ASUS Google Nexus 7 Dark Gray Travel Cover

Pros: - Thermoplastic polyurethane material is soft, but durable.
- Also grippy... so as to go guard accidental drops.
- Slim, easily fits in most small to medium sized carry bags.
- Snug fit.

Cons: - The front "screen flap" can get in the way sometimes and be a pain to keep out of the way of the screen when watching Netflix or play Plants vs Zombies. I imagine this is the case with most apps that orientate themselves to be wide-screen.

Other Thoughts: Like I said... it does it's job of a quick cheap-ish "starter" case... but as for something more long-term and more protection... I'll be looking for an OtterBox.

Pros: good material, dense but not too heavy. good feel, won't slip

Cons: none, for the $ it's a good cover

Hard to get on (again a good thing).
Fits like a skin and not a glove (that's another good thing)

ASUS made the darn thing and the Nexus so it should be a perfect fit.


It takes a small bit of work to get it on but once it is on, its on. It feels like a glued-on outer shell making it very slim and you won't need to worry about it slipping off.

It's material has a soft rubber feel to it that makes it not slide easily yet doesn't make it 'sticky'. No, it does not have a magnetic cover but it is unnecessary because the power button is right there on the edge and the Nexus wakes up quick. The flap covers the screen perfectly flat. The small raised ridge of the flap keeps it from sliding. And the hinge does not feel weak. I have yet to have a problem with the flap from.....flapping off. I have never had the flap catch on something to pull it open. It has been opened and closed well over a hundred time from all the way shut to all the way open and there are no sings of cracking.

Other Thoughts: As stated in the description, it is a case/cover. No where does it claim to be a stand or have a magnetic cover. Do not give it a con or take an egg off for it not being what you wanted it to be. It doesn't keep my coffee warm but it doesn't say it would either.
The cover fits snug enough that you could put it on a stand and still throw in a pouch or just you bag, glove compartment or jacket.

I didn't buy it here. Wish I would have because I paid $30 for mine.

I've been using ASUS since Intel's Pentium was wearing diapers. This is another great product from ASUS, let alone the Nexus 7. Google did a good job asking ASUS to make it.

Pros: Official case, fits snugly, free shipping from Newegg was nice

Cons: Terrible plastic texture, did not feel good to hold, cover is floppy and plastic hinge felt weak

Other Thoughts: Returned it and will be replacing it with a more substantial cover from a third party manufacturer. Cannot believe this is the "official" case from Asus...

Pros: It look very nice, cover the Nexus 7 whole.

Other Thoughts: I was looking for the Nexus 7 cover for a while now but Google Play was sold out of the Nexus 7 cover but when i saw it in Newegg, i order it & i'm happy that it's the very same of the Google Play one. Thanks Newegg.

Pros: Perfect fit leaving access to all connections and speaker.

Cons: Would have given it 5 eggs if it were say $9.99, but hey it's name brand so I guess its OK.
Also with the front cover was a bit more rigid so I could use it to prop up the NEXUS, but again I knew this going in to the purchase.

Other Thoughts: If your looking for a cover/stand this is not it. Also it doesn't wake when you open it, however the power/wake button is easier to find/press with the cover on.

Pros: Protects from scratches and dust, fits well.

Cons: It doesn't stand the device up, it doesn't wake or sleep the device, the cover doesn't fold back nicely.

Other Thoughts: Being the official case, I hoped for more functionality.

Pros: Fits like a glove.

Color and design are inconspicuous: i.e. not flashy and drawing attention in a busy airport.

The screen cover is sturdy and provides ample coverage for the front of the tablet. It rests flat on the screen and folds out of the way easily when the device is being used.

Cons: The material feels a bit cheap. It's thick, but cheap feeling. It reminds me of silicone mixed with old-school dollar store 3-ring binder cover plastic. Matte TPU has always felt like this to me, it's not necessarily a knock on the performance or the actual quality of the cover itself, just a personal niggle.

It would have been pretty slick if Asus (or whoever manufactured this cover) included magnets in the top cover to turn this into a "smart" cover ala fruity pads.

Other Thoughts: READ: This is not a "smart" cover. Don't buy this if you expect it to turn your N7's screen on and off upon opening or closing.

This is probably one of the best covers for the Nexus 7 for the price you pay for it. It's durable, doesn't add bulk, and looks rather good (i.e. stock). This is a must buy.

Pros: This is, of course, the official case for the Nexus 7. The fit is perfect and has the same high-quality feel of the textured back casing of the tablet. This case has the same "Nexus" logo on the back that is on the tablet itself. I guess it just comes down to personal preference. If you like the feel of the tablet, then you will like the feel of this case. The front flap offers adequate protection for the screen, in my opinion.

Cons: The cons are the things I'm sure you know about already if you've researched this case at all. There's no magnet to automatically wake the tablet when the screen flap is pulled away, which would have been nice, but wasn't a dealbreaker for me. This isn't a heavy-duty case, which for me isn't a con, but for some it could be. I don't use my tablet outdoors, but for those that do, I'm not sure this case would offer enough protection to withstand a substantial drop onto concrete.

Other Thoughts: All in all, I really like this case. It's a little on the pricey side for such a basic case, but for being a basic case, it's a nice one. I think it looks nice, and feels like a quality made product. Plus, after shipping, you can get it a few bucks cheaper here on Newegg than on the Google Play store, if they even have them in stock on the Play store.
