4 out of 5 eggsGood laptop except for the bad touchpad

Pros: - HD screen
- Backlit keyboard and no driver is required for the keyboard light.

Cons: - Bad touchpad as mentioned below
- Function keys are reversed. To get F1, I need to press Fn+F1. By default, F1 mutes the speakers. I had to go into the bios to switch back the function keys.
- A little heavy. I had a Vaio with similar features. This laptop is noticably heavier.
- Screws under the keyboard. I had to remove the back to swap out the hard drive and needed to remove the keyboard first to get to the screws.
- Windows 8. If you dislike the Metro gui (like me), you can install Windows 7 or Classic Shell. Lenovo provides Windows 7 drivers for this laptop.

Other Thoughts: For the most part, this is a good laptop for the price. The touchscreen seems to be a waste since the laptop does not fold into a tablet. My biggest complaint is the touchpad. They combined the pad with the buttons, which makes the pad and buttons worse. The pad feels loose and can be unresponsive to double taps and the mouse cursor may move when clicking the buttons. I've used other laptops with the same touchpad design, and they all have the same issue. It's just a poor design. Also note the touchpad is just slick plastic, so any moisture on your fingertips will make it difficult to use.

On a side note, a previous reviewer mentioned the Lenovo whitelist. This list only applies to wireless cards. I swapped out the OEM hard drive with a SSD drive. Other than a small bios change (set Boot Mode = Legacy), the new drive worked fine.

2 out of 5 eggsIt WAS a good idea....

Pros: Low-level tech knowledge college student POV: This laptop was great (in theory ultimately). I loved the touch screen and apps. After having dealt with smart phones I didn't feel like getting to know 8.1 was that difficult and the touch screen comp monitor was almost intuitive. Over-all was a cool concept, and I had a nifty gadget to help me get through my day on campus....

Cons: ....but that is exactly what I got it for, was to carry on campus so I could have a computer to work on campus!!

First computer I got was defective and kept ejecting the disc drive randomly, sometimes multiple times in a row, whenever it wanted. So sent that back, but again, liked the look, feel, and concept of the computer, so got a replacement.

After only two weeks of use, the screen broke. I have come to believe mine broke from simply being carried in my backpack. Never dropped or run into anything! So from an older college students perspective, not a great investment if I have to carry the thing around like a faberge egg. Luckily all these issues reared their ugly heads within the 30 day return period and newegg was fantastic about all of it!!

Also, small gripe about the sensitivity of the touchpad.... I hooked up a mouse just because of the issues with it... but in the grand scheme of the aforementioned, not that big of a deal...

4 out of 5 eggsLenovo Flex 2-15

Pros: 1. Clear and good looking screen.
2. Using the laptop in tablet mode with the keyboard as a stand turned out the be very convenient for in bed anime watching.

Cons: 1. The M.2 wifi adapter in this thing is horrible, it has known issues, and I blame my self for buying this laptop with out doing my research.
2. The hybrid drive/sdd is slow.
3. The laptop only contains one m.2 interface inside and that is used but the wifi card.
4. The bios is locked, and lenovo has a hardware white list.
5. I tried to upgrade the laptop with an intel 730 240gb ssd, and the bios did not recognize it.
6. It turns out Lenovo and HP now put hardware whitelists in the bios of laptops, to prevent you from upgrading with with parts that they did not put their seal of approval. They also like to charge %500 more for the same exact item, only difference being their seal of approval, and profit for them.

Other Thoughts: Do Not Buy!

You will not be able to upgrade the horrible wifi card and sdd, with out spending a fortune on a limited list of lenovo approved hardware.

Check out the masses of people unhappy at lenovo in their support forum because of hardware whitelists.

3 out of 5 eggsLenovo Flex is good buy

Pros: This product has been a quality device for performing most office and entertainment functions. The 15.6 " screen is bright and the resolution more than adequate. I love the backlit keyboard and the touchscreen is as sensitive as you would need for normal everyday tasks. The DVD player and internet connectivity are excellent.

