Thermal compound is necessary to create a reliable transfer of heat from your computer's processor to its heatsink to keep your CPU from overheating. Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound does this with three unique shapes and sizes of pure silver particles to maximize particle-to-particle contact area and thermal transfer. It's optimized for use between modern high-power CPUs and high-performance heatsinks or water-cooling solutions. This 3.5-gram tube contains enough compound to cover at least 15 to 25 small CPU cores, or 6 to 10 large CPU cores, or 2 to 5 heat plates.

Note: This is an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) version, which includes the product, but nothing else. They are packaged generically and are best suited for system builders who don't require documentation or bundled accessories.

  • newegg 99.9% Pure Silver The Arctic Silver 5 uses three unique shapes and sizes of pure silver particles to maximize particle-to-particle contact area and thermal transfer.
  • newegg High Density The Arctic Silver 5 contains over 88% thermally conductive filler by weight. The thermally-enhanced ceramic particles including micronized silver, sub-micron zinc oxide, aluminum oxide and boron nitride particles improve the compound's performance and long-term stability.

4 out of 5 eggsIt works.

Pros: It's good thermal paste.
It's not electrically conductive.
It's very, VERY dependable.

Cons: It's electrically capacitive, which can be problematic under very specific, but rare, conditions.
Every thermal paste or thermal grease I've run into is a pain to clean, and this stuff is no exception.

Other Thoughts: I've used this stuff forever and it has yet to betray me.

5 out of 5 eggsThe best compound around

Pros: Easy to apply
Spreads nice and evenly

Cons: Expensive
Small amount

Other Thoughts: Arctic silver 5 is some of the best thermal compound you can buy. It is worth every penny. It is a small amount you get but it is more than enough considering you don't need to apply that much to the cpu for it to be effective.

4 out of 5 eggsArcticSilver5

Pros: Does what it supposed to, and well

Cons: I keep Arctic Silver5 on hand, for whenever I may need it, and I bought this tube in january, and kept it in an airtight conatainer until a week or so ago, when i opened it, the tube I recently bought from newegg was dried up, it seems that the tube is fine, but for Some reason the TIM inside is all dried up. The BIGGEST issue for Me, is that I have contacted Arctic Silver, and they have Chosen to ignore Me. I have used NOTHING but ArcticSilver5 for Years, and I provided them with pictures, proof of purchase etc.. and they just ignored ME. Time to find a New TIM

Other Thoughts: NA

5 out of 5 eggsWell it's thermal paste

Pros: It works. There really isn't much that you can say about thermal paste, except for either 1) it works or 2) it didn't work, and destroyed your CPU.

No overheating, nice temps.

It has been keeping my 8 core CPU at nice temps for the past three years.

Cons: Since I need to put something in the cons.
It wasn't free? - duh

I wish it was made of gold dust or that I could eat it.

Other Thoughts: Next time make it out of moon dust.
