When it absolutely needs to stay on forever, Arctic Silver's Arctic Alumina premium ceramic alumina adhesive is the way to go. This high temp adhesive will ensure that the heatsink will stick to whatever you attach it to.

The ceramic composition means that there is no danger of a short circuit, unlike the silver based compounds. Arctic Alumina conducts heat away from sensitive components and improves the efficiency of your cooling system. Keep things cool and functioning under the hottest action!

  • newegg Micronized Aluminum Oxide and Boron Nitride The Arctic Silver AATA-5G uses a layered composite of three unique shapes and sizes of ceramic particles to maximize particle-to-particle contact area and thermal transfer, delivering higher performance than most metal based compounds.
  • newegg Ease of Use The Arctic Silver AATA-5G is packaged in a syringe for easy control of the amount applied and a spreader is included for convenient daubing of the paste.

5 out of 5 eggsArctic Silver Adhesive works GREAT!

Pros: I have used Arctic Silver Alumina many times in the past. It is a very strong thermal glue. I have pushed the limits of this stuff just to see where it fails. You can literally pull a chip from a device before this adhesive lets go.

Cons: Not really a con but rather a warning: Use only in instances where you do not plan to change out water blocks or what ever else you may be using this adhesive for. I have used it to cool chips on Sound and Raid cards....why? Just because I wanted and overkill system.

Other Thoughts: If you need to adhere one thing to another and still be able to transfer heat away, this is the way to go.

1 out of 5 eggsShould Mention in Titles its permanent

Pros: Im sure its amazing, if I wanted my heatsink to be dedicated to this one CPU forever..

Cons: Should mention its permanent in title, I ended up not using it

Other Thoughts: I noticed 38% of people purchased this product after shopping for a new CPU and Watercooler, and I'm willing to bet most others had no idea this was a permanent compound until after they received it, and I'm also willing to bet some people applied this before realizing and messed their build up pretty bad playing around with a watercooler/heatsink for the first time.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Stuff!

Pros: Does a great job, noticed a 3-4 temp drop. Can't beat Arctic Silver.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Be sure just to place a pea sized drop. Too much and it will kill the heat transfer.

5 out of 5 eggsArctic Alumina Thermal Adhesive

Pros: 100% - Pure electrical
insulator, neither electrically conductive nor capacitive.
Strong bond

Cons: Bad smell.
Long cure time

Other Thoughts: The chemical reaction produces heat and requires heat to cure. The temperature can be hard to maintain when bonding a large heat sink.
Arctic Alumina Thermal Adhesive is none electrically conductive, its the Arctic Silver Thermal Adhesive that is electrically conductive.

4 out of 5 eggsSticky stuff

Pros: Seems to function as stated. EXCELLENT instructions.

Cons: INSTRUCTIONS ... read them BEFORE you buy!!!!! Per the instructions the adhesive is conductive and measures must be made to protect the leads. The instructions do not come with the product.. you have to DL them from the site!

Other Thoughts: The instructions point out that IF there are exposed leads, these should be covered in "non- corrosive" silicone, which is not supplied.

5 out of 5 eggsGood stuff, does as advertised

Pros: Easy to use even if you dont have long to do so, working well and sticking better than any thermal tape I've had. Non conductive is a huge bonus as I dont use any conductive pastes, etc. in my system.

Cons: the smell? :P

Other Thoughts: Work in small batches, you dont need alot to stick things on. I used this for ram sinks on my GPUs and you only need a little at a time. after mixing a 1:1 ratio and sticking the sinks on, wait an hour before use and be sure not to stress it too hard for the next 24hrs while it sets more.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Affordable and it works.

Cons: Wish they sold bigger tubes.

Other Thoughts: Stuff works great as over the last 10 yrs its touch and go with tiny heatsinks on north and southbridge chips so I will remove those and add my own setups that greatly reduce reboots and extend life of some older gaming boards and this stuff makes it easy for me. Probably the 4th time now ive used this stuff and does the trick.

5 out of 5 eggsOops...

Pros: sticks really well, no shorts, Etc.

Cons: I almost applied it to my heatsync as thermal paste.

Other Thoughts: It's great though, don't apply to CPU.
