4 out of 5 eggsGood product for a good price

Pros: It works perfectly. Cheaper than what Apple offers or most places.

Cons: This con has nothing to do with the product. It took a LONG time to get here--the full 10 business days (including a long weekend).

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as expected

Pros: Works great with my late 2008 MacBook Pro on a 1920x1080 DVI display by Acer.

Cons: Nothing to speak of. Works just as well as the Apple adapter.

4 out of 5 eggsClarification on Analog

Pros: N/A

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: My point of this review is only to clarify that this adapter DOES NOT AND CANNOT support the analog half of the DVI standard. That is, you can't use this with an ANALOG DVI display (some are) or a dvi>vga adapter. That's because the DisplayPort standard includes no analog component like DVI did. The conversion from DP to DVI is passive, that is, it doesn't require special circuitry, whereas the conversion to Analog is active: you have to have a circuit inbetween to interpret, which makes the adapter more expensive. This is not one of those.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks w/Mac Pro ATI Radeon 4870

Pros: Used this to connect my Samsung monitor to the MiniDisplayPort on my Mac Pro (Nehalem, ATI Radeon 4870 512MB) and it worked fine. Also used it to connect an Optima project and it worked fine.

Cons: None but feels a little chincy, plastic.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks perfectly, but doesn't do analog conversion

Pros: It works perfectly, as expected of a mini displayport to DVI adapter, and its cheap. I use it on a dell 24" widescreen.

Cons: DOES NOT DO ANALOG CONVERSION...or something like that. What I mean is you can't plug in a DVI to VGA adapter to this so you need a separate VGA adapter anyway. Lame.

Other Thoughts: Should carry an analog signal too, don't understand why it doesn't.

5 out of 5 eggssweet

Pros: cheap as in price, easy to use, and works great.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I bought this one and the hdmi one for my lappy, and I'm glad I bought both since now I have the option to use either. just ordered a mac pro quad 2.66 so one of these will come in handy to run dual monitors on it as well....

4 out of 5 eggsGood alternative to Apple's.

Pros: A lot cheaper than Apple's version.
This supports a DVI-I cable! Which as of right now, Apple only supports DVI-D.
So this saves the trouble of having to get another cable since Apple is too lazy to just make their adapters DVI-I.

Cons: Seems cheaply put together, but cannot complain for this price.
Very stiff and I'm afraid I might be damaging it by bending it, only time will tell.

Other Thoughts: If you are unfamiliar with the differences in a DVI cable (analog, digital, integrated) then go to wikipedia and look up "digital visual interface". They have some good images to head you in the right direction.

5 out of 5 eggsDuh, it's only 1 inch long...

Pros: Cheaper than Apple's product.

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: The item is only an adapter to change from mini DisplayPort to DVI. Even if it was a long cord you would still need another to cable to connect to another device.

1 out of 5 eggsWhats up with the cord?

Pros: none

Cons: It's unusable because the cord is only 1 inch long! What good is this?

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well

Pros: Works well. Cheaper than Apple's adaptor.

Cons: Can't use DVI to VGA adaptor, must have a second Mini DisplayPort to VGA adaptor.

Other Thoughts: Overall satisfied. I was hoping that I wouldn't have to buy a second adaptor to use VGA (for projector hookups). I think newegg could probably make this even cheaper. Other sites have it for about five bucks less.
