4 out of 5 eggsgood product

Pros: Perfect size for my 13" ultraportable laptop (Dell M1330)
Cools much better than the Heatshift ThermaPAK which only worked for about 3-4 hrs. With heatshift eventually bottom and top front would eventually get very too touch. That is no longer a problem with this. It is also incredibly quiet. I'm very satisfied with this product. The design looks nice also.

Cons: Based on past reviews I did not bother with USB power and used AC power only so I could run fans at highest setting. They have a wheel to control fan RPMs but lets face it most people are just going to set it to the max unless you are using USB power. Would be nice if they had an ON/OFF switch instead forcing you to unplug it. Its only useful as a desktop. I can't see using this on a plane etc.

Other Thoughts: I did a lot of research comparing reviews for all the current laptop coolers and finally decided on this model. I'm very glad that I did. I think this is the best model out there if you have an ultraportable that gets very hot.

2 out of 5 eggsNZXT CRYO S 15"

Pros: Heavy aluminum is what we need

Cons: 1. i have 3 and Power connect broke on all. Straight out connect destined to fail, should be bent from factory.
2. SHARP corners will hurt you doesn’t make sense.
3. Doesn’t move enough air on hot days.
4. no on/off switch
5. Poor connection point to your lap, after adding Velcro tape your laptop is to far from the natural cooling effects of aluminum.

Other Thoughts: i hope they do a second version with the fixes. I can't see why they didn't see these issues comming the first time.

4 out of 5 eggsmake sure you check your laptop base

Pros: Overall it is very cool. Nothing special.

Cons: The con is definitely the switch. There is no on and off. They could implement that by spending a few extra cents, I guess? You have to unplug it in order to turn the whole thing off.

Other Thoughts: A few thoughts came to my mine after using it for 3 months. First, again with the missing on and off switch.
Second, you should always use the DC Adapter. It takes a lot of power so you do not want to overload your USB port.
Third, yesterday I was reviewing my math exam and I accidentally pushed a paper toward the fan area. It hit with the fan. While the overall design is pretty and consice, its base does not have any protection cover for the base fans. Just be careful with it.

Last but not the least, with 3 extra usb ports, again, use the DC adapter.

OH OH. MAKE SURE YOU GOOGLE THINGS BEFORE YOU PURHCASE ANY LAPTOP COOLER. Your base has to match with the cooler van in order to get the cooling effect. Last time I purchased an Antec one and I did not do my hw, I had to resell it as second hand (luckly only a dollar short) because my laptop would not get the cooling work.

DO IT

4 out of 5 eggsIts a well designed notebook cooler

Pros: Very well designed notebook cooler. The Aluminum design is high tech and the materials used is a good choice. The Rubber material keeps it from falling off the cooler. Also the fans are high quality.

Cons: I got this for a customer. The bearings in one of the fans or maybe both of them didn't sound good. But it worked its way out, however might need manufacturer to check into it. You can hear it if you listen to the fans.

Other Thoughts: Hopefully NZXT might be able to build something like this with also a low profile design, and slimmer.

2 out of 5 eggsNot what I thought

Pros: Sturdy, Doesn't look like it's going to bend or break anytime soon. Keeps my laptop cool enough so that it doesn't overheat but just barely

Extra USB ports are nice.

Cons: The rubber finish on top that's supposed to keep the laptop from sliding off doesn't work at all. I have to use the laptops little nub lifts at the end to hook it over to top.

The fan HAS to be on max or else it doesn't push any air at all. The whole unit has to be propped up as well because there isn't enough clearance on the bottom for airflow. (I have mine on top of some thick books)

No off switch so plugging it into the wall socket is pointless unless you have something plugged into the USB and it needs more power.

USB slots aren't in easy access area.

Other Thoughts: I'd replace the stock fans for something better. The unit itself isn't too bad except that you need to find a way to keep your laptop from sliding off.

3 out of 5 eggsCould use some design changes

Pros: I have a Dell XPS M1530 15.4"

Solid build, looks good, thick aluminum is ice cold, large fans, AC power option available, and very quiet. Provides decent cooling when positioned just right. Perfect size for 15.4"

Would be great if your laptop intake fan was position towards the upper middle 2/3 of the laptop.

Cons: NOT GOOD FOR LAPTOPS WITH INTAKES IN THE CORNERS.

By far the biggest issue is the design of the base. The grills of the cooler block the fans! I would say almost 60% of the fan area is blocked either completely or partially by the base design. This is a major problem if your laptop fan intake is in the upper left or right corners as the 1530's is. If I position the laptop to fit right on top of the cooler then the rubber grips of the base almost completely block the laptop intakes.

As other reviewers have said the fan power on max is rather weak. Even at this speed it's not that loud and the air moved is mediocre.

Other Thoughts: I was deciding between this and the Zalman nc1000. The Zalman's design doesn't seem all that much better for laptops with their main intakes in the back. But since it has much more exposed surface area, it could be better.

If you have fans towards the middle of your laptop then this is the cooler for you.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Good design, very sturdy and solid. Good airflow with 2 big fans on the bottom. Fan speed adjustment works and the rubber padding keeps my laptop from sliding all over the place.

Cons: Sharp edges! This thing will cut you if you're not careful! Airflow can be greatly improved by slightly lifting it off of the table or wherever you're using it. USB Ports in the back don't seem to do anything.

Other Thoughts: Good cooling pad for the money

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works Great easy hookup

Cons: Is not compatible with all laptops, bought laptop and pad at same time and the cooling pad sends reverse power signals to my computer which is shutting down my usb ports, to solve this problem i no longer power the cooling pad with the computer i use the outlet hookup.

Other Thoughts: VERY QUIET

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome cooler

Pros: Keeps my Dell Inspiron 6000 very cool. Variable spped fans are quiet.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: It is big and heavy compared to the plastic coolers so I wouldn't travel with it, but I knew that when I bought it.

5 out of 5 eggsWow

Pros: Looks great. Works really really well. Had another decent cooling pad for a few days prior to this one, meanwhile tracking my temps. During intense PC maintenance + activity, core temp un-cooled was around 70C; previous cooling pad it'd hover around 54C. This one keeps it at ~40C! Excellent. It's also quiet.

Cons: Only 2 USB ports, but thats not a big deal.

Other Thoughts: Raise up the back of your laptop on the pad (1/2" foam or something like it). This lets more air through circulate across the bottom; it'll help.
