Thermal compound is necessary to create a reliable transfer of heat from your computer's processor to its heatsink to keep your CPU from overheating. Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound does this with three unique shapes and sizes of pure silver particles to maximize particle-to-particle contact area and thermal transfer. It's optimized for use between modern high-power CPUs and high-performance heatsinks or water-cooling solutions. This 3.5-gram tube contains enough compound to cover at least 15 to 25 small CPU cores, or 6 to 10 large CPU cores, or 2 to 5 heat plates.

Note: This is an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) version, which includes the product, but nothing else. They are packaged generically and are best suited for system builders who don't require documentation or bundled accessories.

  • newegg 99.9% Pure Silver The Arctic Silver 5 uses three unique shapes and sizes of pure silver particles to maximize particle-to-particle contact area and thermal transfer.
  • newegg High Density The Arctic Silver 5 contains over 88% thermally conductive filler by weight. The thermally-enhanced ceramic particles including micronized silver, sub-micron zinc oxide, aluminum oxide and boron nitride particles improve the compound's performance and long-term stability.

5 out of 5 eggsLove this stuff

Pros: This is the only thermal paste I use. I started using it a few years back when I started building computers. When I first replaced the stock cooler on my P4 with HT I used this and I've been using it ever since. This paste gives excellent cooling performance when applied correctly. I like the grain of rice/ pea method depending on the size of the chip. Much better thermal conductivity than the stuff they put on heatsinks for you from the factory.

Cons: Small tube for the price. I can easily get 10-15 applications out of one tube, but for $12 it just doesn't look like a lot.

Other Thoughts: AMD Phenom II x6 1055t with an Antec Kuhler 620 OC to 3.75Ghz and I idle around 30C and max at 50C in Prime 95

5 out of 5 eggsThe cheapest and most significant upgrade I've ever made on any computer

Pros: I own an Alienware m14x R1 and I was a little disappointed at its performance. It can play most games but it's extremely irritating when the games start to stutter every 2 minutes.

I needed to overclock the GPU from 500Mhz to 700Mhz. That made the games somewhat playable until the GPU temperature hit 75C, then it would stutter. On idle it would stabilize at around 65C

Ever since I started building computers, I never cared much for the quality of the thermal paste. However, after reading multiple posts on forums talking about 30% performance increase and 10C cooler temperatures, I decided to give it a go.

I was skeptic, as skeptic as I am towards male enhancement pills: "Something so simple can make a huge difference? Lies!"

But I tried it. $7.00 (sale price) plus some other tools like paste remover and pressurized air. $20 total.

I played for 5 hours straight, and the temperature didn't go above 72C, and that's at its peak. While playing games it averaged around 65C: exactly 10C less than what I was experiencing.

I noticed my laptop didn't get as hot to the touch either. that's how much of a difference 10C makes. Currently, idling at 53C.

In my experience, it's more than a 30% performance boost. It's a completely different ball game. I'm still skeptic of those blue pills however.

Thank you Arctic Silver. I'll pay more attention to thermal paste from now on.

Cons: None. None at all.

5 out of 5 eggsEasy Peasy!

Pros: Easy to use, no fussing with extra steps

Cons: Nothing yet, but it is VERY small!

Other Thoughts: Like other users, I was concerned my package was lost when I couldn't locate it. Luckily Newegg wrapped it in plastic with my RAM shipment. Once I found it I was shocked, so tiny! But it worked like a charm, and I think I might have enough for 2 more setups. So far my system hasn't run over 37C, and I think most of it is due to this thermal paste. Highly recommended!

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great!

Pros: It seems to be working great! There is enough paste for at least three or four applications in the tube. My CPU is running cool with a stock heat sink and fan.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: The tube is a lot smaller than it looks in the picture, but there's plenty of paste for multiple applications.

5 out of 5 eggsArctic Silve all the way

Pros: Bought this for my first CPU build, because of the the positive comments and other great facts I heard about this thermal paste.

This thermal past works amazing, I would definitely suggest this to anyone planning to build a PC. You wont be disappointed.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: First time build use this when applying thermal paste to a CPU.

A dot is alot

You dont need much of this and you'll probably get about 15-20 CPU out of this.
