NZXT Black Aluminum Notebook Cooler with 16" Support Model Cryo X60

Pros: The effectiveness of any laptop cooler depends on how well the fan locations match your laptop's particular venting arrangement. This matches my Dell Precision M4700 vent locations very well, and has a dramatic effect on temp when running CPU-heavy apps (3D rendering). Still scary hot when running Prime95, but not so bad when rendering. Before it was scary hot when rendering, and I didn't even dare try Prime95.

This has a metal surface for the laptop to rest on, and can be disassembled for service or repair. Infinitely preferable to something made of plastic and glued together.

Cons: None, really. It even fits in the Dell backpack designed for a 15.6" machine.

Other Thoughts: It's unfortunate the first reviewer subtracted 3 eggs because the power LED didn't work. I almost overlooked this product as a result, and that would have been a shame. I haven't tried every cooler on the market, but I did go through the reviews pretty thoroughly. Only a few had an optional AC adapter, and only a few had 120mm or larger fans. Combine those features with the fact that the fan pattern nicely matches the M4700 vent pattern, and this was the obvious choice for serious cooling.

Pros: Very nice design, keeps laptop cool. I like the fact that I can either power from external supply OR USB.

Cons: Power LED DOA. Tried to email tech support twice, still no response. Looks like it's to RMA back to NewEgg. The finish on this shows scratched REALLY easy, while a soft cloth wipes them away, over time I am sure they will be permanent.
