5 out of 5 eggsPretty Impressed

Pros: Solid purchase for the price, performance is much faster than anticipated, got it to boot a game cube emulator, so graphics aren't all bad. Installed windows 7, never knew how useful some of that touch screen features are, really convenient for simple Web browsing. Cinema 4 runs okay on there, cine bench was a pretty accurate guess at performance.

Cons: The drivers disk contained all the drivers, all the folders named in Spanish.... I had to use my phone to Google translate all the folder names. just kinda awful. honestly, you are better off just going to HP's website and downloading the drivers yourself.

3 out of 5 eggsI bought one, my first W 8.1

Pros: For $320 to $325, I got a de-branded HP with limited warranty, but I knew mostly what I was getting. I like the 2.5 GHz Intel Core i3. The bottom of the laptop is not too hot. There is little noise. It is a nice quiet laptop. Arrived in great shape, no dings, no scratches, no dead pixels. I wear bi-focals, so it is really neat to be in IE browser on a web page and "smart-phone" like use my two fingers on the W 8.1 HP touch screen to enlarge the displayed font, magically versus a non-touchscreen laptop.

Cons: You have to spend another $90 or so on Windows 8.1 64 Bit Version, so this laptop with MS Touch OS runs about $410 to $415.
I like Lenovo & older IBM Thinkpad keyboards. I like Lenovo mouse area better than this HP mouse area, because the HP pushes the KB farther away than is best, in my opinion. My fingers need to reach deeper on the HP KB, which I do not like. Yes, I agree the HP KB and keys have a cheaper feel, etc., but so do some of the lowest cost Lenovo la[tops coming out.

Other Thoughts: My goal was to spend the smallest money for a W 8.1 enabled Touch Screen laptop. For $420 roughly, I could have had a Windows 8.1 Touch laptop. I bought $165 Windows 8.1 Professional Full Retail Box, with both 32 bit and 64 bit disks, instead of cheaper 64 Bit OEM W 8.1 for $90. This is a 64 Bit Intel Core i3, so the Full Retail with dual 32 bit & 64 Bit OS dual disks is not necessary (32 bit OS disk should not be used). I bought dual disks Full Retail, because these disks and MS Product Key might be reused by me on a different laptop someday if I take the MS W 8.1 OS off this one, and de-OS it to Linux or something, etc. MS OS OEM W8.1 can only be used once, and never again on any different laptop. So I spent a little more, but I can take $165 MS 8.1 OS elsewhere, at my choosing.

2 out of 5 eggsimplications of "debranded"

Pros: decent value for a touch-enabled i3 laptop, started life as HP product, seems to have been a de-inventoried product, essentially brand-new, as opposed to something that was deployed and recovered, like end-of-lease items

Cons: limited BIOS features (BIOS is by 'Insyde', I've never heard of them before), battery life is unremarkable, tiny lettering on the dual-mode function-keys is very hard to read, shiny black surround to 'island' style keys makes settling on the home row an occasional challenge.

Those are just nits though, real cons are no BT, "debranding" means that product support is non-existent, opaque warranty policy is unlike other refurb/de-brand products I've purchased from Newegg

Other Thoughts: I should have been suspicious when the "Support Website" link on the product page was a space-character. Instead I figured it was a typo and relied on my other (satisfactory) purchase experiences. I shouldn't have done that. While item is covered by a 30-day "newegg replaces it" policy, after that, you have to contact newegg as a proxy for any warranty issues. even my CS-chat rep didn't have any contact info for the refurbisher, which makes me fearful that the balance of the 90-day P/L warranty amounts to Newegg juse sending you a replacement. If my problem is with the overall product and not a specific "such-and-such is busted" issue then there's no way to resolve that problem, since just replacing the unit with an identical one doesn't fix the problem.

I know this is kind of an obscure detail, but it's one that's not evident from the product page and unlike any of my other newegg purchases. if support (as opposed to repair) isn't an issue this is probably a great value. However, no support means I can't use this as planned and now have another "live and learn" item on my workbench for puttering.

3 out of 5 eggsnot bad

Pros: fairly inexpensive for a 15" laptop with an i3 processor (has hyperthreading); better performance than similarly priced laptops with Pentium or Celeron processors; appears new with zero dead pixel; install your own OS, without any bloatware

Cons: not very solid feeling (the back of the LCD lid flexes); the HDD is not accessible through the service door--you have to remove the keyboard and upper cover to get to the HDD; I know it's debranded and the "generic" decal over the hp logo on the back is removable, but hp actually buffed out the hp logo under the sticker so it's ugly with or without the tacky (no pun intended) "global" sticker

1 out of 5 eggsDeceived

Pros: Fast shipping

Cons: When ordered, I was sure the computer came with Windows 7 and was not 'debranded'. I was greatly disappointed to open the box and find the computer to have no OS. Low and behold, the fine print now becomes more apparent. My first and Last NeweggFlash purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product at a great price!

Pros: For the price paid, you get the full package! The first impression I had when I opened the box was "Wow! This is big!" in a good way! The display doesn't have any dead pixels, and looks great... not to mention that it's a touchscreen! Audio quality is also great! I'm also satisfied with the keyboard that works very well and also includes a keypad.

Cons: A bit heavy, but at this screen size and hardware it's to be expected.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you either have an OS ready for installation! I prefer my PCs without OS, as I prefer to install my own choice of operating systems.

2 out of 5 eggsBad display

Pros: Brand new machine. Cannot believe it was not inspected before tagged to ship to vendor.

Cons: Defective display. Has to be returned for replacement. Not all drivers are supplied on the drivers disk included with item. These were bought by the hundreds from HP as an overrun.
