3 out of 5 eggsLenovo Flex is good buy

Pros: This product has been a quality device for performing most office and entertainment functions. The 15.6 " screen is bright and the resolution more than adequate. I love the backlit keyboard and the touchscreen is as sensitive as you would need for normal everyday tasks. The DVD player and internet connectivity are excellent.

Cons: Despite my overall approval of this laptop there are several areas that could use improvement. Number one, the touchpad is not as sensitive as one would like to control normal functions. When using the left click button, you must press close to the posterior edge or when using data boxes on websites that require input, annoying pop-up boxes interfere with usage. second problem is the absence of control buttons for controlling DVD play. Third, the power button is recessed and placed near the back on the right side behind the DVD player. The button is so small and so recessed it is difficult to activate unless you are looking directly at it. Fourth, the Lenovo add-on software is replete with unwanted software and applications, that I find no utility for. Windows 8.1 is annoying to learn in my opinion, with a charm bar that will not go away! The first laptop I received came with a dead hard drive day one. Newegg immediately replaced the laptop and I have had no problem for more than four months.

Other Thoughts: A good overall device. I would recommend this laptop if you don't mind the above deficits.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop

Pros: 1080 screen is very nice. Back lit keyboard has muti levels of brightness, overall soild unit, fast, smooth touch screen. Upgradeable.

Cons: Nothing I can see for my perferance. Only if someone is a heavy on the keyboard, It does have some flex. To me It's the best laptop I think its one of the best laptops you can buy for the money with all the feautres.

Other Thoughts: I have had this for almost a week; it works well runs Photoshop just fine. The Flip screen is really nice and works well when flipped. The laptop is thinner in person then what it looks like in the pictures (if anyone is going by just pictures.) its a very nice unit and I am very happy with its performance, battery life, upgradeability and does not get hot. It also looks really nice.

1 out of 5 eggscheap parts not worth it

Pros: It seemed like a decent laptop for school but the screen broke from shutting it in a month.

Cons: I have had this for a month and the screen broke from shutting it. I have never dropped it. Please do not buy this product because I was quoted from Lenovo that it would cost 300-400 to replace the screen. I am so disappointed with this product and will NEVER buy from them again. I feel like a dunce for being conned by this company. Thanks for making a full time college student, whom pays for everything out pocket, that much further in debt.

Other Thoughts: It would have been perfect for me if it was not completely worthless.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat product from Lenovo

Pros: Beautiful to look at
Thin and light for such a large screen
Incredibly fast
Great screen and sound
Good build

Cons: None that I can see so far

Other Thoughts: Just happened on this beauty when looking for a backlit keyboard and with Windows 8.1, which I consider to be vastly superior to 8.0. The price was great and so is the product. I have a vast experience with all kinds of laptops -- from XP through 8.1.

This is the fastest laptop I own, including top-of-the-line 3D models from HP, Sony and Dell. And setup was a breeze.

I have not owned this machine very long, but I just love it. It is so easy to navigate around, and the keyboard has a good feel. The backlighting is not too bright, but very helpful, indeed, when working in low light or at night.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Surprisingly fast, it can keep up with a few of the games I play on pretty high settings.
Touch screen is super handy at times.
"Stand" mode is handy when only wanting the touch screen aspect.
Lightweight build.

Cons: Keyboard feels a bit cheep.
Touchpad mouse will occasionally just stop working.. I've noticed it happens a lot when unlocking the computer only using the touchscreen options.

Personal cons:
Mousepad buttons aren't separate. The mouse can still move when "on" the left/right click portion.
Touchscreen doesn't work too well with photoshop. If you're zoomed in, dragging your finger when attempting to paint will just move the photo.

Other Thoughts: All-in-all, it's a great buy.

3 out of 5 eggsTakes some getting used to

Pros: lightweight; good battery life; good camera

Cons: The Windows 8 definitely takes some getting used to. I am struggling more with the keyboard. On a normal keyboard the Enter, Shift, and Control keys line up one under the other. Not so on this keyboard. The up and down arrows are directly under the Enter where the shift should be. So I'm constantly hitting the up arrow when I want to shift. After more than a month this is still an issue for me.

Other Thoughts: Windows Defender does not appear to be as good as the Windows Essentials (preWindows 8 version) at getting rid of malware. Some how I acquired All Day Savings and nothing Windows Defender does can get rid of it.

4 out of 5 eggsGood option for basic games and Windows 8

Pros: Good value for your money.

Screen resolution is nice, touch screen sensitivity is great, Windows 8.1 seems to work quite well on here. The flip to stand mode is a very nice feature and it feels solid, I am not worried that I will break it by flipping the keyboard back.

Size is excellent, the full keyboard with number pad is great, thin and fairly light, doesn't get too hot while running.

Graphics card may be minimal, but it does what I need it to do quite well. The processor and hard drive are also fast enough to be comfortable. Having the hybrid drive seems to decrease the boot time substantially.

Battery charges fast and there are plenty of USB ports.

Cons: The battery life when running on high performance is around an hour. I get around 3 hrs on balanced and 6.5 on power saver. Since it is an internal battery, upgrading it is not very plausible.

The screen doesn't seem to get as bright as my other laptops. It has a great display, however if the sun is shining near your screen it can get tough to see, even when at maximum brightness.

Other Thoughts: Great option for how cheap it is.

Could easily and cheaply add another stick of ram to bump it up to 8GB and could swap the hard drive for a full solid state if you need the increased speed.

There isn't too much bloatware, enough that you notice it, but it is all practical in one way or another. Much better than bloatware that you would get on a Verizon phone....

4 out of 5 eggsGood Laptop, Stand Mode is more useful than you think!

Pros: So, the laptop works well overall - so far no major problems with mundane tasks. Hybrid SSD seems to make things a bit snappier, memory is enough for all the tasks you should expect to be doing on this computer (browsing, word processing, low-intensity gaming, media entertainment).
This is probably the biggest word of advice I have to give - the dual mode function of this laptop is much more useful than it seems! to all buyers who are not so sure how much they'll use the stand mode, Im telling you it's more natural than it seems. I've been using it while browsing and especially while playing Civ and it's especially cool to perform functions at PC speeds while using them like a big tablet. Feels kinda silly but fun nonetheless. Only little downside to this is that IE has the best touch support still, so if you're into browsing in stand mode youll probably find yourself stuk with that.
I have been playing civ 5 all the time on this thing. it's a little lower than medium settings, but still runs smoothly most of the time with the exception of a few sparse intermittent crashes that I expect will go away after turning settings down further.
As for the physical material, the brushed metal around the keyboard is nice. The backlit keyboard is great; it has two different brightness settings and can be toggled very easily. Keyboard is sturdy unless you're really pounding on those keys.

Cons: Some parts of the body feel a little dangerous. The plastic hood on the screen feels less strong than I would hope at its seams, and the hinge (while still exceptional in its function) also seems that way. However, nothing that feels flimsy to me has actually shown any real signs of breakage, all petty feelings aside.
I have read that people have had problems with the Wi-Fi receiver on some of the other configurations of this laptop. The only thing I have to say about that is, this laptop does seem to keep a less stable connection than other machines in the house, for example if i'm in a somewhat inconvenient location, streaming will be interrupted about every ten minutes. Not sure if this is my own network problem or not, but given the performance of other computers in our house i'm fairly confident that the receiver in here is at least contributing to the problem.

Other Thoughts: Good laptop. This is my first taste of Lenovo quality and I'm satisfied. Only reason not a 5 is because of the wifi card
