The material is nice and the padding is very nice so really no worries about padding unless you are tough on cases, opt for a heavyweight. This bag is perfect for most 17 inch laptop applications. You will enjoy, lots of pockets unless you carry a desk. Perfect for the business or personal traveler that doesnt need a bunch of junk along with them all the time. Great purchase!!
