When it absolutely needs to stay on forever, Arctic Silver's ASTA-7G is the way to go. This permanent epoxy is made with 99.8% pure micronized silver and has a silver content of 62-65% by weight.

Arctic Silver is designed to conduct heat and not electricity even with its high silver content. When cured it does have some capacitance however, so it's best to keep it away from traces or leads. Arctic Silver conducts heat away from sensitive components and improves the efficiency of your cooling system. Keep things cool and functioning under the hottest action!

  • newegg 99.8% Pure Silver The Arctic Silver ASTA-7G made of 99.8% pure micronized silver provides superior thermal conductivity.
  • newegg High Density The Arctic Silver ASTA-7G contains 62% to 65% silver content by weight. The thermally-enhanced micronized silver improves the adhesive's performance and long-term stability.

Features

Features
Characteristics:
Made with 99.8% pure micronized silver. 62% to 65% silver content by weight. Superior thermal performance.

Temperature Range:
- 40C to >150C (Bond strength is slightly weakened at temperatures below 0C due to crystallization.)

Negligible Electrical Conductivity:
Arctic Silver Thermal Adhesive was formulated to conduct heat, not electricity. NOTE: Even though Arctic Silver Thermal Adhesive is specifically engineered for high electrical resistance, it should be kept away from electrical traces, pins, and leads. The cured adhesive is slightly capacitive and could potentially cause problems if it bridged two close-proximity electrical paths.

Compliancy: RoHS Compliant.

Components:
A set of Arctic Silver Thermal Adhesive consists of two syringes containing a total of 7 grams of adhesive (3.5 grams each of parts
A and B) and a plastic reusable mixing wand.
Although heavier per set than Arctic Alumina Adhesive due to its use of silver rather than ceramic, each set of Arctic Silver Adhesive
contains the same amount of adhesive by volume as a set of Arctic Alumina adhesive and will cover the same area. Approximately
3cc total adhesive.

Storage:
Arctic Silve Thermal Adhesive should be kept cold and away from UV light (sunlight and florescent lighting). We recommend refrigerating the unused material and allowing it to come to room temperature prior to use.

Precaution:
Arctic Silver Thermal Adhesive is a permanent adhesive. Components you attach with Arctic Silver Thermal Adhesive will
stay attached forever.

4 out of 5 eggsgood enough

Pros: I've purchased this stuff twice, and I really like that such an inexpensive and easy way to bond heatsinks exists. Time to harden isn't too bad, which means you have enough time to adjust things.

Cons: The product expands as it cures, so your heatsinks will shift if you're not holding them in place with your hands or something else. It will happen, and weights will not do the trick. Also, it may harden on its own if not used quickly enough. I had to purchase another pack after my last one would not even squeeze out of the tube.

5 out of 5 eggsSticky stuff

Pros: Sticks great like super glue, conducts heat well!

Cons: None,.. unless you are a dummy and use this on your CPU and then complain that it sticks too well..

LOL honestly. if you did this, you shouldn't be building your own computer.

I hate to sound snide, but go buy a HP or a mac and call it a day.

Other Thoughts: Seriously tho, if you used this because newegg didnt explain in enough detail what it is then you are just dumb.

All you people that say it says nothing about it binding items together.

What in the world do you think ADHESIVE means?

Yeah this is not thermal compound, it is thermal compound mixed with an adhesive! so anything you use this on will Most likely be stuck....

HERES A PRO TIP.. When making the mixture. Use equal parts of each for a weaker bond, this way you wont cry and blame newegg, when you cant get your heatsink off of whatever you glued it to.

Secondly, if you are stupid enough to use this on your CPU because you are compulsive and didnt stop to think or read, here is how you get the bond to weaken..

UV.... UV LIGHT WEAKENS the bond that this creates.

You may need a lot of it. im not sure.. But I do know that if you get some UV A&B lights from a pet store and keep whatever u used this on under it, or if you live somewhere where the sun is very strong and u can keep whatever it is outside safely that should work over time as well.... it should loosen the bond.

Im not sure about UV Cathodes or LED strips as these are BLacklight UV and may not give off enough UV to do this.

Which is a good thing if u have UV to light your PC, because then you would have things falling off all over the place.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks well as an ADHESIVE!

Pros: It works awesome as a thermal adhesive... even workds on my CPU!

Cons: Did not realize this was an adhesive and disappointed that it showed up as a recommended purchase with my aftermarket heatsink... guess i should have paid more attention.

This was an accidental purchase and I thought I was getting artic silver thermal paste. This appeared when I was purchasing a CPU cooler. Furthermore, there was no warning that stuck out on the advertisement or packaging. I used this product and glued my CPU to my heatsink. It is a good thing that my aftermarket cool was on right and this was a thermal adhesive because my computer still runs... very disappointed.

3 out of 5 eggsNOT FOR CPUs!

Pros: I might find a way to use it other than with CPUs and heat sinks.

Cons: Right on the package it says "Not intended for a CPU" However, nowhere in the description does it say that<--Newegg take note!

Other Thoughts: If you need to permanently attach something that gets hot (fan, extra heat sink) this should work fine. However, as previously noted, do not use it on a CPU.

Newegg---you need to make note that this is not intended for use on a CPU!

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing!

Pros: Used this on a few builds so far and I gotta say, this stuff is amazing. I saw temps drop by about 20C (Using the stock thermal compound.)
Very NICE consistency.
Very easy to use.

Cons: Maybe a con for some, but they come with no instructions - you must go to the website and look them up. It's pretty self-explanatory.

As others users posted, this stuff dries rather quickly and becomes cement. Make sure you have everything all prepared and ready to install!

Other Thoughts: Really good stuff - glad I bought a bunch.

Arctic Silver 5 is nice too, but for the amount/price you get this better for overall general use.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as Advertised

Pros: Does what it's supposed to do. I used this to re-secure some VRAM heatsinks on an aftermarket VGA cooler after the factory 'tape' wore off and was no longer effective. This was easy to apply and only took a few minutes to set before being ready for use. Cools slightly better than the stock stuff. Considering this is Thermal Adhesive and Cooling Compound all in one package, the price is fair.

Cons: Ships in 2 separate syringe and no instructions. Syringes are labeled 1 and 2, but had to go in search of proper application instructions (weren't hard to find as Arctic Silver has them on their website).

Other Thoughts: Application instructions: http://www.arcticsilver.com/pdf/appinstruct/asta/ins_asepxy.pdf