Cons: Despite my overall approval of this laptop there are several areas that could use improvement. Number one, the touchpad is not as sensitive as one would like to control normal functions. When using the left click button, you must press close to the posterior edge or when using data boxes on websites that require input, annoying pop-up boxes interfere with usage. second problem is the absence of control buttons for controlling DVD play. Third, the power button is recessed and placed near the back on the right side behind the DVD player. The button is so small and so recessed it is difficult to activate unless you are looking directly at it. Fourth, the Lenovo add-on software is replete with unwanted software and applications, that I find no utility for. Windows 8.1 is annoying to learn in my opinion, with a charm bar that will not go away! The first laptop I received came with a dead hard drive day one. Newegg immediately replaced the laptop and I have had no problem for more than four months.

Other Thoughts: A good overall device. I would recommend this laptop if you don't mind the above deficits.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop

Pros: 1080 screen is very nice. Back lit keyboard has muti levels of brightness, overall soild unit, fast, smooth touch screen. Upgradeable.

Cons: Nothing I can see for my perferance. Only if someone is a heavy on the keyboard, It does have some flex. To me It's the best laptop I think its one of the best laptops you can buy for the money with all the feautres.

Other Thoughts: I have had this for almost a week; it works well runs Photoshop just fine. The Flip screen is really nice and works well when flipped. The laptop is thinner in person then what it looks like in the pictures (if anyone is going by just pictures.) its a very nice unit and I am very happy with its performance, battery life, upgradeability and does not get hot. It also looks really nice.

1 out of 5 eggscheap parts not worth it

Pros: It seemed like a decent laptop for school but the screen broke from shutting it in a month.

Cons: I have had this for a month and the screen broke from shutting it. I have never dropped it. Please do not buy this product because I was quoted from Lenovo that it would cost 300-400 to replace the screen. I am so disappointed with this product and will NEVER buy from them again. I feel like a dunce for being conned by this company. Thanks for making a full time college student, whom pays for everything out pocket, that much further in debt.

Other Thoughts: It would have been perfect for me if it was not completely worthless.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat product from Lenovo

Pros: Beautiful to look at
Thin and light for such a large screen
Incredibly fast
Great screen and sound
Good build

Cons: None that I can see so far

Other Thoughts: Just happened on this beauty when looking for a backlit keyboard and with Windows 8.1, which I consider to be vastly superior to 8.0. The price was great and so is the product. I have a vast experience with all kinds of laptops -- from XP through 8.1.

This is the fastest laptop I own, including top-of-the-line 3D models from HP, Sony and Dell. And setup was a breeze.

I have not owned this machine very long, but I just love it. It is so easy to navigate around, and the keyboard has a good feel. The backlighting is not too bright, but very helpful, indeed, when working in low light or at night.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Surprisingly fast, it can keep up with a few of the games I play on pretty high settings.
Touch screen is super handy at times.
"Stand" mode is handy when only wanting the touch screen aspect.
Lightweight build.

Cons: Keyboard feels a bit cheep.
Touchpad mouse will occasionally just stop working.. I've noticed it happens a lot when unlocking the computer only using the touchscreen options.

Personal cons:
Mousepad buttons aren't separate. The mouse can still move when "on" the left/right click portion.
Touchscreen doesn't work too well with photoshop. If you're zoomed in, dragging your finger when attempting to paint will just move the photo.

Other Thoughts: All-in-all, it's a great buy.

3 out of 5 eggsTakes some getting used to

Pros: lightweight; good battery life; good camera

Cons: The Windows 8 definitely takes some getting used to. I am struggling more with the keyboard. On a normal keyboard the Enter, Shift, and Control keys line up one under the other. Not so on this keyboard. The up and down arrows are directly under the Enter where the shift should be. So I'm constantly hitting the up arrow when I want to shift. After more than a month this is still an issue for me.

Other Thoughts: Windows Defender does not appear to be as good as the Windows Essentials (preWindows 8 version) at getting rid of malware. Some how I acquired All Day Savings and nothing Windows Defender does can get rid of it.
