5 out of 5 eggsVery efficient cooler for excellent price

Pros: This is a very effective cooler for laptops that shut down for no reason, or have heat problems from non-working fans or cramped environments with little ventilation.

Includes a USB hub.

Extremely quiet, sometimes I forget that it's there.

Cons: None that I can think of.

Other Thoughts: Our laptop shut down in three-hour-or-so intervals, because of a bad internal fan. So, I could have ordered a replacement fan, but you don't even know if it's the fan or the fan plug on the motherboard that's screwy until you open up the laptop (which is never an easy ordeal, and would void warranties if you have one).

For roughly the same price, we got this fan that also has an excellent USB Hub included (which is almost necessary considering the small number of USB ports generally included on laptops, with the power for the cooler taking one of those ports).

Lappy has been running fine for over three weeks with no shutdowns. I would definitely recommend this over opening your laptop.

5 out of 5 eggsIt was free!

Pros: I would never need this thing with my laptop. I gave it to someone who had an older laptop and was having over heating issues. I never heard from them again so either it works or they dont care about the $20 they gave me for it. Either way it was free to me from Newegg so free stuff has to get 5 stars from me no matter what! I dont know if it works well or not but i know i got a $20 bill for it!

Cons: cant complain about free stuff no matter what!

3 out of 5 eggsGood, but not for rear-vented laptops

Pros: For the money, it's a bargain. Work's as advertised.

Cons: The airflow is decidedly weak. Design makes it hard to position on rear-vented laptops.

Other Thoughts: Still a good deal at $8, no regrets, even though I don't use it. I'll pass it off to a friend.

2 out of 5 eggsOnly 1 fan worked

Pros: None except the design but it would also need to work for it to be a pro.

Cons: Only 1 fan worked sent it back.

5 out of 5 eggsQuiet, Cool, Durable

Pros: Using this for an HP TX2500 laptop whose fan has pretty much completely died. Rubberized shell allows for propping laptops on top of the unit without slipping. This cooler has held up through near-constant since I got it two months ago, only stopping for power outages and laptop restarts.

Cons: Rubberized shell becomes a dust magnet since the fans pull air towards the unit along with all the dust floating about, and cleaning dust off rubber is a pain.

Other Thoughts: This could arguably belong in the Cons section, but it's just something to know before purchasing: This cooler isn't one you set under your laptop and vents push upward. The vents pull from the top and blow out the side, so the proper usage would be to put the cooler forward of the laptop on a desk, which likely eliminates using this cooler while using your laptop on your lap. Another option, which I'm doing, is to prop the laptop up on an angle so that the breeze can cool more of the bottom of the laptop. My laptop sits around a nice 10-degree angle that makes typing more pleasurable.

The blue LED and fan control on the back are nice touches but they're mostly useless. There's a slightly noticeable difference between the minimum and maximum settings, but the best purpose for the control is to just turn off the fan if you don't need it at a particular time.

5 out of 5 eggsWorth it

Pros: - Extremely easy install
- Lightweight (But not flimsy or cheap feeling)
- Looks good
- Quiet
- Adds 3 USB Ports
- Fits my laptop (17.3")
- Price (Got this for $6.99, totally worth it)

Cons: - Laptop does not always stay on the cooler securely, and sometimes slips off. Not a big issue overall, just annoying to put it back up.

- Not very "Portable", as a desk is needed. But it's not an issue for me, as I don't plan on taking my cooler with me everywhere I go.

Other Thoughts: Easy and fast install, only took me a few minutes.

However, my idle temps for my 17.3" Dell Inspiron 7720 were around 45*C idle for the GPU, and 48*C for the CPU. For gaming, the temps got up to around 70*C for the GPU, and around 65*C for the CPU .

With the cooler installed, the idle temps are around 35*C for the GPU, and 40*C for the CPU. It's definitely made an effect, and the average temps while gaming are around 62*C for the GPU, and 58*C for the CPU.

For $6.99, I feel like it was totally worth it. Of course, it's not anything expensive, but you probably don't want to spend $60 or more for a laptop cooler. All I wanted was something to help get a few degrees off my laptop, and this accomplished that.

1 out of 5 eggsnot for my laptop

Pros: It is very quiet. If you have cooling vents on the hinge side of your laptop it will work as designed. My vents are under the case.

Cons: It's built so that I have to balance the laptop on something 1/3 the size of the laptop. It cools very well after you set the laptop on something at the other end or side. At first I felt like an idiot having to carry a scrap of wood to help stabilize the computer.

Other Thoughts: I got it on sale so it wasn't a huge cost. People get a laugh out of my hi-tec solution of using scrap wood.

2 out of 5 eggsNot that good

Pros: Quiet and speed /flow rate changeable.

Cons: Only works with auxiliary power or from a laptop.. Fans vibrate but don't move with a powered hub or PC USB input. Awkward to use for a laptop.
Not my best purchase.

Other Thoughts: Took power lead from old USB hub to make it work. Ended up running it under my SONY Home Theater as a cooling fan...

2 out of 5 eggsVery Small and Bad Cord Included

Pros: quiet fans.

Cons: this thing is REALLY small. my fault for not reading dimensions. It certainly isn't very adequate for larger laptops like it claims (mine is 17'). For a larger laptop like mine where the hottest part is near the front (left), I have to put this fan near the front and support the back with some heavy tome. not so good for travelling, methinks.
worse, though, is that I just plugged in the USB cord and right away noticed it is small and loose in any USB jack. so loose that the thing constantly connects/disconnects, triggering that sound in wiondows to nitify of USB devices being (un)attached. This is all within 30 seconds of plugging it in.

Other Thoughts: Well, I am too poor and busy to spend money returning such an item that may cost more (bus fare and shipping and time) than I would get reimbursed for.
don't waste your time unless A)you plan to buy a short mini to normal USB cord and B)you are using this for a netbook or other small device or C) want to buy 2 of these for a laptop (along with 2 new USB cords).
