Clarification on Analog
- Pros: N/A

- Other Thoughts: My point of this review is only to clarify that this adapter DOES NOT AND CANNOT support the analog half of the DVI standard. That is, you can't use this with an ANALOG DVI display (some are) or a dvi>vga adapter. That's because the DisplayPort standard includes no analog component like DVI did. The conversion from DP to DVI is passive, that is, it doesn't require special circuitry, whereas the conversion to Analog is active: you have to have a circuit inbetween to interpret, which makes the adapter more expensive. This is not one of those.
Works w/Mac Pro ATI Radeon 4870
- Pros: Used this to connect my Samsung monitor to the MiniDisplayPort on my Mac Pro (Nehalem, ATI Radeon 4870 512MB) and it worked fine. Also used it to connect an Optima project and it worked fine.
- Cons: None but feels a little chincy, plastic.
Works perfectly, but doesn't do analog conversion
- Pros: It works perfectly, as expected of a mini displayport to DVI adapter, and its cheap. I use it on a dell 24" widescreen.
- Cons: DOES NOT DO ANALOG CONVERSION...or something like that. What I mean is you can't plug in a DVI to VGA adapter to this so you need a separate VGA adapter anyway. Lame.
- Other Thoughts: Should carry an analog signal too, don't understand why it doesn't.
