - Terrible... great machine ruined by this track pad. Its terrible, just terrible. clicking it is like playing hot potatoe. You know know when the thing is going to click to soon, late, at all...

This laptop can get hot after long hours of gaming. I make sure to have the back propped up with anything i have laying around.

The mouse pad and windows 8 are why i gave it 4 stars. You can't downgrade to 7 as drivers are not supported.

Other Thoughts: I could nit pick more like screen viewing angles, speakers aren't that as loud as i like, etc but with the price and being able to purchase an SSD with the extra money this thing really doesnt have to many cons.

3 out of 5 eggsNot quite up to par

Pros: Thin, and quiet

Runs what I bought it for and nothing else

Cons: Very, very slow
Like, very

Sounds good on paper, but sadly, no.
Granted, if you buy it for what I got it for (class notes) then you're good

Other Thoughts: A bit over priced, but if all you need is a word processor with internet, then this is for you

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Budget School Laptop

Pros: The design of this laptop is very stylish. Dirty fingers will show up easily though. It is very lightweight due to the fact it has no CD/DVD drive installed inside the laptop. The price performance ratio is spot on for light gaming and school work reasons. If your going in for animation or video editing a laptop with a quad-core processor is suggested over this one. It has four speakers underneath the speakers and the sound quality is excellent.

Cons: The mouse pad is terrible. The left and right click buttons are combined in with the mouse pad. This causes accidental movement when attempting to click something.

Other Thoughts: This laptop comes with windows 8. This is a very subjective OS and can't put this on either pros or cons seeing that I actually like it. The wireless card on here is weird with my wireless Linksey's modem while downloading games from Steam. If I download a game from Steam for a extensive amount of time it stops my Linksey's modem for the entire home.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop but not perfect!

Pros: First off, the design of this thing is amazing. It's slim, light, and sexy! The processor is very nice. Works very fast. The GPU is mediocre but is a great buy for the price.

Cons: The touchpad on this thing is terrible. The surface of the touchpad has like little ridges which makes it really hard to smoothly slide your finger around. I use a mouse most of the time so no problem. The two USB ports on the side are very tight! It reallys holds on tight to your plug in cords so be careful about that.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop!

Pros: I really love this laptop. Here's some things I like about it.
- Intel Core i5 processor makes this thing REALLY fast. You'll run into barely any hiccups in the performance of this thing.
- Dedicated Nvidia graphics chip makes this thing a pretty decent gaming computer. I use it to make Minecraft videos on my YouTube channel and I get little to no lag.
- Beautiful design. This thing is very solid, thin, and light. At first I didn't know what everybody ment about this thing being really well designed, now I understand what all of them were talking about. The design just feels...solid and hard.
- Very tight screen. The thing doesn't wiggle or shake AT ALL. You can pick this laptop up and shake it and the screen will stay tightly in place. No wobbling at all (Which I personally am a big fan of).
- The four Dolby speakers are loud and clear, better and louder than most laptop speakers. Very good for watching YouTube videos or watching TV shows and movies on Netflix or Hulu.

Cons: Now there are a few things that aren't as good as I feel they could be, but this doesn't change the fact that I love this laptop.
- The touchpad is sensitive. Now it's still very usable, but it's just kinda hard to get used to it.
- For some reason video playback in full screen can sometimes be laggy for the first 10-20 seconds. Maybe this is just the one I received, but it's still a bit annoying. It doesn't happen ALL the time, but it does happen every once in a while.
- The power button is located on the left side of the laptop. It's very thin and long, making it easy to accidentally press if you have this thing set in a unusual position on your lap or something.

Other Thoughts: All together this laptop is AMAZING! I love it so far and I feel it will work well for the next two or three years. :)

The price is simply AMAZING for what you get in this laptop. If you're looking for a laptop around this price range and have been considering this, look no further. This is a great laptop for media and gaming.

5 out of 5 eggsRead Before you Judge!

Pros: Very good specs on this thing. If you know anything about computers you will see how this thing just rocks. It is nutty thin and light, solid construction, metal casing on the top side when open. I really dig it.

Cons: I read a lot of cons for this thing before I bought it. First, I hate windows 8, but under the hood it is just like 7. Install a program called ClassicShell and you are right back with a desktop and a start button. Feels just like 7. Secondly, people are complaining about the trac pad. It isn't great, but I got much better performance by going to control pannel / mouse settings / device settings / settings / and disable smart sense. It makes the trac pad way more stable. Sucks you cant easily replace the battery, but you cant on tablet either, and many other devices. Who cares. If it dies, pop the case open. Not the end of the world. You should also calibrate the colors a bit in the control panel. Easy as pie, mine had a bit of a blue tint. HHD is slow, but you can easily upgrade that as well.

