1 out of 5 eggsWaste of money.

This review is from: DEEPCOOL M6 Laptop Cooling Pad 17" with 2.1 Speaker System 140mm Fan 4 USB Ports

Pros: The only pros from the unit I received are the design and potential. It comes with several usb slots, boosts your sound, and elevates your laptop to a comfortable position while keeping it cool.

Cons: None of it works. When I first got the fan, everything worked fine except a couple of the usb slots in the back. I didn't figure I needed all of them so I didn't bother to return it for a different one. However, not long after it became very finicky and less usb slots worked. I honestly stopped using it for a while because it got annoying. (and to be clear, it never left the house and was taken very well care of) At this point, I have had it for about 8 months and it is in the garbage. Not a single part of it works, not even the fan.

Other Thoughts: Good idea, but not worth the money. I would expect this from a cheap gimmicky clearance item.
To be honest, I never do reviews, but I was particularly disappointed, and wanted to keep others from wasting their money.

3 out of 5 eggsQuiet Fan, Speaker not so good

This review is from: DEEPCOOL M6 Laptop Cooling Pad 17" with 2.1 Speaker System 140mm Fan 4 USB Ports

Pros: Quiet Fan, actually cools my computer down a bit.
Convenient extra USB ports for my laptop.
Speakers are louder than my laptop which is good because I couldn't hear my laptop clear most of the time.

Cons: Speakers are muffled too much in the box in which the sound quality is distorted. Imagine putting your speaker in a box and listen to it; it sounds just like that.
It's to the point that voices are not clear and a little bit hard to listen.
For a $60 cooler/speaker I think it should have a better design.

Other Thoughts: It's a great idea to put cooler and speaker together. However, due to laptop sitting on top of it, speakers should be arranged to the side instead of sitting right below the laptop. The design directs the sound to the side instead of placing the speakers right to the side.
Sub-woofer can remain in the middle due to the nature of it.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsFunctional AND Stylish

This review is from: DEEPCOOL M6 Laptop Cooling Pad 17" with 2.1 Speaker System 140mm Fan 4 USB Ports

Pros: *Sylish - Sports car styling looks very nice
*Cools good - IF your laptop intake vents are near or above the fan
*Produces decent sound
*Variable speed & On/Off switch in back of unit
*Can be powered with micro USB cell phone cable & charger
*Metal grill combined with sturdy plastic top - good for heat dissipation and laptop's rubber feet grip the plastic top well

Cons: *included audio cable sticks out too far - should be L-shaped
*fan produces a slight buzzing sound
*Non-adjustable fixed position fan may be too small and may not be directly underneath laptop intake vents
*May be a bit heavy and non portable for some users

Other Thoughts: First off, I need a laptop cooler with a solid base because of my narrow desktop ledge, so this seems to fit the bill. Secondly, I'm not a gamer, but I needed a decent cooling option for my 17" HP Pavilion 17z laptop which is for school only. This cooler is made more for 15" laptops, and my 17" hangs over the top ledges slightly, but this is adequate. The fan is a little on the small side, and a 180mm (18cm) fan would be better since it is in a fixed, center position. Fortunately, the cooling fan reaches the edges of the bottom air intake vents of my laptop, so it provides adequate cooling. I would say that this cooler reduced my temperatures between five and 10 degrees, which is great for a laptop. With this cooler, the top of the laptop is cool to the touch. Love the styling, although I did think that the side grills would light up, but they don't, but that's fine. This cooling pad produces decent sound, and anyone expecting super bass with this setup is expecting a little too much. It produces good sound when watching movies, but not so much with music. Unlike other reviewers, my laptop doesn't slide down the front at all.

You should check where the air intake vents are on your laptop before buying this because the smallish fan may not reach them.

Overall, a good product so far, but I've only owned it a week. We will see as the months go by.

5 out of 5 eggsA Good Solid Build

This review is from: DEEPCOOL M6 Laptop Cooling Pad 17" with 2.1 Speaker System 140mm Fan 4 USB Ports

Pros: The metal grid over the fan supports your laptop well and gives a good solid feel to the cooler. The fan (in the unit I received) is super quiet and the variable speed is a great feature. The integrated speakers are a nice touch.

Cons: I really cannot find anything truly negative about this cooler, I would recommend this for anyone needing a little boost in their laptops cooling abilities. The integrated speakers are a nice touch for many older laptops that have not so good speakers... however the speakers that are in this cooler are still not top notch either, depending on the laptop it may or may not have better speakers.

