3 out of 5 eggsGood enough?

Pros: Runs cool, and still feels (after owning for 3 months) like a fair price point for the cost (I paid $999.00)

Cons: Two major flaws:

1. If the power ever gets too low and the laptop shuts off, the laptop will fail to recognize the battery when you plug in the power cable! What I experience is that the laptop will then turn on because you have the power connected, but a message will pop up that the battery is unrecognized and therefore will not charge. It seems to be a problem with the threading of the battery while in the Z710, and this appears to be pretty common as I see tons of other people complaining about the issue online. A work around I have to do is to fully remove the battery and then reinsert it (or be very diligent to not let the battery charge level to get too low).

2. Lenovo has shipped these with adware and bloatware (Superfish)

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Deliverd fast, Hardware is great

Cons: Getting tech support is a scam, you have to pay either a 1 time charge of $129 or get locked into a support contract for $19.99 a month. with a $10 a moth early termination charge!

Other Thoughts: If I knew I had to pay that much for support, after owning it less than 2 months I would never have bought a Lenovo!

1 out of 5 eggsWORST BUY EVER!

Pros: none

Cons: I am a100% disabled (PTSD) Vietnam Veteran with multiple physical disabilities. Because of these conditionsI have vast amount of free time. Since 1999 I have been deeply involved as OEM system builder, registered Microsoft Partner and long term member of Microsofts TechNet. That said I have never purchased any tech item as bad as this Lenovo notebook. With the specifications of this laptop one would think it would be fast, in fact, VERY FAST. Unfortunately the laptop I received runs slower than an AMD PC I built over 12 years ago. A simple defragmentation run on this Lenovo lemon took over an an hour. A second run took over 3o minutes. I had very high hopes for this laptop (which I could barely afford).and needless to say am disgusted. I have been a NewEgg customer since NewEgg, had a website with only five pages. I hope that I will be able RMA this useless laptop, and will be calling NewEgg on Monday (I am writing this on weekend evening.

Other Thoughts: This not my first Lenovo laptop, however it will definiely b my last. Buyer Beware!

4 out of 5 eggsGood machine

Pros: i7, hybrid ssd/spinning disk, 16GB of ram is lightning fast. Very smooth running Windows 8- especially after installing service packs, etc. I do a lot of virtualization with VMWare and Open Box- terrific for these purposes. Screen resolution is superb. Nice looking machine on my desk.

Cons: Keyboard is somewhat like a Mac but not as good. Overall the machine doesn't feel as solid as my Ideapad y530 or any older Lenovo products which still had the IBM engineering influence. I had been a Thinkpad snob for many years- but any trace of the old goodness is gone.

Other Thoughts: This thing feels a bit delicate and I think the user would be advised to be careful not to drop it or bump it. For what I paid I am very happy so far.

2 out of 5 eggsUnder-powered charger

Pros: Good price

Cons: Came with 90w adapter. It needs 135w. No recourse from Newegg or Lenovo. Beware!
Price not so good after purchasing proper charging adapter.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat product

Pros: The 16 gigs of RAM and 2 gigs of graphics memory makes for great game play along with the ability to run processor intensive programs. the screen is clear and the 17 inches make for a great display when playing a game or watching a movie. The HDD in mine is about 850 gigs and the SSD is about 24 gigs but it all works great for me, not a big problem atleast. The keyboard is comfortable to use compared to the keyboards I've used in the past.

Cons: The keyboard does seem to have a weird fit but it doesn't really effect my flow of typing, by fit i mean it bends down a little when I press on the keys, its hard to tell if its meant to do this. the touch pad is very bothersome to use. just not enjoyable but it isn't impossible to use, i went and got a USB mouse to use instead of the touch pad. the battery life isn't what i wish it was.

Other Thoughts: The price is very good for what you get as far as the performance goes.

4 out of 5 eggsLenovo Notebook

Pros: Large screen, quiet, and runs cool
The I7 handles all the rendering i can throw at it and the graphics card is able to handle most games on medium settings
boots up fast compared to others due to the SSD

Cons: The battery last 4 hours if your lucky so keep the charger on hand at all times or bring a spare power source

Other Thoughts: i use my laptop for work mostly which this excels at wish the battery was bigger so i may invest in another spare or even a lager one.

5 out of 5 eggsAntonline is great

Pros: Was a little concerned about ordering this laptop through a NewEgg partner - Antonline. As I wrote in another review Lenovo messed-up the power adapter and has not stood behind their error.

However, Antonline worked with me and send the correct power adapter at no cost. It took a few days to work out but they were great.

Cons: No real cons with Antonline or NewEgg. The Z710 with the nVidia card is a solid performer - so far. Time will tell the tale.

Lenovo is a mess - but it seems they do make good hardware.

Other Thoughts: Always thought going directly to the manufacturer was best. But this experience has shown NewEgg and their partners to be a good way to go.

2 out of 5 eggsDisgusted

Pros: Nice unit. Sleek, fast, and great high-res display.

Cons: This unit has 16GB of RAM and an nVidia 745M that require more power than a base model.

However, Lenovo packaged an under-powered A/C adapter resulting in a message "The connected power adapter cannot supply enough power. Use of this power adapter may lower system performance."

It is utterly ridiculous that a power adapter is included that cannot power the laptop as it is configured.

And, because Lenovo PACKAGED it that way returning this unit as defective would likely result in getting another one just like it.

Further, Lenovo refused to help in any way. So basically I'm stuck buying another power adapter for this brand new laptop.

But it will be the last time I purchase Lenovo.

5 out of 5 eggsBang for the buck

Pros: The fast processor, plenty of RAM and Hybrid drive make this thing FAST. It has done everything I've asked of it. Used the USB 3 port with a USB 3 flash drive to move data, WOW!! Even counting getting it out of the laptop bag it is up and running faster than my desktop. On top of all that it has a BluRay drive and HDMI out so connect a projector and we have movie night too.

Cons: Battery goes pretty quick and keyboard is odd.

Other Thoughts: This system is giving me a fireworks bang for a snap-n-pop price.
