1 out of 5 eggsAsus Tech Support Problems

Pros: It's nice when connected.

Cons: The battery doesn't work as it's supposed to and Asus Tech Support doesn't want to fix it.

When the unit is docked, it is supposed to pull power from the docks battery first. That way, when undocked, the tablet has the maximum possible charge in its own battery. Instead, the unit pulls fromt the tablet's battery first while docked, leaving the tablet's battery dead when it's undocked. The unit has been sent to Asus's tech support with a narrative the exact steps needed to show the problem. They failed to repair the unit. In fact, they returned the dock to me from their Grapevine, TX repair center (where the unit was dropped off) and returned the tablet from CA, so the folks working on it didn't even have BOTH parts available to test if they had repaired the unit. We had also swapped the unit at the retail store for another brand new unit and it has the same problem. I've asked Asus to do something that should be very, very simple. Pull a unit off the shelf and follow my steps and see what they get on a totally different unit. Since we've already swapped the unit for another brand new one at the store, it appears to be a design problem, not a problem with my unit. So far, they have refused to follow this simple testing step.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome docking by ASUS

Pros: Adds another 6-8 battery life and makes the tablet become an interact-able netbook. This is where I see all laptops eventually heading and they are! The full keyboard is nice! It also locks the tablet firmly in place. I can confidently hold the keyboard and know the tablet is locked in. The tablet vibrates when it snaps in so you know you are set. It is also fairly easy to remove. I can type fairly quickly on it!

Cons: I have to agree, this key dock is a little quished togethed but I can deal with it. My finger does tend to float and hit the touchpad but the nice thing is you can turn it off. I do leave it off most of the time since I can just tap the screen. The only thing, out of everything the Surface offered, that I liked more was the actually keyboard. Not the soft one, but the actually keyboard. It had more space which made it less cramped together.

Other Thoughts: The key dock for both the Surface and the Vivo are the only things that really separate them for me. If you really just want a tablet you can just take to class, maybe the surface is a better choice. I like this one more because it adds battery life, so I know I am good all day with it, regardless of what I am doing. I feel like the key dock for the surface is maybe meant to be left stationary somewhere and you can just come back to it when you need it. Other then that, it doesn't seem so good to me.

Hope this helps, best of luck in your decision!
