5 out of 5 eggsGreat Cooling pad

Comments: Had a problem with my Dell 5150 overheating, sent back to Dell to have the heatsink and new fan put in laptop. Before I got it back I ordered this cooling pad, the heat has went down alot still gets kinda hot when playing games but that is normal, would recommend this pad to anyone!!! Works Great also has ps2 to usb adapter included.

4 out of 5 eggs

Comments: I run a distributed computing (DC) client on a 700Mhz laptop and as a result, and even without the client maxing the CPU, the notebook gets extremely hot and sometimes the internal fan does not come on.

This cooler is good enough where sometimes the laptop's internal fan does not need to spin up. I have two minor gripes with this unit; First, I would like to see the stand that props the panel up be attached with locking hinges for easier transportation.

Second, the only thing that touches the bottom of the notebook are the rubber feet, which do not conduct heat well. It would be better for it to use thermal pads of some sort to transfer the heat from the notebook to the pad.

However, it is a great unit, very-well built with thick aluminum, and it cools great. I personally wasn't expecting much, but it's an awesome value and works as advertised.

5 out of 5 eggsYou need this!

Comments: I have bought two of these and amazingly they both solved my problems. Laptop components are so close together that the heat is passed directly from one component to another. I had one Laptop shutting down due to the processor overheating, after i put a heatsink underneath it, everything worked great. The other laptop got too hot and played choppy DVDs, after the heatsink was installed the DVD played smoothly. This is a highly recommended product, it will help with your laptop's health and lifetime.

4 out of 5 eggsGood if your usb/ps2 port is on the back or right side

Comments: Works great, very quiet. If your ps2/usb hub (includes adapter for ps2 to usb) is on the left side of your notbook, you will need to add an extension to the end of the cable. This cooler is designed with the assumption that your ports are on the right side or rear of your notebook. Because of this limitation, I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat notebook cooler

Comments: Upgraded the processor in my HP laptop, added a mini-PCI wireless LAN card and put in a bigger faster hard rive. Needless to say, the notebook was running hotter so I ordered this hoping it would work. The product works fabulous and isn't even that loud. The notebook runs nice and cool and the cooler doesn't even take up much room carrying it around. Only wish would be if the back, elevated end had rubber or felt feet to prevent possible scratching of nicely finished surfaces. Overall, a great deal for the price. I'm getting another one for my wife's laptop. Shipping overseas to APO (Iraq) took only 10 days. Thank you newegg!

3 out of 5 eggsalmost worth it

Comments: i paid a bit more 6 months ago for this item, sorry to say that one of the fans took a KO after just 6 months. And that is under only part-time use, if i had used it daily then maybe.. i did like the aluminum stand though.

5 out of 5 eggs

Comments: This is a nice notebook cooler- It's not that loud & it does help because the fan on my notebook does not come on that much because of this cooler. I have not done any testing but have read the reviews saying it does lower temps.

5 out of 5 eggsThe Cooling Effects of this Product are Impressive

Comments: <a href='http://www.byteccusa.com/product/cooler/nc-500.htm' target=_blank>http://www.byteccusa.com/product/cooler/nc-500.htm</a>

I was prompted to start looking for a way to cool my notebook down after upgrading to a 802.11a wireless network. Keep in mind that I was ALREADY using the Road Tools Pivot 360 which I picked up at a local Staples for $20 plus tax. The Pivot 360 simply provided a gap of air underneath my laptop to allow heat to flow into the air instead of my desk.

On good days, P2P alone caused my notebook cooling fan to run virtually 24/7 (with my Pivot 360). Eventually my fan got noisy and started doing funny things which caused my notebook to do an immediate shutdown due to overheating on a few occasions. The 802.11a PC card simply generated too much heat for my notebook to handle at times. I was really considering on going back to a wired network when I ran into this notebook cooler. I figured what the the hell.

Immediately after I replaced my Pivot 360 with my NC-500, my notebook fan stopped spinning within 7 to 10 seconds. I am not exaggerating. With the few exceptions where I may be doing newsgroup downloads in conjunction with P2P and file server transfers, or restarting my computer, my notebook fan never comes on anymore. I am a most satisfied customer.

The only glaring thing I would caution people is that if you have a nice desk, you may wish to use a towel or something to protect the surface from scratches. Plastic/Rubber feet are used in the front of the NC-500, but in the back it's simply folded aluminum.

In addition, there is a PS/2 to USB adapter included in case you're using your PS/2 port (The fans get their power from either the PS/2 port or USB port).

I don't think anyone can find a better cooler for the price.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great!

Comments: <a href='http://www.overclockedcafe.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=1891' target=_blank>http://www.overclockedcafe.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=1891</a>

Some say that notebook coolers are a waste of $$$ since they aren't that portable and that they don't get the job done, well this cooler proves 'em wrong! It's light, portable, a little ungainly for your lap but great when the notebook is on a hard surface like desk or table tray in plane. I included a link to the review of it. IMHO since it's less money than a premium heatsink for a desktop system it's a worthwhile investment and I'm stoked with it :)
