Pros: The airflow channels work very well, there is a noticeable amount of air flow from them.

Cons: The fans are POOR quality, I've had this just over 6 months, the fans are failing, they make a noticeable noise and have made me turn them to the "LOW" setting only and even on that setting they make noise.

Other Thoughts: Wouldn't recommend this to anyone unless you don't mind shelling out the money for a new one within 6 months. Maybe I was unlucky with mine, but I'm not going to shell out the money for another one.

Pros: For the past three months, this cooler has been a great companion to a laptop that runs uncomfortably hot. (Normally, the bottom of the laptop reaches into the mid-90s, but the cooler keeps it down at ~85 at high load.)

The foldable feet on the base also make lap use a viable option, though I'd imagine it's less effective at cooling while using it on your lap (haven't probed after lap use).

It's also really nice to have the extra USB (2.0) ports, since you lose one when you connect the cooler to your laptop.

Cons: The aluminum construction is nice, but it does make for a pretty heavy accessory. It's also a little difficult to fit into many laptop bags because the corners are squared rather than rounded.

Other Thoughts: Overall, this has been a fantastic purchase. I would highly recommend it to anyone with a laptop <15" wide for desk use. (Maybe even a larger laptop, if it has a rubberized bottom or the feet are less than 15" apart.)

Cons: almost seems cheaply made, does not have anything to stop the laptop from sliding

Other Thoughts: I got this to help cool down my 15.6" Toshiba laptop and it works well if it is on a flat surface even though i have to keep moving my laptop back to the center of the fans. the four fans are quite nice for any kind of laptop because you can have them cooling all parts of the laptop at the same time while not having to guess if you have a single one anywhere close to the cooling vent. Although the title says that it is a 17" cooler it is more suited to a 15.6" laptop since mine is almost too big for it and it is 15.6" but other than that it is nice to have help cooling it down when i use it heavily.

Pros: Initially quite effective. Begins to fall off early however.

Cons: Cooling feel stopped after month of usage.
Fans break down one by one.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy this. Period.

Pros: Keeps my already well designed and cooled MSI GT-72 3°c cooler on normal use. that's not to say if I turn off my boost fans this thing wouldn't keep it cool. I believe this cooler would. I also play Far Cry 4 with this cooler and it definitely helps.

Cons: Plastic legs......

Cons: No real cons, but several nit picks with it.
First is the plug for the usb is on the exact opposite side as my laptops, cooler is on lower left, laptop is on upper right. Since the bottom of this is completly flat and level, I just rotated it, so now both are at the upper right. If you were using this on a desk or table and were using the flip up legs, you could not do this, but you could probably run the USB cable under the cooler and it would reach.

I kind of wish I had better control of fans. I really need just 2 fans on, upper left for airflow to the CPU intake, and lower right blowing on the RAM and SSD which gets real hot (no idea on how hot, no temp sensor there). If it had a bush button for each fan it would be nicer, but not an egg off just for that.

It is also a bit thick, but being a active cooling unit, that is needed to fit the fans.

Other Thoughts: Testing this on my old Gateway laptop with a core 2 duo.
I actually use this laptop on my lap when sitting in my recliner all the time (typing this on it now).
Prior to using this, idle temps were around 50° C, normal use temps were high 50's into the low 60's, and would max out at 70°C when the built in thermal limit of the motherboard control would slow the processor to prevent overheating.
Using just the cooling pad with no fans on, idle temps were the same, load temps were about 1-2° cooler, max temp still 70°. I think the regular use temps were lower because the laptop fan had better airflow being off my lap. I do know my lap itself was cooler and more comfortable.
When I turn the fans on (either just 2 or all 4), idle temp drops to 44°C, a good 5°+ cooler, normal use temps also saw the same drop. Full load temps dropped 3° C, but my cpu was no longer being throttled, so a huge plus there.

I think this would be great for hot running laptops used as a desktop replacement. For use as an actual "laptop", it is a bit big, but still useable. Not really something to carry around in a laptop bag IMO.
I will use it especially in the summer, not sure how much I will use the actual fan part, but nice to have if needed.

Pros: Using for my HP dv6000-series laptop. HP laptops run a bit hot, and I do a lot of video & photo processing, pushing my internal fan to the max. I was overheating my memory & CPU.

This cooler does the trick. I'm able to keep my laptop noticeably cooler. The aluminum acts like a heatsink and circulates air underneath the laptop. The four large fans cover most of the bottom of my system and really moves the air around. There isn't a huge increase in noise from the fans running, either.

Cons: None that I've seen. (Or heard - my last cooler's fans started growling after a month!)

Pros: -Extremely Quiet
-Multiple Fans
-Cooling is evenly dispersed

Cons: -A bit weaker than I expected
-Thicker than many cooling pads

Other Thoughts: I bought this in hopes that it would keep my laptop cool after applying thermal paste. It does definitely make some difference, but it just doesn't have the amount of power I need. I still hear my laptop kick into overdrive, and I still see it get dangerously close to it shutting down.

To be fair, it actually is keeping it from shutting off which is nice. I guess I'm expecting too much.

Pros: The four fans seemed like a good idea because the typical pad does not have a fan on all the areas my laptop needs them.

Cons: It just does not keep my laptop cool enough and it still overheats when I'm gaming.

All four of the fans seem very weak.

Other Thoughts: Based on the other reviews being so positive I have to wonder if mine is broken or something.
