1 out of 5 eggsWorthless

Pros: Look and feel sturdy

Cons: Doesn't work with Win7 on Panasonic CF-S10

Other Thoughts: Even after downloading the latest driver, this piece of junk still doesn't show any video. Didn't try to test other function since if video doesn't work, this junk is going back.

2 out of 5 eggsSupport Sucks on Windows 7

Pros: It worked great in windows xp.

Cons: Since upgrading my laptop to Windows 7 it will not even install. I called support and they told me it was an issue with windows 7 service pack 1 and intel HD graphics. There would be new drivers in a week. Well it has been 1.5 months. Just called today and they are still working on the drivers and they will not give me a time frame. How long has SP1 been out?

2 out of 5 eggsStill trying to get it working

Pros: Sturdy. Layout designed well.

Cons: Video and ethernet do NOT work without drivers on my ASUS N61J running Windows 7 Pro. Either get BSOD or horrible screen resolution. Doesn't want to work with laptop closed either. May have to return for replacement... Either I have a bad one or they're sorely mistaken about plug'n'play and features.

Other Thoughts: Will update if I get this working as advertised.

1 out of 5 eggsNeeds more research

Pros: Solid stand with non-skid backing on the base. Great idea overall. The USB portion has worked flawlessly.

Cons: Specifically with the Lenovo SL510 I have video problems. After installing updated drivers as instructed by tech support the external monitor worked... until rebooting. It's a Windows XP sp3 installation fresh from Lenovo and no other external devices have been added. The network connection is also intermittent. Support from Kensington missed the mark in this case. See other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: As related in my response to the customer service survey: When you promise to call back - call back. I called back and got the story that my rep, xxx, needed more time to research the issue. First he needed 45 minutes then he needed another hour and a half and my day was over. I only work here two days a week, so this morning's email contains a notice that the call status is now "SOLVED" because you have not heard from me in 96 hours.

2 out of 5 eggsCaused conflicts for me

Pros: Has a lot of features for a low price. Everything worked after the automatic install: UBS ports, network, display with very little lag, sound was loud

Cons: Several blue screens of death when starting other programs. I think there is a driver conflict between ATI and this when running dual desktop monitors. I had two programs that would not start up with the dock installed. I am sure I could find a solution that worked, but not worth my time to figure it out.

3 out of 5 eggsLaggy Display

Pros: Does all what a docking station has to do.
Good number of ports

Cons: Display lags.

Other Thoughts: The display lagging just killed it for me, had to return it.

2 out of 5 eggsShotty on Vista 64-bit

Pros: It works great right out of the box with Windows XP. Drivers auto-installed, USB, ethernet, DVI video and audio all worked flawlessly. Installed it on three XP machines and they were all great.

Cons: I don't know what the problem is with Vista 64bit, but this thing is shotty. First off, the installation with Vista does not go smooth. It hangs and completely messed up my regular video card drivers and settings. Then you have to download and install the drivers from the Kensington website (which is a horrible website with little to no information). Finally after new drivers and a reboot or two, it sometimes works.

I've only the DVI port, ethernet port, and USB ports working all at the same time on one of my Vista machines once. I unplugged the Kensington power and when I plugged it back in the ethernet stopped working. It's not a driver issue, Vista just doesn't even see it. I plug it into one of my XP machines, everything's great. Plug it back in to one my of Vista machines and it's a roll of the dice as to what's going to work.

Other Thoughts: Maybe Windows 7 is better. Maybe Vista 32-bit works fine. Bottom line, if you're running Vista 64-bit, do NOT get this.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat for 2 hours, then...

Pros: Plug-N-Play. This thing plugs in nicely and plays with everything (except LAN, which might be a Netbook issue). Going from a DELL D-Dock, to this really clears up the space. On a Netbook scenario, plugging one USB and one power cord isn't for Hot Swap on the fly.

Cons: Worked for 2 hours, then would not recognize any plugged in devices, excpet for the USB cable into the laptop. Kensington's web site is about useless, as it's slow and has no FAQs on this device. Time for an RMA.

Other Thoughts: Until HP comes out with their Docking Solution for the Netbook, I'm hoping a 3rd party will step up and work :)

5 out of 5 eggsRecommended Docking Station

Pros: Docking station works right out of the box. I hooked all peripherals up to the docking station (USB keyboard, USB mouse, 1 monitor, 1 USB video card connected to third monitor, sound input, and printer) and then connected the docking station to my laptop via the supplied USB cable (I am running XP SP3). The laptop booted up, and the docking station was instantly added; my main second monitor took over as primary monitor automatically (there is a button on the front of the docking station to switch the primary monitor...easy!). It literally took 0 configuration; the drivers were automatically installed and I was ready to roll; I did have to install the drivers for the USB video card, but I was prompted for these, and it was pretty simple.
Want to switch laptops? Not a prob! I powered everything down and then connected the Docking Station USB cable to another laptop (running Vista Home); everything was picked up and configured automagically!

Cons: The small docking station does put out a bit of heat. Mind you, it is nothing that will peel paint off of the walls, but it will heat your hand up. I have been running it for 3 days staright, and I have had no problems with this, though.

Other Thoughts: I am impressed. This docking station is a breeze to install and use. So far, so good!
