5 out of 5 eggsGood but very limited upgrades.

Pros: Very small, very thin, and light exactly what the wife wanted.
Battery life should be decent haven't had that long to test it.
The processor is decently fast for a laptop and should serve her well for a long time.

Cons: The reason why iPod this model because I knew it had a M-sata SSD and a thin 2.5 Drive. I also plan on upgrading both of those for SAD and upgrading the Wi-Fi card. The Wi-Fi is not upgradable it is part of the PCB just like the memory. That is a huge problem for me because I have an AC wireless router and I plan to upgrade to an AC Wi-Fi card but I can't.

Other Thoughts: If you don't plan to upgrade the wireless card like I mentioned earlier or the memory which I knew going in it as a great buy because of the two storage options you can later later change.

4 out of 5 eggsReal decent notebook

Pros: Thin, light, looks professional, good specs for the price, 2x USB 3.0, HDMI, Windows 7, Bluetooth.

Cons: Screen has somewhat limited viewing angle, it's very reflective and tends to bounce around as you type. which means you can see your reflection and the office bouncing around while you're trying to work, it's distracting. short battery life. the rear A/C power, USB and HDMI ports are more inconvenient to reach than i expected but that's the nature of this small form factor. you have to suffer for beauty.

Other Thoughts: I got this machine for work because of its small size, light weight, specs, and especially Windows 7. I use a HDMI to VGA adapter to extend the desktop to a larger, older monitor in the office. The Bluetooth function is very easy to configure and works great. I connect the sound to a portable Bluetooth speaker because the onboard speakers are just okay. The pre-installed junkware/bloatware didn't take too long to remove. Windows Experience Index 4.8, bottleneck is in the onboard graphics. I think this machine was a great buy for the money.

4 out of 5 eggsCheap ultrabook

Pros: Decently Fast
SSD Cache (Uses ExpressCache!!! not Intel Smart Response)
4 second boot times using Intel Rapid Start (from deep hibernation, which can lasts weeks off the battery)
15 second boot times using SSD Cache - from full power off
Super thin, small, light
titanium aesthetic
Awesome value for the money
decent track-pad - the only track-pad I've ever found usable.
Intel HD 4000 graphics (more than I will ever need, flawless video)
"Legacy" BIOS boots as fast as UEFI, but can also boot Linux/Windows _and_ OSX

Cons: Acer Support can be questionable
Factory SSD Cache Drivers are not available from Acer... must be taken from recovery or you're out of luck. - Food for thought if you try and do an OS clean install. Google might help.
The keyboard is average, but not poor
weak speakers
average screen

From what I understand - You can not upgrade the RAM!!!! it's soldered to the mainboard. 4GB is listed as the max.

Other Thoughts: The performance of the LAPTOP is night and day when SSD Caching is enabled... so don't lose those factory settings.

1 out of 5 eggsAlready Sent Back to Acer for Repairs

Pros: The laptop is very light, boots quickly, and has a terrific form factor.

Cons: After 3 weeks of light use, we had to call customer support and send the unit back to Acer. It looks like the back-light on the display went dead. Since it's covered under warranty, Acer is paying for shipping back to their facility in Texas for repairs. However, I don't think it's ever a good sign when the hardware in your laptop fails in under a month.

5 out of 5 eggsA very nice ultrabook

Pros: This very this thin ultrabook has a nice screen, boots very quickly (becasue of the SSD), and comes with the very useful Windows 7, instead of the horrid abomination that is Windows 8. The WiFi seems to work very well, even at distances other laptops struggle with. The built-in video camera is nice and works very well in low light.

The system seems more than fast enough to edit photos, watch videos, deal with large spreadsheets, or any other task I have tried with it.

Cons: This unit comes with plenty of crapware that needs to be deleted.

The only indicator LEDs are for the battery charge state and power. There are no indications for the HDD, caps lock, or num lock.

The keys have less travel than I like, but that is part of the very thin form factor.

There are only 2 USB ports, and they are both on the back of the unit with none easily accessible on the side.

Because of the very thin form factor the only video out is a HDMI port also on the back, thus the lack of a VGAport (or DVI) will make it impossible to connect this computer to many projectors or older monitors.

Other Thoughts: Order a system restore disk from ACER for $20. They are always good to have. I would have been much happier if the restore disk was included with the system, but getting it is a good investment.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Mid Range Laptop

Pros: -Cool looking, Small and Thin
-3 pounds
-Intel i5
-Metal outcasing
-Windows 7
-Hybrid 500 GB HDD

Cons: -No Backlite keyboard
-Keyboard is ok
-Inside of laptop case is plastic
-Speakers are a little dry
-2-4 hour battery life

Other Thoughts: I got this laptop for my wife. Who immediately loved and professed her love for it for the whole week. It is very attractive to look at, I found myself wanting to use it and I did more than she did for the first few days. The i5 and Hybrid drive make the laptop quick and easy to use. The first restart I did surprised me on how fast it rebooted. Having windows 7 is nice I'm not against windows 8 but I am a fan of having all household computers using the same operating system. It cools through the keyboard which is nice because you don't have to worry about heat if it is sitting on a bed or pillow. The fan can get kinda loud, just noticeable if you bother to listen to it. The battery is lacking lasting about 2.5 hours while listening to music, surfing downloading and installing going on. It multitasks well just don't do a lot of multitasking if you are away from an outlet for a long time. The longest I have used the laptop has been about 4.5 - 5 hours long which is not bad but I didn't buy it for its battery life. I bought this laptop because it was functional and sexy which is what my wife likes ; ) I payed 580 for this laptop which is a fair price I wouldn't pay more than 600 for it even though when this laptop first came out it was in the 900 range. The keyboard is a little lacking for my tastes but my wife likes it a lot. Overall this is a fine laptop that is light, pleasing to look at, quick and functional. It feels well built and because of the i5 it is falls under the Ultrabook category which is nice.
