Thermal compound is necessary to create a reliable transfer of heat from your computer's processor to its heatsink to keep your CPU from overheating. Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound does this with three unique shapes and sizes of pure silver particles to maximize particle-to-particle contact area and thermal transfer. It's optimized for use between modern high-power CPUs and high-performance heatsinks or water-cooling solutions. This 3.5-gram tube contains enough compound to cover at least 15 to 25 small CPU cores, or 6 to 10 large CPU cores, or 2 to 5 heat plates.

Note: This is an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) version, which includes the product, but nothing else. They are packaged generically and are best suited for system builders who don't require documentation or bundled accessories.

  • newegg 99.9% Pure Silver The Arctic Silver 5 uses three unique shapes and sizes of pure silver particles to maximize particle-to-particle contact area and thermal transfer.
  • newegg High Density The Arctic Silver 5 contains over 88% thermally conductive filler by weight. The thermally-enhanced ceramic particles including micronized silver, sub-micron zinc oxide, aluminum oxide and boron nitride particles improve the compound's performance and long-term stability.

5 out of 5 eggsThe Bomb

Pros: Extremely effective.

Cons: Doesn't make me toast.

Other Thoughts: This stuff is the bomb. Lowered temps on two AMD processors by 8-10 degrees centigrade over stock thermal paste patch on stock cooler, and by a solid 10 degrees centigrade on copper pipe cooler on an AMD X4 740. Read and follow the instructions on the Arctic website. The silver compound improves over time - up to 200 power cycles for full effect (hot running then cool off). I noticed a difference after the first five cycles, and it just gets better. Enough in the tube to do at least 10 processors/heat sinks if not more.

5 out of 5 eggsGood ol Arctic Silver

Pros: I've stopped caring about an extra .5 of a degree Fahrenheit gained by one thermal compound vs another in one setting or the other...

I get Arctic Silver now on the rare occasion I run out and dont think twice about it.

Cons: Its not a free Peltier setup?

5 out of 5 eggsArctic Silver 5 High-Density Polysynthetic Silver Thermal Compound review

Pros: Excellent thermal paste. I am running an Artic Freezer i11 CPU cooler. It came with some MX4 compound. I had already purchased this so I decided to use it based off of reviews and information I read comparing the two pastes. My system is running very reasonable temps even under a load compared to the feedback of others running the same CPU as I am.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: What's not to like about Arctic products?

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product, but it didn't solve my problem :(

Pros: Lowered my graphics card temps about 10 degrees at idle, 5 degrees lower at load.

Cons: Turns out my graphics card over heating was not due to thermal paste. while this did significantly improve temps, at normal clock speeds i am still 10-15 degrees above max temps (85c) at load. The real problem is a failing gpu :(

Other Thoughts: I've significantly under clocked my card to get at least another month or two out of it. the improved temps this paste has delivered should help make it last until i can buy a replacement

5 out of 5 eggsSuperb-ness

Pros: Laptop temp dropped by 5-8 degrees C and the shipping was really fast. The instructions were available online (which I prefer) and most people have access to the net even if their PC is not working because it needs thermal paste.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I will use this product for all of my computers now and in the future.
