Pros: Specs speak for themselves. Can't really ask for much more. Maybe 32GB of DDR4, but not needed at this point, will upgrade later. the 980M is a beast. Every on ultra always. SSD boot is uber fast as you'd expect.

Cons: I got the 17.3" which is a big boy, and some people might consider that a con, but I can't imagine anyone spending $2k on a laptop and not factoring that in ahead of time.

Other Thoughts: I tried buying this same laptop on TDirect and they fouled it up so horrifically not once, not twice but 3 times in sending it out. I will never buy so much as a blank cd from them again after being a customer for 11 years. Newegg managed to get it to me a day faster than the shipping I paid for , because I paid the $2.50 "rush my shipment" option. I'll be sticking to Newegg from now on.

Pros: This is in response to Mark. Like yourself I was field troubleshooter for all computers. I do not like sloppy workmanship. Sometimes these things happen! and when they do and believe me they do , sometimes often. Like yourself I was sent in to resolve the issue at hand. that Being said I was wondering doesn't Newegg still have a return policy. I have used it on several occasions with no problem.

Cons: As far as Acer is concerned I did in-counter a problem several years ago.. I found Acer to be very helpful in resolving the issue at hand.

Pros: It was shipped. Nothing else yet.

Cons: I am a SA, and support desktop/notebook units in the corporate environment. Before anything, the first inspection item is the external build quality: in the case of this Acer G9-791-78CE, out of the box and not powered up, it was noted the bottom base plate (covering the memory slots) was not properly attached and the screws holding same appeared to be askew and stripped.

Other Thoughts: I contacted Acer support via its online chat. Arrogantly, the chat person noted that Acer had policies and procedures that customers had to follow, and that I (the customer) was responsible for shipping the unit back to Acer for a repair period of 10-15 days. I will not power up the unit until a satisfactory response for Acer or Newegg is received. I am the one who repairs the hardware on a corporate level, and 10-15 days is unacceptable: all I would like is a replacement base plate with valid pieces (screws not stripped) from Acer.

Acer's average turn around for repair is 7-10 days and that includes the time it takes for return shipping. We'd also be glad to cover the inbound shipping cost for you, especially on a product you just received (our support staff can assist with this). I've noted your account as I was able to find your contact with us from last week.

Again, I'd like to apologize, I don't know how the bottom of the casing got to you in the manner than it is, however, our repair staff will be able to resolve this.