Other Thoughts: Much larger than I expected... but sits very comfortably on your lap. The metal grid over the fan supports your laptop well and gives a good solid feel to the cooler. The fan is super quiet and the variable speed is a great feature as often times a massive amount of air is not needed for proper cooling, but simply a flow to move warm are away from the machine. Although the metal mesh adds a degree of firmness it does not prevent a smaller laptop or netbook from sliding down the cooler when inclined a bit more than it might be if it were placed on a table or other hard horizontal surface. On a side note, it would be nice to see a replaceable fan... yeah I know, then they wouldn't be able to sell as many coolers... but from a guy that loves to fix the broken things it would be a plus.

5 out of 5 eggsCOOL!!

This review is from: DEEPCOOL M6 Laptop Cooling Pad 17" with 2.1 Speaker System 140mm Fan 4 USB Ports

Pros: This cooling pad is very sturdy and well made, and keeps my laptop running cool enough that it hardly ever needs the internal fan. This pad looks awesome and functions great. Comes with built in speakers and USB hub both of which work flawlessly for me. The speakers sound pretty good for built in and are a considerable step-up from the factory laptop speakers. The fan speed is adjustable and works quite well while remaining somewhat silent. Holds a laptop slightly larger than advertised with minimal issues. This pad works perfect for using a laptop on a table or desk environment.

Cons: This cooler is a bit bulky and might not be the best option for sitting on your lap. Audio quality is a bit lacking. Fan makes some noise and resembles all my old Xbox 360's at idle. Not quite big enough for a 17.3" laptop although this is clearly listed in the description. Needs some added rubber grips to be able to make any laptop sit without sliding at all, but it still works quite well.

Other Thoughts: I really like this cooling pad. I very rarely use my laptop on my lap and almost always sit a the table with it so for my environment this pad is perfect. The boost to audio volume is very welcome and although it might lack some sound quality it's way better than any laptop I've ever owned. I like that it keeps the computer running cool enough that it hardly ever needs to use it's own fan which saves it from burning up. I also love the added USB ports on it which make the laptop much easier to use to charge or connect USB devices, and it saves from excess use of the built in ports on the computer making the system last longer.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat For What It is

This review is from: DEEPCOOL M6 Laptop Cooling Pad 17" with 2.1 Speaker System 140mm Fan 4 USB Ports

Pros: 1. Decent quality for the price. The entire top grill is made of metal which effectively dissipates heat. Rest is made of sturdy plastic.

2. Has an inbuilt 4 port USB hub. I've tried running a wireless mouse, a keyboard, a printer and a pendrive simultaneously from a single USB 2.0 port and everything works like a charm without any loss of speed.

3. Cooling fan is dead silent.

4. If you don't want to use your laptop's USB port to power this device, you can use the micro USB DC input to power the speaker and the fan separately. Although the DC adapter is not provided, any smart phone charger with micro USB output will work fine

Cons: 1. The sub-woofer and speaker may look attractive but the quality of the sound output is not very good. Sounds which are rich in Bass, sound below standard. It only adds volume over your laptop speakers, nothing else.

2. The cooling fan is a single 140mm fan. Though it is sufficient for ultrabook or small laptops, it will not effectively cool gaming / high performance laptops which produces much more heat.

Other Thoughts: The Deepcool M6 Audio Cooling Pad is a very nicely designed laptop cooler. It has Stunning Design of "Lamborghini Super Car" and equipped with 2.1 Stereo Speakers. The Fan is Quiet & BIG so that Air flow will be Good and silent for average laptops but I found it to be only adequate for a high end gaming laptop which normally produce a lot more heat. The subwoofer looks great but looks can be deceiving as it fails to deliver the sound to match its looks. All in all this is a great laptop cooling pad for the mid range laptops and while it can be used for high end gaming laptops as well it will leave something to be desired.

4 out of 5 eggsHuge Laptop Cooler

This review is from: DEEPCOOL M6 Laptop Cooling Pad 17" with 2.1 Speaker System 140mm Fan 4 USB Ports

Pros: The Deepcool M6 has a nice large cooling deck that does a remarkable job at keeping those lap burners cool while watching movies or while laptop gaming. The speaker system produces solid sound quality and quantity; enough for a smaller dinner party, dorm room tunes or watching a movie. The USB hub functionality is very nice to have- especially for some of the smaller form factor laptops that only have 1-2 USB ports. Power to the unit is either through the 5V of the USB or through a stand alone micro-USB charger style connector. The construction is sturdy and the functionality of all the connectors was consistent through out my testing period. The huge 140mm fan is silent... SILENT. Even at the low RPMs its running the airflow is quite sufficient.

