Cooler Master NotePal X-Lite Silent Laptop / Notebook Cooling Pad, up to 15"

Pros: Quiet!!! I wasn't even sure that it was running, but that comes at a price (see Cons). Perfect fit for my old C2D MacBook. Good value.

Cons: Does not seem move much air, that said any air or even just the stand is better than nothing.

Other Thoughts: Since the MB has no vents on the bottom lots of air won't help much. I don't even think i will mess with the rebate.

Pros: Very quiet and easy to maintain

Cons: I see no cons and I had this laptop cooler for a decent amount of time now

Other Thoughts: I've use it for a small MacBook Air, Medium Samsung notebook, Large Asus G73 & even an Xbox

Pros: Fairly quiet, nice single large fan, like the "X" shape with cutout sides for more ventilation

Cons: Still getting used to the elevated slope - it stands 1/2" at the front, and about 2" high at the back (plus the thickness of my laptop). Not a big problem though.

Other Thoughts: Very happy with this purchase - my Dell 14" laptop fan has not come on once since getting this cooler. Thanks Newegg for the Shell Shocker rebate deal!

Pros: Before the cooler, temperatures on my processor were 155-160 F. I was having a problem with my HP EliteBook 8740W with one of my monitors running off of the docking station going to sleep/loss of signal. I would have to reboot the laptop to reset the graphics display. Slid this under the laptop and moved it around until it was actually pushing air into the vents. Temperatures dropped to 140 - 147 F. It works and it's quiet.

Cons: Doesn't fit well with a docking station attached, but can make it work well enough.

Pros: I love this thing. The shape is stylish and open to keep air circulating. The fan works great. It's durable and well-priced. I got it for $5 on a promotional but I'd pay the full price if I really needed a cooling pad.

Pros: Better built than I would have expected at this price point. The unit provides extra cooling not only by the large built-in fan, but also by the unique elevated "X" design.

The fan runs quietly though not entirely silent, but isn't anywhere as intrusive as the laptop's CPU fan when it kept coming on full speed prior to getting this cooler. I normally can't even notice it at all unless the room is completely silent. Now the CPU fan doesn't go into high speed mode with the cooler running.

The unit provides a nice angle of elevation allowing extra air circulation even if the fan weren't running, and is much more comfortable typing than with the laptop laying flat.

The USB plug allows for plugging in another device into it so that you don't lose a USB connection. An external drive and a jump drive both worked normally when plugged into this.

Cons: No problems to report.

Other Thoughts: Works great and now the laptop runs cool enough that the obnoxious CPU fan isn't coming on every few minutes at high speed.

I don't run a lot of games so I cannot say if under those extreme conditions that this cooler would be able to keep up, but for normal Internet use and streaming movies it runs considerably cooler than it did before.

The unit has four rubber pads at the corners to hold the laptop in place and they work well. My laptop is 15.6" and fits perfectly on this. Based on the design it looks like a 17" laptop could easily fit only it would overlap the sides a bit but that shouldn't have any effect on the functionality.

Only two questions:

1. Will I get the rebate? Most companies outsource their rebate campaigns and rebate fraud is notorious and the parent company often times won't take responsibility yet they hired the third party to represent them so they should.

2. How long will the unit last? This is not a reflection per se on Cooler Master as with many things these days, they are built in China to get a low price but aren't built to last. It looks well built though.

Pros: Does what its suppose to do. Quiet and efficient.

Cons: Feels cheap, but what would you expect from something thats dirt cheap. Only 14.99 and 4.99 after mail in rebate

Other Thoughts: spend a little extra and buy something better
