If you've had it for a while dust accumulates, bring the cooling efficiency WAY down. That difference one it's own can be quite remarkable if you've not performed this simple step before). The design, while looking like an autobot pre-transformed oO is exceedingly well made, structurally strong & fits my 17" laptop perfectly. The fan is quiet given it's size etc, and the mounting design is one of those 'duh' items - very small magnets in each corner of the fan allows a user to place it anywhere on the mesh underside. So brilliant, such simple, much happy. USB powered, has USB usable USB connection on the connector so we don't lose a slot. Oh right. How well does it work :P I haven't taken actual before/after temperature readings but my laptop fan, even when crunching something like it is right now, has never been required to hit high gear. Which is the whole point, reckon. Typing sits at a comfortable angle, for me at least. Nice unit. Cons: Not a con per se, just as stated in another review there's no 'proper' off switch. I just pull the USB cord if I want to shut it off. Plug it back in when I want it running. Easy enough. Other Thoughts: If you stare at the spinning fan for a while when it's lit up with colors you may find yourself still sitting like this O_O later on... I would recommend. Cons: 1. Fan mounting magnets were installed upside down. I had to re-orient them to push air to the laptop CPU & vent area in order to get max cooling benefit. 2. The attached switch allows for changing the LED lighting, but does not have a positive Fan On-Off power switch. This resulted in the fan being always on, even after I powered-down my laptop (laptop was plugged in to wall socket & "vampired power" even when turned off). 3 out of 3 people found this review helpful.
