2 out of 5 eggsNot working as expected

Pros: NA

Cons: Its unable to cool the Laptop properly.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Reddi,

We are sorry to hear you are having trouble with our cooler. The purpose of the cooler is to provide fresh air to your laptop's cooling system. Some laptops don't have their cooling system on the bottom of the laptop such as Macbook pros which don't have any vents. Please make sure that your laptop has vents on the bottom to ensure the cooler is able to provide fresh air. If you have questions regarding this, please let us know.
Respectfully,

CMUSA Support

3 out of 5 eggsIt's ok

Pros: Cheap and works

Cons: Does not move airflow very well, fan is not in a protective casing so anything underneath it can break fan.

Other Thoughts: buy a better product for extra, this just plain isn't worth it with the design flaw.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: Quite
Excellent flow

Cons: No blade protection on bottom. No off switch. No routing or place to secure USB power cord from contacting fan blades.

Other Thoughts: I like it, but it is easy to hit the fan blades from underneath, there is no off switch, and the USB power wire should be routed or attached where it will not come into contact with the exposed blade.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent for cooling Audio Receivers and Amplifiers

Pros: This is an inexpensive unit. If it were $40 then perhaps it would get less stars but for $20 it is a great product.

This unit has a large fan, good build quality, a USB connector that allows you to piggyback a USB connection to it.

It is the best unit I have found for adding an auxiliary fan to the top of my high end audio receivers. Now that receivers process HDMI along with their normal job of amplifying audio they get very warm internally which can shorten their life.

When I added this fan to the top of my AVR It dropped the temperature over 20 degrees when running (on the case so internal drop is probably even more). The current draw is within the range of my rear switched USB connector so I can simply plug it into the AVR usb port and it runs when the AVR is on.

This unit has plenty of clearance to allow airflow out of the AVR should the fan fail. This is important when you have a $20 fan on top of a $1000 AVR.

The noise is lower than most other cooling pads in this price range and it doesn't have any cheesy annoying LEDs.

For the unintended purpose of an AVR cooler it is nearly perfect. I have one on my AVR and another on my external amplifier which is closer to the shelf above it than I would like.

Cons: ABS rather than aluminum but what do you expect for $20?

If you have a heavy laptop on top of it eventually the weight might flex the plastic but I think that would still take time and abuse before it would occur.

Other Thoughts: Might be better as an aux fan on my Audio Video Receiver or Amplifier than as a laptop pad.

2 out of 5 eggsDisapointing

Pros: It looks nice

Cons: It worked for a week at best. I have several other units all made of metal and they
seem to work better. Better in the sense that they still actually work. This conked
out after a few days.

1 out of 5 eggsJust don't bother with this

Pros: Cheap after rebate
USB port works

Cons: Noisy fan
Poor construction

Other Thoughts: Just don't bother with this. First unit fan was noisy after a day. Replacement was noisy after a week.
makes an ok laptop platform on a desk, but tilt not adjustable.
Just not worth the trouble.
Will soon be in a Goodwill store or landfill.

4 out of 5 eggsDoes what its supposed to

Pros: Sturdy, good build quality
Huge fan, moves a lot of air
Nice design, if you are looking or it.
Price (After MIR)

Cons: Fan is very flimsy, blades can get damages on touch so have to be very careful. It vibrates due to imperfect alignment of blades, which I might have caused
Not enough cage/protection around the fan so you can end up inadvertently touching the delicate blades

Other Thoughts: Its designed to juts sit on a desk and probably not moved around too much. Juts be careful not to touch the blades of the fan while handling. Overall a pretty good product

1 out of 5 eggsReally? Manufacturer should have spent 5 more cents for ball bearings.

Pros: Cheap. Free After Rebate.

Cons: Fan makes awful noise.
Cheap plastic.

Other Thoughts: Come on dude! This product is right under your PC. Do you think noise is important???
