Pros: It's smaller than the 230 watt adapter

Cons: Stopped working: charging LED on laptop would either not turn on or blink.

Other Thoughts: I used this 90 watt adapter on an EliteBook 2530p and docking station. Both the laptop (low voltage CPU) and docking station ship with a 65 watt adapter. Still have the original 65 watt with 2009 date code that shipped with the laptop.

2 out of 5 eggsIt's okay

Pros: It works... when it works.

Cons: I've had my HP Compaq 6515b for three years now... and this will be the second one I've bought. The first one (that came with the laptop) lasted about a year. The second one has lasted just a little bit longer, but not much. And while it still technically works, my computer regularly does not recognize that it is plugged in. It has something to do with the part that plugs into the laptop itself. I think something has loosened.

Other Thoughts: Based on other laptops and their power supplies (the ones that I have worked with at least) this seems about par for the course. Other than the power supply--and the battery, which I am also having to replace this year--my HP works well. I am upgrading the memory from 1GB to 2GB and will probably use this laptop for a couple more years at least.
On the other hand, when I get the money for it, I am definitely building my own desktop. That is not something I trust any one company to build.

1 out of 5 eggsIt works...

Pros: It powers the HP laptop as it is supposed to, for a limited time.

Cons: It fails in relatively short order (2-5 months) since the HP laptop drives it at close to 100% capacity at all times.

Other Thoughts: Ostensibly HP will only warranty defects, apparently burning out from their poor design doesn't count.

1 out of 5 eggsIf you own a compatible HP computer, you'll be buying one of these.

Pros: Easy to install, no instructions needed. One end plugs into the computer, the other plugs into the wall.

Cons: Breaks constantly. I've owned an nw8440 computer for 3 years, and I've gone through 5-6 different power supplies. The computer simply draws too much current, the transformer-brick is not vented, and the unit is too expensive.

Other Thoughts: I work as a sales associate in a store that sells laptops. I can't stop people from buying HP, but I certainly do my best. I am thoroughly unimpressed with everything HP related; especially the cheap quality of their power supplies.

1 out of 5 eggsAwful product

Pros: While it works, it works well enough

Cons: Breaks on a regular basis, in the same way (partially based of reviews on HP's website, where some 90% of reviewers had the same problem as myself). It worked fine for 10 months or so (mostly because I didn't have my computer for ages, also due to substandard quality of HP's products), but recently failed. The bit that plugs in to the computer came lose from the shell (the metal part that goes inside the computer from the part that is held while plugging it in), causing a complete failure in the connection. Me being a high school student with no job, I have no money to spend on ridiculously expensive replacement parts that break due to shoddy manufacture.

Other Thoughts: Due to generally awful experiences with HP (hardware, software, and customer support), I would recommend against buying from them. They have the worst quality of parts that I have seen (in total, I have contacted HP support 41 times, based on results returned when searching my inbox, and all of these have been for the same dv6000 series laptop, and/or affiliated products (charger, etc.)). As a side note, customer support sucks too (it took them months to replace my motherboard, which should have been a simple task - though part of that was them sending it to the wrong address, and it taking ages to get them to actually send it, including several individuals at their call center outright lying about the status of my package).

Don't encourage HP to continue making low-quality products, buy from a different manufacturer.
