ASUS Silent Square Pro 90mm Sleeve CPU Cooler

  • 2500 RPM
  • 49.4 CFM
  • Cu. Base + Dual-Side Al. Fins + 5 Heat Pipes
ICON Loading...

Asus has designed their top of the line "square" series to maximize performance, ease-of-installation, quietness, reliability and even the aesthetics while reducing the level of heat of your CPU. The Silent Square Pro supports Intel's Core 2 Extreme/Duo along with other LGA775 processors and Socket 478 CPUs. AMD's socket 754, 939, 940 and AM2 CPU's are supported as well.

The bright orange cladding directs the airflow off the twin columns of dual-sided aluminum fins. The fins themselves are given a wave-shaped profile that does more than add style – it increases the surface area to maximize cooling. Five copper heat pipes draw heat from the CPU and the Sunon 90mm 2500 RPM fan is nestled at the core of the cooler to both cool the CPU more efficiently, as well as to muffle the sound of the fan.

Installation is a snap using the included brackets and backplates designed to match your specific motherboard. A drivebay monitor and fan controller is included to let you optimize your fan speed for maximum balance between sound and performance.

  • newegg Superior Heat Dissipation and Cooling Performance The ASUS Silent Square Pro features a wave-shaped double side fin design on both sides, coupled with a copper base and 5 copper heatpipes, for excellent heat dissipation. Plus a 90mm, 2500RPM cooling fan maximizes airflow for superior cooling performance. .
  • newegg 3.5" Fan Control Bracket The included 3.5-inch fan control bracket features a clear LCD display and a fan-speed control dial for easy monitoring and control of fan speeds.
  • newegg Universal Socket Compatibility The ASUS Silent Square Pro features broad compatibility with AMD socket 754, 939, 940, and AM2 platforms, as well as Intel socket 478 and LGA 775 platforms.

5 out of 5 eggsDOES WORK WITH M3N-HT Deluxe

Pros: Easy to install on the board. This is our 10th build. For this system it dropped the temperature from 55c to 51c at peak usage during 48 person matches on COD4 and Crysis (Ran for two hours straight in both games to get temp readings). We re-built this system and Upgraded from the Thermaltake V1 to this cooler (And several other items). Loved the V1, but this cooler is half the noise level and moves more air creating a cooler operational temperature under all levels of use. This system was built for gaming… We did not want to her the computer, and the CPU cooler had been the noisiest fan in the case. We have 5 120m fans, on Antec spot fan (for the inlets on the back of the GTX280) and one 80m, VERY quiet case now… all run on low… Great airflow..

Cons: NONE! If you have not seen one of these in person, it is far bigger than guessed. Fits great in my full size case.

Other Thoughts: We flipped the MOBO. BTX Style if you will. (We slid out the MOBO tray from the rear left side of the case flipped it 180deg and slid it into the rear right side) This dropped the CPU temp 5C in normal use. For those who have the ability to flip the MOBO tray and do not want to try water and want to stay with air. I HIGHLY recommend this. I then removed the fans and re-installed them so the air moved in the opposite direction they did from the factory. Now the rear fan rams air straight onto the CPU cooling fins, then strait to the RAM and finally right into the front fan and out of the case. The warm air does not have the ability to hang around and get hotter this way. None of the cables that block the airflow are in the way, and now the heat rises away from the CPU and the RAM instead of towards them. This also solved cable length issues and ugly wires everywhere. Computer building is not Lego’s! It takes time and patience. Not brawn and force. Good luck and enjoy your systems! We p

5 out of 5 eggsWorking Better

Pros: Before I had a Logisys 650 watt PSU that didn't have enough power to power up the fan as well and only when to 2160RPM 34C or 36C but now I have a IGMATEK 650 Watt PSU and it has power it up too 2400 RPM and it cooling great, But the best part about is that it keeps the cpu at 30C or 28C

Cons: heavy on the mobo and cpu,

Other Thoughts: I will recommend this product to a friend

4 out of 5 eggsGood

Pros: The CPU cooler does exactly as it says it does. I overclocked my quad 2.4 to 3.0 and it is running at 50 degrees celcius at max.

Cons: It was a difficult task putting it in with my DFI lan party x48 with the chipset cooler around it. I got it in but had to force it a little.

Other Thoughts: I would have gotten a different motherboard or CPU cooler if I would have known it was going to be such a pain to put in.

5 out of 5 eggsIt fit!

Pros: Great looking, moves an adequate amount of air. As big as it is, it was very well engineered. It is sitting on an EVGA 780i mobo with room to spare!

Cons: The instructions are great but its a heatsink, not the space shuttle. I would highly recommend ordering some arctic silver and throw away the compound that comes with it. Maybe mine was old.

Other Thoughts: For the size, it is remarkably light. Reading some reviews after the fact, it may not be the solution if you are thinking on doing any serious overclocking. I am going to squeeze some performance beyond the stock settings but wont be going after an extra Ghz.

4 out of 5 eggsGood But not up to 2500 RPM

Pros: This is a great CPU cooler but as said 2500RPM it doesn't do so. But it only works up to 2220RPM. Fits great for a 875P intel Motherboard 478 chipset. Installment is very easy in 1,2, 3. Also the control display panel is great. I will want to buy it again for a advance gaming system.

Cons: Not up to 2500RPM like it said but works great.

Other Thoughts: excellent fit

5 out of 5 eggsCan we say Huge

Pros: Works great, keeps my cpu cool, excellent fit, easy installation would recommend. it is huge so just make sure you have room for it.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: AMD phenom 9850 am2 +, Asus M3A32-MVP deluxe Mobo. 4 gigs OCZ reaper series 1000 watt ultra x3, 150 gig WD rapter, 2 x Asus top hd 3870 512 gpu. Antec 900 case. Arctic Silver CMQ-22G thermal past

4 out of 5 eggsDoes size really matter?

Pros: It works and is doing its job. My Q6600 is hovering around 35C. Very nice looking and goes well with my orange theme. The fan control for the front is working well too.

Cons: THIS IS HUGE! Make sure you have a huge case and plenty of room around it. The instructions are almost useless.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic

Pros: Eye-catching, does what it's supposed to.

Cons: Gigantic; makes working in the case hard.

Other Thoughts: Just a tip: I would install the backplate and holder thingy and then put the motherboard in the case and hook up everything else before actually applying the thermal compound and placing the heatsink. It is very difficult to work in a case when this heatsink is in place.

3 out of 5 eggsNeeds Mods to Work Right

Pros: Light. Very quiet. Looks cool.

Cons: My universal mounting bracket needed modifying. Four protrusions on the corners of the bracket were hitting the heat pipes in the corners, keeping the unit from making proper contact with the CPU. After trimming the corners with a nibbler, the base of the heatsink made positive contact with the CPU.

Other Thoughts: Bought this fan/heatsink (my first non-OEM) based on other reviews. Probably should have bought one of the more popular Zalman models. The little external RPM controller, although it looks cool, appears to be basically useless. Connecting the fan via the controller or the MB yielded the same core temps, although the indicator on the controller read only 1800 RPM.
