5 out of 5 eggsBest Gaming Laptop

This review is from: Razer Blade RZ09-01021101-R3U1 Gaming Notebook Intel Core i7 4702HQ (2.20GHz) 8GB Memory 256GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 765M 2GB GDDR5 14.0" Windows 8.1

Pros: Sharp Screen
LONG battery life
Fast (processing)
High benchmarks on new games (GTX765 = Awesome)
Killer Wireless-N (1202) is very fast; low latency
Fully customizable keyboard keys (and other Razer peripherals)
Speakers (has a little bass and overall great if you're directly at the computer!)
Solid DC jack. There is no way it is breaking. The cord will break first, if it ever does.
All 3 USB jacks are 3.0.

Cons: Speakers (loud and clear when sitting in front of it, not so much when not in front of it.)
Gets hot playing games... However the computer manages the heat in a very efficient manner.
Wireless-N instead of the newer AC technology. (not too much of a con)
The biggest con: The black coating on the computer will come off only if you hit the computer on something else that is metallic. It's a user-error, so I'm not taking an egg off for that. Be VERY careful!!!

Other Thoughts: I'm on it as I'm writing this. I frequently have been playing Hitman: Absolution, DayZ and League of Legends... On Hitman, everything looks like I could reach through the screen and touch Agent 47. It's VERY sharp. The screen brightness is also very easily adjustable by holding down Fn and pressing F8/F9, and so is the keyboard brightness; F10/F11.
Also, there's a bunch of other useful keys on it, using the alternate key-bindings for the Function keys. My favorite being the Back, Skip, Pause/Play function keys that control my itunes while I'm working on something.

This is the best laptop screen I've had, despite the screen size. If i want a bigger screen, I can hook an HDMI cord from the computer to my 55" LED TV and play games with a neat 1080p output.

I ran a benchmark on Hitman: Absolution, on High settings and had a steady 52-60 FPS. After playing it for some time (system was very warm), I re-ran the benchmark and got an average of 45-60.
DayZ: Standalone and League of Legends run flawlessly with a stable 60 FPS.

Another amazing thing about this computer is the software included with it. The computer has ZERO bloatware. In addition, it comes with Network management tools that help limit and prioritize each and every program's usage of your wireless' bandwidth after testing your maximum bandwidth for upload/download.

Each and every keyboard key is FULLY customizable using their Synapse program (also pre-installed with the OS). If you have a Razer Naga (the 12 side-button mouse), it too is customizable!

The wireless card (Killer Wireless-N 1202) is specifically made to be low-latency. Wireless-N is still pretty new, and AC is state-of-the-art right now. N, still, is extremely fast. Once the computer is out of warranty, The card can be unplugged from the motherboard.

SSD (LMT-256M6M): I have the 256GB. It's worth the money to go up to a 256. I'd hate to carry around a Ext HDD. It is SATA III, and has a read/write speed of 520mb/s read, 420mb/s write. It's mSATA as well. (replaceable)

The memory is more than I'll ever need - 8GB of DDR3. I use about 5-6GB of it overall, while having Hitman, Chrome (I usually have ~6+ windows open at a time), Steam and iTunes running.

People complain about the screen because of the size... But the whole point of this laptop is the ultimate mobility + dedicated gaming computer. That's exactly what I bought it for, and I have not been disappointed.

5 out of 5 eggsEggcellent Notebook

This review is from: Razer Blade RZ09-01021101-R3U1 Gaming Notebook Intel Core i7 4702HQ (2.20GHz) 8GB Memory 256GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 765M 2GB GDDR5 14.0" Windows 8.1

Pros: The quality of the notebook is superb. Build quality is awesome, thinner than I expected and the keyboard and trackpad are amazing. Razer got this thing right! I tested the boot up times between my late 2013 rMBP and the Razer Blade and the Blade booted in less than 7 seconds compared to 12-15 sec rMBP. Also shut down times was amazing averaging 4 seconds. This thing is fast and its a real beast of machine. So far battery life seems to last as advertised. I haven't played games on battery yet so we'll see.

Cons: For a $2000 notebook, the screen is not what you would expect, but if you do your research you will understand why they went with this screen. Please see my "other thoughts" about this

Other Thoughts: Okay so let's be honest about the screen. It's not the greatest screen in the world and I was so close to cancelling this order. I went ahead and took a chance and kept it, and I am definitely glad I did. Don't believe all the bad hype about the screen. As long as you are in front of it, it's perfectly fine. You really need to have this thing in front of you to appreciate it. No review is going to replace the hands on experience with this notebook. If you are interested in the Blade, then just get it. You won't be disappointed.

5 out of 5 eggsMy favorite computer ever

This review is from: Razer Blade RZ09-01021101-R3U1 Gaming Notebook Intel Core i7 4702HQ (2.20GHz) 8GB Memory 256GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 765M 2GB GDDR5 14.0" Windows 8.1

Pros: I cant say enough about this computer. It has better performance than my desktop, and it is as light as a feather. This laptop can run everything you throw at it. It also does not come pre-loaded with any bloatware, and it runs longer than I would have expected on battery. The materials do not hold onto grease, and I get lot of compliments on the look. The support staff of Razer is very helpful.

