Pros: The lock mechanism works well with the key. I had no trouble locking it to my external backup drive. The smelly O-ring and the rubber sleeve can be removed, which somewhat negates the main gist of the previous poor reviews.

Cons: Cable diameter is about 2/3 the size of an official Kensington lock I have--that is okay, though, since I will only be using it at home. Plus it could still be pretty hard to cut through even at that diameter, I don't know. The lock's connection to the cable is pretty loose compared to the Kensington--I can wiggle it around alot more, which may be why this one was way easier to successfully lock to a piece of IT equipment than the Kensington lock.

Other Thoughts: By far the stinkiest parts on this lock are the rubber pieces--an O-ring on the tip of the lock itself, and a rubber sleeve around the cable loop's permanent metal clamp. I just removed & discarded those (I wrapped the cable end near the clamp with electrical tape to protect other computer cables from the sharp cable end), and cleaned it up with some WD-40. Now it is a non-stinky lock at a great price.

The receipt said Syba on it (and the plastic package has the Syba part number on it) but the actual cardstock inside the package says it is made by Spyker--the model # listed on the packaging is SPY-ANTI-SCU280. Their URL is spyker-france.com. I'd imagine Syba manufactures for Spyker or vice versa.

Pros: None

Cons: Cheap design. Smells really bad when pulled out of packaging. Smells like paint thinner. Stunk up my whole apartment. 1 of the ones I ordered was broken, the key did not fit in the lock and a lock pin fell out of the lock.

Poorly secures to laptop.

Other Thoughts: Do no buy, spend a little more money on a better one.

Cons: Has a very strong smell when you open the box. It does not go away either. It smells very strongly of something that smells like paint thinner. Poor quality I got 2 of them because of their price. 1 was broken when i received it, it had the wrong key with it and and a piece broken off it. Both smelled terrible.

Other Thoughts: DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM. Spend the extra money and get one that does not smell terrible and has better quality.

Pros: Seems decent. Will deter a grab & run, but probably wouldn't stand up to a prepared & determined thief.

Cons: I am in no way a sensitive person; I have no allergies, and I have never been bothered by any chemicals. The instant I opened this package, there was a powerful chemical odor and my eyes started to burn. I immediately took everything outside. About 15m later, my eyes where still burning somewhat. I have no idea what chemicals were used to manufacture this item, but I have NEVER had any experience remotely like this.

Other Thoughts: Hopefully soap & water will render is usable.
