OverviewCustomer ReviewSpecificationsProduct Tour
Thermal compound is necessary to create a reliable transfer of heat from your computer's processor to its heatsink to keep your CPU from overheating. Arctic Silver Ceramique Thermal Compound uses a high-density layered composite of five unique shapes of thermally conductive aluminum oxide, boron nitride and zinc oxide sub-micron particles to maximize particle-to-particle contact area and thermal transfer. Arctic Silver claims that this unique blend provides heat-transfer performance exceeding most metal-based compounds. This 2.5-gram tube will cover approximately 20 square inches, at a layer of 0.003-inches thick.

Note: This is an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) version, which includes the product, but nothing else. They are packaged generically and are best suited for system builders who don't require documentation or bundled accessories.

Proper Application

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Provides excellent heat transfer.
Cons: Correct application can be confusing.
Other Thoughts: I have applied this twice to the same cpu/fan combo. The first time I spread it out all over my cpu, and as a result had major problems with contact and drying which ultimately lead to undesired heating problems.

About a year later I went back and looked up the best way to apply thermal grease and it turns out that I had been doing it all wrong.

You only need a dab of this stuff, about the size of a grain of rice. Then just pop your cooler on top and tighten it down.

With this new application I cut about 20-30 degrees C off both my idle and full load temperatures.

I am buying this again to use with my Q6600 and zalman 9700 even though I probably have enough left from my old tube.

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: I build many computers for clients, and this thermal paste is among some of the BEST for the money.
Cons: Be nice to have a LITTLE bit bigger syringe with a little more in it, can do between 7-10 cpu's with it.
Other Thoughts: If you need thermal paste, this is the stuff to get.

It's Thermal Compound

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: It's thermal compound. Cheap, does it's job. My dual core 3GHz processor hasn't burned out yet... It runs a little hot, but I believe that's due to my heatsink.
Cons: It could be free...
