Do I need to get a SSD in this computer if I plan on gaming with it?

Accepted Answer

No, an SSD is not required to play even the latest games. I am happily play Dragon Age Inquisition and Assassin's Creed on high and medium settings, respectively, without lagging. Alien Isolation can be ramped up to maximum settings and plays great. Older games are no problem at all. Of course, you can always opt for a full SSD drive, I don't particularly like the hybrid drive, it is slow on low hardware impacting software, like Word. But for gaming, you're set. What kind of trackpad gestures are there? Is the trackpad smooth?

There's a setting to swap between recent apps when you slide in on to the track-pad from the left which can be disabled, however when it's on I've sometimes noticed that my left palm will trigger it or when I try to left click something. There's another similar setting when doing the same thing on the right side that pulls out the little menu over on the right, which I don't accidentally set off much at all. It's got pinch to zoom as well (Which I just found out about playing with it to accurately answer your question :P)  but other than that I haven't found any more gestures. I've mostly used my y50 for gaming, using a mouse of course, so I haven't spent much time using the track-pad but with any of my experience with it, it has worked just fine!

The battery last no longer than 3 hours if u are watching videos . I don't know about gaming bc I plug in my charger  all the time when I'm playing . It increases fps. Two disadvantages is the battery and the screen. But that's not a big proble. Overall this computer Is really good!!

Will it void the warranty to change the LCD screen? I saw on youtube you can easily buy a new screen and swap it. And if this does void the warranty, how would they know? there is no warranty sticker in the top part of the computer
