Pros: Cheap. Lightweight. Higher power rating than the original battery.
Cons: I have an HP 8710p laptop. As it's about 4 years or so old, the battery is showing signs of age, like holding a limited charge. It still charges up and down, just more quickly than before. So I thought I would buy a new battery to get my battery life back up to snuff. Bought this battery.
When it arrived, I placed it in the laptop and allowed it to charge up. So far, so good. I unplugged and turned on the laptop. Still good. I started working on stuff, which was fine for about half an hour, when the power suddenly dropped completely. Zero. Lost whatever I was doing. Plugged the laptop back in and turned on the power. Charge indicator in Windows 7 said 45% battery charge, and charging. But the number never increased. Stuck at 45%. I unplugged the power and again the power dropped immediately. Plugged it back in and left it off to charge for several hours. Checked again, still stuck at 45% and never increased.
Did the RMA process (including the $10+ to return ship). Got the replacement battery about a week or so later. Put it in the laptop, left it off and charging overnight. Next day, turned off the laptop, it showed full charge. Unplugged and commenced working on stuff. Same deal, this time at about 35%, power dropped. Turned it back on, same thing. Stuck at 35% and charging, but the percentage never increased.
Thinking it might be something with the laptop's charging circuit, I put the original HP battery back in and charged it. Pulled power and began working, all the way down to warning so I could plug in. Charged it back up and did it again. Charging circuit works fine with the original battery.
For a battery that cost me $60, another $10 to ship it back is getting pretty expensive. I'm thinking of cutting my losses, but the least I can do is warn others about the junk quality of these batteries.
