4 out of 5 eggsGreat as a remote terminal or mobile netbook

Pros: Lightweight, cool-running, surprisingly versatile, very long battery life (Up to 6 hours with light use), very easy to carry, comfortable keyboard, very fast boot time

Cons: No discrete buttons for touchpad, weak processor capabilities, still somewhat dependent on internet access, no Unity support

Other Thoughts: After I retired my battleworn college laptop and built myself a new desktop computer, I found myself often wanting to check various things on the internet when I was away from the PC, but I'm not a fan of smartphones that barely run in rural areas to start with, so I decided to buy the Chromebook to try. It's no powerhouse, but the Chrome OS is very lightweight- being little more than a juiced up web browser on a Linux kernal, it is lightning-fast on boot time and running basic web browsing. I have managed to bump into the limitations of the mobile-oriented browser through Flash games, however, and while it is much more capable than it was when Google originally released the Chromebooks, you can only get so much done without a PC. I think I've found the best of both worlds by using the Chrome Remote Desktop to access my PC when I'm afield, and by pushing the heavy lifting out of the unit in my hands I've been able to get a battery life that my old laptop could only dream of without an extender. The keyboard is comfortable, but the touchpad doesn't come with mouse buttons, so don't be surprised when you have trouble with making accidental gestures when trying to drag things around the screen.

Overall, while this Chromebook is by no means a hero, it makes an excellent sidekick and field agent to complement a well-built desktop.