Other Thoughts: I give it 5 eggs because it is a steal for the price range. supports 12 gigs of ram? Seriously... 2gigs dedicated video, core i5 you can upgrade to an i7. Extra hhd slot. Yeah, good deal.

5 out of 5 eggsNice gaming laptop

Pros: If you're looking for a laptop / notebook with a dedicated GPU and a solid CPU for a good price. This is the one.
- Ivy Bridge CPU OC'ing itself to 2.7Ghz
- NVIDIA Geforce 720GT mobile processor w/2G of ram
- 4GB of RAM + 1 x 2GB

The two most important things I looked for when searching for a gaming Laptop / Notebook were dedicated GPU and price. The I5 CPU was icing on the cake.
I've only played a few games so far, but there have been no issues on the one I've played yet. I shred TF2. Skyrim can be played on High settings. Minecraft has no problems. Again, I haven't installed many games yet but so far so good.

Cons: I would have liked the option of being able to choose Windows 7 or Windows 8 as the the OS. It comes with Windows 8. Why would you offer Windows 8 if the screen isn't a touchscreen?

Other Thoughts: Again, other than not being able to have an option to choose which OS (Win 7 / Win 8), this is a solid Gaming Laptop / Notebook.

4 out of 5 eggsBang for the Buck

Pros: Form factor -- lightweight and slim for easy transport.
6 GB memory.
Full keyboard with number pad.
Dedicated nVidia graphics card (720M) w/2GB RAM.
3 USB ports; ethernet port; HDMI port.
Shortcut keys to toggle wifi, touchpad, and audio.
Capable device for casual gaming.

Cons: Short travel on keys.
Display colors appear too cool/blueish.
Integrated graphics.
Slower HD.

Other Thoughts: Because he travels frequently, my husband invested in a Samsung ATIV Book 6 earlier this year, which has shown itself quite capable of handling both his work activities and his gaming. As a writer and casual gamer, my own demands are a little less, well, demanding. This means that, when it came time to shop for my own laptop, I didn't need something equivalent to DH's Samsung. I simply needed a laptop that would run OpenOffice; allow me to browse the web (for research -- really!); watch the occasional movie; and run Diablo 3 or Old Republic on at least medium settings. After some research, I set my price point around $600 and went digging. Between the specs and the reviews, I decided that the V5-572G was enough to take a chance on.

So far, I have not been disappointed. The light weight and thin profile had been wonderful, allowing for ease of transport, while the laptop itself has performed well. Thus far, I have had no trouble engaging in my usual activities -- writing, gaming, and surfing. Windows 8 boots fairly well, but would have definitely benefitted from a quicker hard drive.

The nVidia GeForce 720M has performed to expectations, allowing me to run Old Republic at both high and medium settings. It stuttered a bit at first, but immediately improved once I : (a) changed the power profile and (b) used the nVidia interface to associate the GPU with the game executable file. This, I think, is where the integrated graphics are a con: Nice for backup and/or daily use, but I really would prefer to let nVidia do the driving. It's a slight tweak, and one that I knew I'd need to make, thanks to previous reviews here at the Egg.

As other reviewers have mentioned, the screen doesn't quite do justice to the rendering provided by the 720M. I find it a bit too bright and the colors bit too cool when compared to both DH's Samsung and my Dell desktop monitor. That being said, it's still acceptable, and I should be able to get better results with a few more tweaks.

My biggest frustration, however, is the keyboard. While I greatly appreciate having a full keyboard with number pad, the lack of travel on the keys is wreaking havoc with my speed and accuracy: Some keys are repeated with the slightest tap, while it seems to take direct strikes to get others to cooperate. There are times I actually miss the keyboard on my Asus Transformer dock.

Despite these flaws, however, I have yet to discover another manufacturer providing an i5 processor, 6 GB of RAM, and a good dedicated graphics card for a laptop in this price bracket; so long as one keeps realistic expectations, even the screen and keyboard are not dealbreakers. For daily use and casual gaming, I doubt there's a better buy out there.

Pros: Great price, runs great

Cons: Takes a little updating to get it up to speed, such as downloading windows 8.1 and removing excess programs