Cons: The only problem I had with the Deepcool was the slope of the deck. My ASUS Zen kept sliding down the surface. I also found it to be a touch unwieldy at times, it was absolutely not something that I would want to be traveling with. The USB port location is rather poor in my mind as the usage for these ports is largely going to be peripherals and drives that you will be plugging and unplugging regularly.

Other Thoughts: The styling is definitely on the extreme gamer realm- which is subjectively scored. Those interesting in laptop gaming probably have a 17" notebook. This will work just fine with the larger form factor notebooks and keep them cool no matter how stressful or lengthy your gaming session is.

I use the Deepcool at work to keep my laptop cool as well as supplement the limited USB ports. The deck height is just right and the added benefit of the USB hub provides a perfect mobile office user setting.

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad if it is what you need

This review is from: DEEPCOOL M6 Laptop Cooling Pad 17" with 2.1 Speaker System 140mm Fan 4 USB Ports

Pros: Solid construction, I didn’t feel like it would break easily like some other models.
Fan generates a lot of air and does a decent job of cooling off a gaming laptop.
Good number of USB ports
Speakers are okay, but nothing special.
Has a clean look and adds a number of things without being messy.
Fan makes very little noise and is easy to adjust speed
It looks good, I liked the design.

Cons: Bulky and there is no way to adjust the angle of it, you either love it or hate it.
Does not work well on your lap, you really must have a desk for this.
All the ports are on the back instead of the sides. There was a time where all the ports on any laptop were on the back, but they finally realized the sides were a much better place and this device would benefit from the same thinking.
I felt it really added a lot of weight for trying to use in a chair and have the laptop in my lap. It was extra difficult because you can't adjust the angle.

Other Thoughts: I think the intended purpose of this device is for the gamer who has one of the crazy hot laptops. It does cool the laptop off, it provides speakers and a number of inputs all in one device. I think it is worth the price for someone who really needs it, but your average person might be served better by something lighter and more adjustable.

I didn’t feel like I really needed the speakers and I would prefer this to be more lap friendly so I can keep using a laptop as it was meant to be used and not just a portable desktop.

I think this device fits a very specific need, it just wasn't my needs. In the end it does what it says it does which is cool a laptop and provide speakers along with a USB hub.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent at Cooling a Laptop

This review is from: DEEPCOOL M6 Laptop Cooling Pad 17" with 2.1 Speaker System 140mm Fan 4 USB Ports

Pros: A decently quiet 140mm fan that was very effective at reducing the temp of my laptop. The fan has an adjustable speed and the speed determines the noise level.
Laptop didn't slowdown when being cooled by the product, which ALWAYS overheats and slows down a lot.
Able to listen to my ipod from the audio jack.
Cool looking design, but that maybe because I am a guy and like the race car looks of the product.
Nice touch to be able to charge my Samsung phone with the MicroUSB connector.
You can run up the sound loud enough to hear it over screaming kids, but it does tend to vibrate and sound 'tinny'.
Can handle a 17" Laptop with ease.

Cons: Kind of large and makes using my laptop at the table impossible due to the thickness.
Tends to attract dirt and hair very easy due to the fan.
Takes up a lot of space when not in use.
Kind of a thin and tinny sound with base heavy music.
Used to USB being on the side, but the back did work but not ideal.

Other Thoughts: Lenovo Laptop with a SSD drive. Intel i5 core. Windows 7.
Running video games at max settings to drive heat, which the fan was able to handle on full.
Ran Lotus, Word, explorer at the same time and had no issues with cooling.
Played mainly hard rock music, which it did good with but heavy base music sounded kind of thin on base.

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad.... Not bad...

This review is from: DEEPCOOL M6 Laptop Cooling Pad 17" with 2.1 Speaker System 140mm Fan 4 USB Ports

Pros: - Lightweight
- Multiple USB ports
- Built in speakers
- Pull fan configuration

Cons: - 2.1 Speakers (Wish they were 5.1)
- Requires it's own DC power (no USB power)
- Was using an air duster to clean it out and it blew off one of the aesthetic internal grates. I tried to pull it out but I've had no luck. Poor construction or bad luck? Not sure.

Other Thoughts: - Dropped my temps by about 10c under full load on my gaming laptop, which is pretty significant.
- I expected the CFM to be a bit higher, but we can't have it all.

I would recommend this product to anyone with a laptop that gets way too hot.
It should definitely help extend the life of the hardware by a few months if not years.
