4 out of 5 eggsNice product

This review is from: Lenovo IdeaPad Y700 (80NV0029US) Gaming Laptop Intel Core i7 6700HQ (2.60 GHz) 8 GB Memory 256 GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M 4 GB GDDR5 15.6" Windows 10 Home 64-Bit

Pros: This laptop looks cool
Runs good you can easily tell that it is DDR4 RAM lighting fast.
The i7 sky lake processor runs through games easily.
The 960m GPU is very comparable to the full sized 960 desktop GPU's that I've used.

Cons: The SSD is in the M.2 slot and the space is small for any games now days.
You will have to buy the bracket and cable from a supplier if you want to expand the disk space in the HDD slot.
Shows fingerprints all over the laptop.
Is kinda heavy to be expected with the hardware on
Bottom panel is hard to remove

Other Thoughts: I would recommend getting the version with both HDD and SSD unless your comfortable with taking it apart.
This laptop preforms above my desktop with the GTX 960 and i7 4770 with 32 GIGs of DDR3 RAM

1 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop potential, but a royal piece of junk

This review is from: Lenovo IdeaPad Y700 (80NV0029US) Gaming Laptop Intel Core i7 6700HQ (2.60 GHz) 8 GB Memory 256 GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M 4 GB GDDR5 15.6" Windows 10 Home 64-Bit

Pros: Great speed and graphics when it works

Cons: The laptop isn't even put together right. Half the time it uses the integrated graphics chip, the other half the dedicated Nvidia.
The graphics card crashes over %50 of the time
Have to restart the computer 6-7 times a day just to run applications because "application requires direct x and yours doesn't have it", but restarting seems to temporarily fix it.
When ever you put the computer to sleep, the display will never come back on unless you do a hard reboot/power off. Then it starts up in a hard drive error that cannot find your hard drive. Then you have to turn off again and hope it starts up after the first try of many.
The description is completely false, the battery only lasts a an hour or so with just internet browsing. It dies in 45 minutes if playing a game. (this is after less than 1 week of use)

Other Thoughts: I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS JUNK to anyone. It looks like an incredible deal at a value price, but everything has a catch. The catch is that this laptop is poorly put together and the system is constantly crashing fresh out of the box. Before and After all necessary updates. I do computer repairs and why this thing is crashing for various random reasons, allllll the time, is beyond me.

If money grew on tree's, i'd find some creative ways to destroy this. I wouldn't even donate it to a child in need.

5 out of 5 eggsLove

This review is from: Lenovo IdeaPad Y700 (80NV0029US) Gaming Laptop Intel Core i7 6700HQ (2.60 GHz) 8 GB Memory 256 GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M 4 GB GDDR5 15.6" Windows 10 Home 64-Bit

Pros: So, this is a wonderful machine with some quirks. First, a previous reviewer indicated their inability to extend the screen to a second monitor; ignore them. This DOES only have one video output for said task, in the form of HDMI 1.4 (Booooo. Need. 120hz. Gaming.). The M.2 SSD is not terrible, certainly much better than a spinning disk. I have not opened my laptop yet, but I expect I will find that i am missing the HDD bracket and cable for the HDD bay. On arrival, I immediately reinstalled Win10 using the MS Win 10 Media Creation Tool, nuking the preloaded junk and freeing up about 40gb of partitioned space for Lenovo's 'One Key Recovery'. Be sure to get the drivers for this variant, the Y700-15ISK from Lenovo. If you ever wish to use the One Key Recovery feature, do not ever repartition the boot drive under any circumstance or it will be lost, requiring sending the laptop back to Lenovo for repair to get back. As I am in the tech industry, this was about the least critical feature for me. This machine comes with 2x 4GB sticks of DDR4 2133 and the specs suggest the max supported memory is 16gb.

Overall, I love this machine. It blows my mind that the most powerful machine i've personally owned is a laptop. This thing eats up BF4 and is currently the most demanding game I am interested in playing, but I am confident it will play plenty of future games well enough for me. The entire shell of the laptop feels like quality and sturdy. The speakers are decent, the screen is very nice, the finish on the keyboard bezel is amazing. I have nVidia global settings to nVidia performance preferred and get ~4.5 hours of battery with the screen brightness maxed. I was in fact able to play BF4 on the battery; it is not required to be plugged into the wall to make use of the dedicated GPU, though I have not measured the battery life in that situation. :p

This is also my first AC wireless device (2x2) and get a linkrate of 867 mbit connected to my Asus AC56R (2x2), which is very neat. And I think that's about all there is to say.

Cons: I have finally opened the laptop and can confirm the lack of the SATA cable adapter and HDD bracket. Quite disappointing.

Other Thoughts: If it weren't for the fact that i can play BF4 all night without a laptop cooling pad, I would have knocked an egg off.

1 out of 5 eggsLenovo Suport kills this machine

This review is from: Lenovo IdeaPad Y700 (80NV0029US) Gaming Laptop Intel Core i7 6700HQ (2.60 GHz) 8 GB Memory 256 GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M 4 GB GDDR5 15.6" Windows 10 Home 64-Bit

Pros: Laptop is probably fine

Cons: Lenovo customer support is completely and utterly incompetent

Other Thoughts: This laptop is probably going back unused and unopened because Lenovo support in ordering parts and getting information is 100% full of failure. I have dealt with Dell for the last six years and I wanted away to a comparable computer with hopefully better support/service.

Lenovo is not that company. Lenovo is, somehow, WORSE than Dell. I have lost over an hour and a half of phone time, getting transfered/buck-passed 6+ times and dropped twice.

Don't buy Lenovo. Don't buy ANYTHING from them. Their products may be wonderful, but they are a awful company with terrible service and do not deserve your dollars.

3 out of 5 eggsGood with the bad

This review is from: Lenovo IdeaPad Y700 (80NV0029US) Gaming Laptop Intel Core i7 6700HQ (2.60 GHz) 8 GB Memory 256 GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M 4 GB GDDR5 15.6" Windows 10 Home 64-Bit

Pros: Price
Look
Cooling
M.2
Nvidia
Skylake

Cons: Upgrading
Bottom Removal

Other Thoughts: I love the laptop and purchased the one with a m.2 SSD. My plan was to add another sata hard drive to the computer. Once I opened it up, I found that it needed a "Thin" 2.5 drive which is no big deal. But to my surprise it didn't come with the connector for me to hook one up.

Lenovo support stated they do not sell the parts as well. This is really disappointing and I would recommend everyone to order the m.2 and standard hard drive so you can upgrade later.
