2 out of 5 eggssounds good, but...

Pros: Picked up this laptop after a lot of thought. I wanted a laptop that had some power for when I wanted to play a game but could also be used for work.

What attracted me to it was the specs, which include the high res. screen, touch screen, I7 cpu and that it didn't look like a gaming rig.

What I liked about it...

Specs vs Cost is pretty attractive.
Full Keyboard with good layout for typing.
beautiful screen.

Cons: OK, and here is why I returned it after 1 day of ownership.

1st and most important - Only half the touch pad worked. It is pretty wide and the full left side didn't respond at all. This is probably not a widespread problem but I felt it spoke to its quality. Even the right side that did work was jumpy and seemed pretty useless.

2nd. on the number pad side when you pressed the 5 key you could see the shell around the number dip in with each press. Felt like the flimsy material would break of crack with repeat use.

3rd. the beautiful screen is also its own enemy. The software just isn't ready for such a high res for such a small screen. Some windows would open so small that you had to alter the resolution in order to ready or accept anything. Back and forth trying to come up with a happy medium I ended up changing the screen resolution to 1080p and it never looked very crisp after that.

4th. it feels much bigger (not in a good way) and heaver than I had expected.

5th. TONS of bloat ware on this machine. I spent about 2-3 hours cleaning it up.

Other Thoughts: Overall I was very disappointed in the laptop. Had the trackpad worked correctly I probably wouldn't have returned it. I am not real big on returns... call it lazy or what you will but I may have lived with its faults. However, I did return it and got the HP Omen instead. Wow, am I glad that I did! It is a bit more expensive than the Lenovo but the quality of the machine is WAY better. The 1080 screen is crisp and feels right at this screen size. The keyboard on the Omen isn't perfect as it is shifted to the right of she screen a bit and takes some getting used to but I am so glad I traded up!

Omen vs Y50: Same size but Omen feels much thinner and lighter, same GPU, CPU, touchscreen, and backlit keys (but Omen lets you change the colors) more expensive but better quality.

You get what you pay for!
