When it absolutely needs to stay on forever, Arctic Silver's ASTA-7G is the way to go. This permanent epoxy is made with 99.8% pure micronized silver and has a silver content of 62-65% by weight.

Arctic Silver is designed to conduct heat and not electricity even with its high silver content. When cured it does have some capacitance however, so it's best to keep it away from traces or leads. Arctic Silver conducts heat away from sensitive components and improves the efficiency of your cooling system. Keep things cool and functioning under the hottest action!

Pros: This stuff is AWESOME! Works like a charm!

Other Thoughts: A warning for the novice (and even experienced user).. this stuff is NOT meant for CPU/Heatsink application, for that use Arctic Silver 5. This is for heatstinks which are to be attached to chipsets, etc.

Pros: Very easy to mix and even includes a small plastic tool to mix and apply the epoxy. I used this stuff to epoxy a 40mm fan onto the copper heatpipes over my northbridge on my ASUS P5N32-E SLI PLUS. It brought my NB temps down and keeps it under 50C under high stress.

Other Thoughts: As other posters have said. This is a glue and not a thermal paste. Don't confuse this stuff with Arctic Silver 5 for your CPU.

Pros: Saved my laptop.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: The fan for my laptop gave out, and is connected to the heatsink, so I needed this product to replace it. Worked wonderfully, and my laptop is still puttering along happily over a year after I thought it might be toast. :)
Oh yeah, it runs a little cooler now too - bonus.

The smell of effective cooling.

Pros: Cheap. A trusted name in cooling compound. Bound quickly and firmly.

Cons: Smells TERRIBLE when mixing, I almost considered taking off an egg for the smell, but I figured it couldn't be helped and it didn't effect cooling which is the product's intention. My black-tube was hardened to the point I had to poke the end of it to get anything out.

Other Thoughts: Bought it to use on some heat sinks for memory on my 8600, working really well. My girlfriend got some in her hair, that was hot. If on hair or hands, soap and water works well to remove.