Cons: I would have loved a little bump in resolution, but I understand why they keep it low. There also is not a lot of support in the accessory department as it is made by a boutique company (example UK power adapter) so you have to rig something to work.

Other Thoughts: Still the best thing I have bought with a motherboard, and I have built computer's myself before.

5 out of 5 eggsAlmost Perfect

This review is from: Razer Blade RZ09-01021101-R3U1 Gaming Notebook Intel Core i7 4702HQ (2.20GHz) 8GB Memory 256GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 765M 2GB GDDR5 14.0" Windows 8.1

Pros: Compact, thin and powerful

Cons: It's a fingerprint magnet.

Other Thoughts: I wanted the sexy Macbook look with the performance and flexibility of a PC. This gave it to me.

5 out of 5 eggsRazer Blade

This review is from: Razer Blade RZ09-01021101-R3U1 Gaming Notebook Intel Core i7 4702HQ (2.20GHz) 8GB Memory 256GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 765M 2GB GDDR5 14.0" Windows 8.1

Pros: Really slick, and really fast. It's also a laptop, this isn't a simple desktop replacement.

Cons: Looking through the pcb for the motherboard everything is soldered down, the upgradeability is essentially zero, that is unless you have access to a BGA rework machine.

This config only comes with 8 gigs of memory.

Windows 8, this is a personaly choice issue, easily can install another OS if you deem otherwise - so don't discount it for windows 8 alone.

The aluminum just north of the keyboard is really hot when gaming, if you miss the number row you'll get a reminder of this weird thermal management design.

Other Thoughts: I'm not entirely sure how much support there is for linux on this machine, so little has been written on attempting to do so.

5 out of 5 eggsSatisfied customer

This review is from: Razer Blade RZ09-01021101-R3U1 Gaming Notebook Intel Core i7 4702HQ (2.20GHz) 8GB Memory 256GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 765M 2GB GDDR5 14.0" Windows 8.1

Pros: 1. Excellent build quality. The aluminum unibody was perfectly engineered and manufactured.
2. Excellent thermal dissipation. The palmrest and keyboard does not heat up with heavy gaming.
3. Low noise fans even during heavy gaming. Does not sound like a vacuum cleaner or juice blender like other gaming laptops.
4. Extremely compact and slim. Fits in the smallest of spaces when you are traveling.
5. Extremely light weight considering the power under the hood.
6. Lighted keyboard, high precision trackpad.
7. Powerful GPU. Best in class for this form factor.
8. Long battery life (I get over 6 hrs web surfing via wifi).
9. Fast, upgradable storage. There is an empty mSATA slot for a second SSD should you need one. Basically you can install up to 2 GB internal SSD storage (1 GB + 1GB) in this machine if you need it in the future.
10. The screen has an extremely fast response time (2 ms green to green) which reduces ghosting and thus the best choice for gaming.

Cons: 1. The TN screen quality is really average and certainly not below average. Specifically, in terms of the contrast ratio, the blacks are slightly greyish, just like most consumer laptops. The viewing angles are perfectly fine for a single user and no different from the vast majority of consumer laptops.
2. Non-upgradable 8 GB RAM. Only a minority of gamers would benefit from more than 8 GB of RAM.
3. Only 3 USB slots. I would have preferred 4 but a USB hub is an easy work-around.
4. No optical drive. Few people use optical drives anymore and a USB optical drive is an easy workaround. The benefits of having a lighter compact machine outweighs the benefits of an integrated optical drive that I will only use 1% of the time.
5. The battery is not easily removable. You cannot have a spare battery.

5 out of 5 eggsInsanely Powerful, Impossibly Thin

This review is from: Razer Blade RZ09-01021101-R3U1 Gaming Notebook Intel Core i7 4702HQ (2.20GHz) 8GB Memory 256GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 765M 2GB GDDR5 14.0" Windows 8.1

Pros: i7 4702 Quad Core Processor is Very Fast
8gb 1600mhz ram Performs Wonderfully
Nvidia GTX 765m is Powerful and Graphics are Amazing
256gb mSata SSD Offers High Performance Storage
Killer WiFi Card Provides Fast and Stable Connections

Build Quality:
This is where the Razer Blade really shines. The build quality is phenomenal. Everything is seamlessly designed. The all aluminum body is excellently crafted with a sleek matte black finish. The keyboard and trackpad are the best I have seen on any laptop.

Display:
The display on the Razer Blade has seemed to receive quite a bit of criticism. I think it is great. A 1600x900 resolution is perfect for a 14" display and provides higher performance/fps while gaming. The colors are bright and vivid. I have noticed no ghosting at all on this display!

Everything about this laptop is a pro!

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: This is by far the best laptop I have ever owned, used, seen. The build quality is something one can really appreciate it. It packs all of the performance I need in an amazingly small form factor. The keyboard and trackpad are the best I have seen on a laptop. High quality and very responsive. This laptop is as good as it gets, and is what you can expect from Razer.
