Thermal compound is necessary to create a reliable transfer of heat from your computer's processor to its heatsink to keep your CPU from overheating. Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound does this with three unique shapes and sizes of pure silver particles to maximize particle-to-particle contact area and thermal transfer. It's optimized for use between modern high-power CPUs and high-performance heatsinks or water-cooling solutions. This 3.5-gram tube contains enough compound to cover at least 15 to 25 small CPU cores, or 6 to 10 large CPU cores, or 2 to 5 heat plates.

Note: This is an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) version, which includes the product, but nothing else. They are packaged generically and are best suited for system builders who don't require documentation or bundled accessories.

Best Thermal Compound

Pros: AC5 is by far and above the best thermal compound I've ever used. Much better heat transferrence than anything Thermaltake, Zalman, or anyone else puts in with their sinks.

Cons: Mildly conductive, so be careful of those traces. Arctic Ceramique might be safer for applications that are close to circuits, since it's completely non-conductive. Also tastes NASTY.

Other Thoughts: If you are holding the tube between your teeth while working, after you apply the AC5, put the cap back on BEFORE you put it back in your mouth.

Lowered My Body Temperature

Pros: Premium Formula. Highest Thermal Conductivity around. Better than OEM paste (as it actually contains silver).

Cons: Doesnt work well with my air conditioner, nor as a salad dressing.

Other Thoughts: Got some on my finger, now my body temperature is 10-15 degrees lower.
How do I explain that to my doctor?

LESS IS MORE!! USE ONLY TWO RICE SIZED GRAINS (UNCOOKED) WORTH OF ARCTIC SILVER ON THE CENTER OF CPU. SPIN AROUND A FEW TIMES UNILL YOU HAVE A QUARTER SIZED CIRCLE IN THE MIDDLE. DONE AND DONE.

A Little Dab Will Do Ya

Pros: Worked perfectly. I was skeptical that one rice size dab in the center of the CPU would do it but it did! CPU runs nice and cool and I'm very happy with this product

Cons: Haven't experienced any at all.

Other Thoughts: Don't spread this with your finger inside a plastic like many would recommend (on the internet). This will more or less guarantee air bubbles. Read the manufacture instructions and it will work as advertised.

Pros: If you are reading this you are looking into it to much. Just click Add to cart

Cons: Shipping is not free, but still worth the price.

Other Thoughts: I built a new computer (all parts from New Egg). All of the big heavy things had free shipping. Since they can just throw it in the box, shipping should have been free.
