Pros: The first one I ordered had a faulty cord from the start, but I assumed it was a loose connection. I asked for an RMA and was granted one. Thanks Newegg. I,ve waited a month to see how the new one performed before I wrote this review. The most important question for this product: Does it cool my Laptop. Yes, it does. The fan could be a little stronger, but it does the job. I have an ASUS laptop, just for watching 1080p videos. It used to get very hot. Now, it rarely get warm. If I had a gaming laptop, I'm not sure the fan would be fast enough to do the job, but don't take my word for it, It has very good construction. The top is made of Aluminum and the hinge and base of plastic. Also, the piece that supports the top is also made of metal and locks in place when laid flat for easy transportation and storage. Overall, I like this product; however, due to the faulty power cord on the first one and the fan speed, which I feel could be faster, I gave this four eggs, only.

Cons: The fan could be stronger and the plastic base should have a smooth bottom for easier handling.

The fan does not seem to be as powerful on the second one as the one on the first one I received, but that could just be subjective.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this to anyone that does not need it for a gaming laptop.

Other Thoughts: There are not really 4 USB ports, one is for power, so a net gain of 2 ports.

Pros: Solid aluminum top panel acts like a giant heatsink for uniform cooling.
Channels allow air to flow freely, even when the fan is off.
Large fan moves a significant amount of air; the panel is ice cold after a minute at full speed.
Has a built in USB hub.
Is one of the few coolers on the market that is a cooler and a stand, but is still a single unit.
Quiet, even at full speed, compared to my laptop's fan.

Cons: These are minor issues that have fixes in Other Thoughts.
Micro B connector is surface mounted (only way to solder this connector style); one good whack with the wrong type of cable attached and it becomes loose.
Panel is actually 15" inches wide, probably because the panel is 17" or so diagonally, to accommodate a laptop using the same size standard (the standard for monitors must not be the same for laptops.

Other Thoughts: The main issue people complain about is that the panel is smaller than a true 17" laptop, but if one can live with <1" overhang on each side (small enough for the laptop's feet to rest on the panel), then this cooler is just fine.
An issue that I had is that the connector on the circuit board was no longer fully connected. I contacted DEEPCOOL about this, asking for only a replacement board, and they sent me a whole new pad (talk about serious customer satisfaction). The lesson I learned is that the pad should be used with an ANGLED USB cable. When used with a cable that is angled on both ends, the pad and laptop are relatively immune to the bumps that, with a straight cable, would break a connector on the pad or the laptop (both happened to me).
My recommendation to DEEPCOOL: Supply a meter-long dual angled cable instead of a straight one. Even if the cable has to wind around the connector to reach a port correctly, the cable will still be more robust than a straight cable.

goes from 0 degrees to 12 to 24. Really needs an 18.

Other Thoughts: This is an awesome setup especially if you intend to use a keyboard. a lot of height. the metal frame gets cold from the silent on max power fan. significant drop in temps on already cool and well thermally put together Sager 9778. like 10-20 degrees c. from 50-70c to 40-60c with this.

This seemed to be the best option at the time and I would recommend.

Pros: My Intel Core i5 560M readings are now averaging 10°-15° COOLER!
The fan is QUIET.
Solid and sturdy stand with good airflow, love the adjustable angles to raise my nb screen to eye level.

Even the little tabs that slide into the front grooved channel to keep nb from sliding off stand are sturdy, they appear to be made of metal covered with rubber sleeves. Nice NOT to have flimsy plastic tabs there. I cannot imagine these tabs breaking.

Cons: Manufacturer's quality control leaves something to be desired in the soldering of wire leads to fan contacts department... My N9's FAN arrived DOA.

Other Thoughts: NewEgg as always was great... Fast delivery and good customer service... They offered to exchange my DOA cooling unit at their cost with a prepaid shipping label. But hoping to avoid the hassle and time lag between returning DOA unit and waiting for a new one to arrive, I was able to repair the non-functional fan myself instead...

Happily the cooling unit's housing can be taken apart by removing a few (8?) phillips head screws. And just another 3 screws to remove the fan from the base. The 2 lead wires that SHOULD have been connected to two contacts on the fan housing, weren't!!! Yup, that would account for why my nb recognized the new USB ports just fine but the fan wouldn't turn on.

The fan is plastic, no way I was going near that plastic with a soldering iron. So what was the fix? A gummy putty-like little glob mixture of Electrical Tape and Gorilla Tape pressed down onto the two wire leads connecting them to the two contacts and Viola! Working fan.

In an otherwise quality and sturdily constructed cooling unit/stand, I fail to understand how the manufacturer could skimp on ensuring the most critical part -- the cooling fan -- would be functional. Shame on DeepCool for their poor soldering of such a crucial component!

But Kudos to DeepCool for a unit that works great after getting it to work!

I only wish the cooling pad was an extra 1" deeper length. My beast of a Dell workstation's (17" screen, 15.4"W x 11"D) rear rubber feet hang off the back of the cooling pad by a hair. The reason it hangs off the rear is because the channel that the two front holding tabs slide into is set back from the front by about 3/4". Also having the aluminum extrusion channels going all the way to the rear of the cooling unit would be nice.

But to conclude, this cooling pad has truly breathed new life into my nb workstation. The amazing drop in CPU temps has improved overall system performance significantly. Now, instead of averaging a 50%-100% CPU load requiring frequent reboots, I'm averaging a 15%-25% CPU load instead -- with nothing else changed nor programs closed. A cooler CPU is a more efficient smoother faster better performing CPU. A cooling pad isn't just about keeping your cpu from frying ;-)

Cons: The only real con is that my boss's laptop is slightly too big for the cooler. He has a very large workstation replacement laptop. He can us the cooler but it would be better if it had a few extra inches. That being said, I have seen too many laptops big enough for this to be an issue.

Cons: Does not cool very effectively. Fan is weak at max speed. Too small platform for 17" laptop

Pros: Does what it says it should. Has extra USB2 slots in the back, a fan controller but this thing is pretty much silent anyways on high! atleast i cant hear it over my laptops fans.

Cons: Fan is under powered in my opinion but im sure its cause of my Laptop being a gaming laptop and just getting to hot.

Other Thoughts: If my laptops Heat sinks could connect directly to the aluminum on this thing it would be GREAT. I just have a HOT laptop. Idle is about 40C
