4 out of 5 eggsSo far excellent

Pros: Great Price $730~ shipped
Backlit Keyboard - overall aesthetics awesome

Cons: None so far -- was the original feeling, still enjoy it however the following things have occured. There's a small string of dead pixels on the bottom towards the middle left of the display, probably around 8-10 or so. it's hardly noticeable and i'm living with it. also after a year the battery life has diminished entirely, it's almost impossible for me to use it without being plugged in.

Docking an egg for those two probelms, but still happy with it for what it is.

Other Thoughts: I'm not sure why the other reviews had so many problems. If you're somewhat techy the "rough" transition from windows 8 ->8.1 shouldn't be such a problem. I ran into an error "Failure to update windows - reverting updates" the first time I ran the windows update, but I hadn't uninstalled the video drivers like many reviews on the net said to do. Since i've done that the updates installed and ran smooth, currently downloading 8.1 and then i'll figure out the driver situation as of then.

Thoughts so far:
I7 is excellent for multitasking, I was installing like 6 or 7 programs, while deleting bloatware, running updates for windows and had 10 tabs open with help pages and youtube running and it all worked pretty flawless.

For the money I spent *730* at the time of purchase it is an unbeleivable buy. I work for a computer retailer and asked the other sales guys what they would pay for the specs of the computer and they all said 900-1200 so I'd say it was an unbelievably good purchase.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat until battery Died

Pros: Its light, it uses 2 graphics cards for longer battery life. my first experience with windows 8 on a touch screen, made things a lot easier on the horrible OS. Upgraded to 8.1 with ease. Can play games with ease, BF4 at low settings was in 50's FPS, I normally play FPS in low, easier to see the target. I haven't done a detailed annalist of games yet, have been on the move with out steady internet.

Cons: from low to high.

Low res screen, should have bought the higher res screen

no optical drive. I did think this was a problem until business people I met didn't carry a usb stick, lol.

Has only 3 usb ports. With a exernal optical drive, they are filled up fast. Additionally, all are oddly placed, no logical order, only 1 is USB 3. You have to make sacrifices when using a ultra book but the 3 are on all sides of the case.

Having few USB ports was difficult sometimes, had to choose between the mouse, external hard drive, optical drive, USB drive and worse of all...... charging smart phone.

Battery died after 7 months. The warranty was 30 days. Since battery is inclosed, its difficult to trouble shoot and replace while away from my office.

Other Thoughts: Its not bad but I would have gone for the 1440x900 screen.

I might have gotten a bad battery but being you can't remove it with-out taking the frame apart, it turned into a portable

The touch-pad was annoying at first but I adapted. With the touch screen, your be touching it more than your be using the touch-pad.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Performance and Portability

Pros: Good processor, great graphics card for a mid-range laptop, made with quality material.

Cons: Updating to Windows 8.1 (for some)

Other Thoughts: I was able to get this laptop for ~$730 through Newegg. It is a great value. I can run Battlefield 3 on high, Borderlands 2 plays smoothly on medium/high, and I have not had a problem playing any other games, such as Tomb Raider. This system handles multitasking with ease... and I'm a heavy multitasker.

So, for around $700 to $800, I don't believe you could get a better all-around Windows 8 touchscreen laptop. The screen resolution is not full HD (1366x768), yet as a result games and movies are ran smoother. Despite the screen being glossy as well, it still looks great to me.

If you are considering purchasing this computer, and for the right price, I say go for it. I could not be happier with this one.

(P.S.: when updating to Windows 8.1, be sure to install all the Windows Updates, and also update to the latest NVIDIA drivers. You can choose which programs the NVIDIA graphics card will run over the integrated graphics of the processor.)

1 out of 5 eggsOverpriced garbage.

Pros: Has a touch screen, good graphics card. Lots of memory. It is also a light laptop.

Cons: Where do I begin?

1. It comes with Windows 8, an absolutely awful OS for laptops. Took me days to fiddle with it and get it to work.

2. The clickpad and it's software are terrible. Each time you want to click, you have to use a lot of force with your finger, have fun getting your hand worn out after using this thing for more than a couple hours. The software by Synaptics is also poorly designed and the "SmartSense" feature is absolutely horrid.

3. The Screen is faded and is not bright enough. In fact, the whole reason why Acer claims this laptop has a long battery life is because you can't bring the screen to a normal brightness level!

4. The USB ports are designed awfully. They are far too tight and you WILL scratch and damage your USB's when you try to remove them.

5. No optical drive. That's right, that means you can't use CDs to play games, import business data, or install software. Brilliant.

Other Thoughts: This is an unbelievably poorly designed machine by Acer. The only thing saving it is the low price. I just wish Newegg could give a full refund, this has been the biggest hassle buying a new computer.

1 out of 5 eggsBroken Keyboard other issues

Pros: Can't think of any through the red haze of anger right now.

Cons: As stated in the title, broken down arrow key. Can't find a replacement key for this model either. Closed the lid and went to open it back up after it went into sleep mode and screen flashed incessantly instead of just waking up. All of this in less than a day. This does not bode well for extended ownership/t. Windows 8 is junk. It's workable but still just stupid.

Other Thoughts: Nice return policy for selling broken garbage. ESAD.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop

Pros: Latest haswell core i7
8gb ram
Nvidia 750 4gb dedicated with Nvidia optimus- This adjust graphics depending on what you are doing. If your simply web browsing it will only use Intel HD chipset, if your gaming, it switches to NVidia.
Backlit keyboard

IF you want to install windows 7 please be advise that you will have to download and install missing drivers. Just download the windows 8 drivers for windows 7.

USB 3.0 WILL NOT WORK IN WINDOWS 7!!!! acer does not make a stand alone driver.

Also, if you want to install windows 7,go into BIOS (f2) and disable secure boot and legacy bios. You can only do this by setting a system password inside bios...once complete with installation of windows 7 you can disable the password
F12 is your boot menu.
Its not considered an ultrabook BUT the only reason is because it lacks an SSD Drive which, this computer can hold an Msata SSD

Cons: Doesn't come preinstall with windows 7 and if you want to install windows 7 you will not have USB 3.0

Other Thoughts: I love this laptop, if you want a laptop that has ultrabook specs and can game moderately, this is an idle choice.

So far i have been able to play f1 2013, garry's mod, CSS, diablo 3, battlefield 3 and ALL of Call of Duty games. Now i dont have to leave the couch to play my favorite games.

I would also recommend getting a 120gb Msata SSD. There is a slot on the mother board for one. Just take the screws out of the bottom of computer, very carefully pry and pop the bottom cover off, and the Msata slot is right below the wifi card. You will need a screw to secure the msata drive as it does not have an extra one.
