Thermal compound is necessary to create a reliable transfer of heat from your computer's processor to its heatsink to keep your CPU from overheating. Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound does this with three unique shapes and sizes of pure silver particles to maximize particle-to-particle contact area and thermal transfer. It's optimized for use between modern high-power CPUs and high-performance heatsinks or water-cooling solutions. This 3.5-gram tube contains enough compound to cover at least 15 to 25 small CPU cores, or 6 to 10 large CPU cores, or 2 to 5 heat plates.
Note: This is an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) version, which includes the product, but nothing else. They are packaged generically and are best suited for system builders who don't require documentation or bundled accessories.

Best Thermal Compound
- Pros: AC5 is by far and above the best thermal compound I've ever used. Much better heat transferrence than anything Thermaltake, Zalman, or anyone else puts in with their sinks.
- Cons: Mildly conductive, so be careful of those traces. Arctic Ceramique might be safer for applications that are close to circuits, since it's completely non-conductive. Also tastes NASTY.
- Other Thoughts: If you are holding the tube between your teeth while working, after you apply the AC5, put the cap back on BEFORE you put it back in your mouth.
Lowered My Body Temperature
- Pros: Premium Formula. Highest Thermal Conductivity around. Better than OEM paste (as it actually contains silver).
- Cons: Doesnt work well with my air conditioner, nor as a salad dressing.
- Other Thoughts: Got some on my finger, now my body temperature is 10-15 degrees lower.
How do I explain that to my doctor?
LESS IS MORE!! USE ONLY TWO RICE SIZED GRAINS (UNCOOKED) WORTH OF ARCTIC SILVER ON THE CENTER OF CPU. SPIN AROUND A FEW TIMES UNILL YOU HAVE A QUARTER SIZED CIRCLE IN THE MIDDLE. DONE AND DONE.

Works great
- Pros: Does the job.
- Cons: None.
- Other Thoughts: Paste is equally as import as a good cooler.
This paste between my Zalman 9500A 92mm cooler and AMD Phenom II 550, (running tested on 4 stable cores ) Has been keeping my CPU cool. Idle 29C, While stress testing 4 core cpu in torcher mode, max 43C. Asus M4A78T-E in Antec 900 caes.
- Pros: Works great, finally ran out after 3 CPU and a GPU installs. Helped my GPU from frying, was hitting tempuratures of 112c, after cleaning the dust and reapplying some of this compound (there was almost none left of the stock goop on my gpu) the temps rolled all the way down to 45C, 65Max load.
- Cons: Messy.
Works OK but over priced.
- Pros: Not much. Lower CPU temp around 2 degree C compared to stock thermal paste
- Cons: Over priced.
- Other Thoughts: I bought this product solely because of the 5 egg ratings it receives. It works OK. This product doesn't perform any better than the cheaper white ceramic thermal paste made by the same manufacturer (I've tried them both on the same computer before coming to this conclusion) and yet the ceramic grease is way cheaper. Overall, I think this product is just over-priced.
